The seven-year-old boy, usually full of joy, is greeted by the sight of his beloved brother standing amidst the aftermath, his Sharingan blazing crimson. With chilling coldness, Itachi utters to himself:

"Endure it. Endure the ugliness."

The same words, but now they carry entirely different emotions. 

This facade, bearing the weight of all, and unflinchingly making his younger brother despise him, now only serves to evoke boundless sorrow.

At this moment, viewers can barely fathom the depths of pain Itachi must have endured to utter such cruelty.

[The scene doesn't conclude there but rather shifts back to the final showdown between Itachi and Sasuke.]

Uchiha Itachi meets his end beneath the feet of his younger brother.

In his passing, he frees himself from the shackles of destiny, and in doing so, releases the pent-up hatred within his sibling, leaving behind the legacy of the Mangekyō.
