Gu Xin Ye froze at the spot. She stared at the man and wondered if he had been listening to her conversation. If he had, then how much did he hear? As Gu Xin Ye thought about this matter, she began to panic and wonder if she had spoken of anything that Qin Zhan was not supposed to know.
Qin Zhan shifted the weight between his feet. "Ah… Sorry. I was not listening to your phone call. It's just that, you haven't paid for that bowl of noodles yet. I was afraid that you were going to run."
So, he was keeping his eyes on her?
Hearing his words, Gu Xin Ye the tension around her gradually disappeared. "I wasn't going to run."
"Well, yes, you don't know how much people tried to eat and run," Qin Zhan said. "I'm only running a small noodle stand and we're not making a lot of profit."
Not a lot of profit?
At this time, Gu Xin Ye really wanted to ask him why did he choose to quit his job at The Orchid when he knew that he did not make a lot of profit in this small town. She could guess how much Qin Zhan was paid to work in The Orchid. It was high enough that he had bought a luxury apartment in the city.
However, she could only ask such a question in her head. After her conversation with Wang Zhi Wei earlier, she had to be resolute with her initial idea to recruit Qin Zhan to the company.
The members of the director were loving the idea of having Qin Zhan with the company. Therefore she has to be quick and make a decision. She could not afford to wait for too long to get the members of the director's approval. If she was too late, who knows what that Wang Zhi Wei would do to the company. It was her father's blood and sweat. She was not going to let that man ruin it.
Gu Xin Ye walked towards the noodle stand and went back to her seat to finish her noodles. Meanwhile, she had to think properly on her next move.
How should she make Qin Zhan talk without arousing his suspicion? And what should she do to convince him?
"Miss, would you like to have another bowl of noodle?"
When Gu Xin Ye looked up, she found that the teenage girl was standing next to her. She looked at the bowl and found that she had finished everything.
Her face turned slightly red in embarrassment. Was she that hungry? Not even the broth was left!
Gu Xin Ye looked at the girl again and shook her head. "No. Thank you. I'll pay. How much?"
Luo Qi peeked into the bowl and momentarily forgot what the customer has ordered. With a smile on her face, she asked. "Miss, sorry. But what did you order just now?" She turned to stand where the lists of noodles they sell were written down.
Gu Xin Ye followed the teenage girl's eyes and looked at the list. Her gaze paused when she looked at the A4 paper taped just next to the list of noodles.
"Right. Beef noodles with egg, right?" Luo Qi said.
Gu Xin Ye nodded. She saw the price and took out a bill to pay. "You were looking for a part-timer?"
"Uh-huh," Luo Qi took the money and paused. She looked at the advertisement and then, back at Gu Xin Ye. "Miss, you are interested in this part-time job?"
"I was only asking," Gu Xin Ye spoke softly and tilted her head down.
Luo Qi studied the person in front of her from head to toe. Then, as if her head was hit by some kind of a revelation, her eyes sparkled. "I have heard that there is a trend where a tourist would find a job while they are traveling around so that they can support their accommodation and food. But this is the first time I've met one."
"Huh?" When she looked up, Gu Xin Ye saw the excited look on the teenage girl's face and immediately knew that she was misunderstood. "What? N-no. No. I think-"
Of course, before Gu Xin Ye could finish what she was going to say, that teenage girl had turned around to Qin Zhan and disregard the confusion on Gu Xin Ye's face. "Little uncle! Someone is interested in that part-time job!"
Gu Xin Ye sweatdropped. This someone that this teenage girl was talking about cannot be her, right?
This is a misunderstanding!
She was only curious to know why a noodle stand would need a part-timer when there are a total of three people looking after it. She was not interested in that part-time job.
Anyway, it was not as if she had a lot of spare time to take a part-time job. Although she had taken a long leave, it did not mean that she had free time. Gu Xin Ye still had to figure out a plan to entice Qin Zhan, and when she was not thinking of a plan, she will need to review some documents that Lin Qiao had sent to her e-mail.
However, when she saw that Qin Zhan had walked towards her table, Gu Xin Ye was sure that the girl was indeed talking about her. Immediately, Gu Xin Ye could feel a headache coming.
"I told you we don't need a part-timer. Why did you still put on that paper?" Qin Zhan said.
Luo Qi rolled her eyes. "Of course we need a part-timer. Little uncle, have you not realized that Luo Jun and I still need to go to school? If you step away from the noodle stand for a while, then who is going to look after this place? It couldn't be that you're planning to close this place right? Then what will happen to your promise with Grandfather Chen?"
Qin Zhan sighed. He was confident that he could look after the noodle stand by himself, but what Luo Qi said does have some points. There are some days that he will need to head somewhere else. But not too long ago, he had promised Old Chen that he was not going to close the noddle shop, unless if the weather was too bad.
Gu Xin Ye sat up straight when Qin Zhan suddenly sat at the chair across her. Intuitively, she leaned back as if to avoid him. It was the first time that she had come too close to him and Qin Zhan's scrutinizing gaze made her uncomfortable.
"You are interested in this part-time job?"
Gu Xin Ye was about to deny Qin Zhan's question when a sudden thought came into her mind.
Huh... Perhaps, she could use this chance to get close to Qin Zhan and once she had figure out why he decided to quit, then she can make a proper plan and make an offer he could not refuse.
