CHAPTER 10

Rachel had visited Emman at his yard late in the cold night. They were outside the yard seating cozily ontop of some stacked hays lost in some friendly discussions. Rachel wrapped her arms round Emman as they discussed. Sometimes I wondered if Emman was closer to her or me but none of that matters to me as long as but were being honest with me as good childhood friends.

"I really miss Julienne so much and I wish she didn't save me that day." Emman cried out Rachel as she glared at him.

"You really did her a favor I must say because she must have gotten close to our boss's son Damien. They might even be in love by now and I wish I was in her shoes." Rachel whispered into his ears as Emman got so annoyed.

"Stop spewing rubbish Rachel, how could you say that Julienne is having fun at the Robinson's mansion? Is that how low you rate her huh?".

Emman questioned her putting on a bull face.

Rachel got terrified by his looks for a moment wondering why he reacted in such manner. She coughed out aloud raising her brows at him. Emman pushed back some strands of his hair that was covering his left eye behind his ear. Rachel was still looking at him and felt a bit suspicious by his act of seriousness over nothing.

"Emman is that a sign of jealousy? Have you started having romantic feelings for our friend now?" Rachel questioned him as he turned away his face.

"Don't go there please, I am just being concerned. This has nothing to do with having any feelings for Julienne." Emman shunned her at once while she felt unconvinced.

Rachel left the hay standing up as she tried rewinding Emman's memory back. She tried reminding him of several situations where she has suspected his act of kindness towards me. Emman felt very uncomfortable by her words and tried running away from those set up questions. He had to push her away from his yard and she refused going home yet atleast not after she haven't teased him enough. Rachel was a character and she always have her way in everything.

★★At the Robinson mansion★★

At a corner of the mansion, Uriel dragged me alongside with her because of the other day. I was already over it but she still had to remind me of it.

"You've been acting fishy these days, what's the secret Julienne?" She questioned me while I shook my head in disagreement.

"If it's about yesterday forget about whatever you saw. I'm fine and please don't worry about me." I pleaded with must she stood at akimbo looking at me.

"I don't know what's been making you happy these days but I just want to remind you that you've five days left to experience this happiness. After you leave the mansion, will this happiness die alongside with you?" She asked me while I looked into her eyeballs lost in thoughts.

I walked away from Uriel while I lazily dragged my foot round the mansion still thinking about the unexpected question she asked me. I don't know if I was really experiencing happiness or she was just wrong. All I knew was that I have been in my best feelings these days especially now my end days of the punishment was drawing nearer. I haven't thought about missing anyone at the mansion but then again I have realized there are some part of the mansions I would greatly miss.

Still walking around the compound lazily, I bumped into Anna. It seemed like she had seen an ugly beast after setting her eyes on me.

"This filthy low class again! Why did you have to appear before me huh?" She questioned me while I looked at her face.

"I'm sorry, let me disappear immediately, since my presence nauseates you so much. After all I am a nobody to stand before the bourgeoisies." I said to her in a low shaking tone.

I tried walking away but she dragged me backwards by the collar of my dress. I staggered backwards almost following to the ground but I held my stance. My pupils widened up while I stared at her confusingly. What did I do again? I kept staring at her face waiting to see what plays out next.

" Did I tell you to leave already? You're really stubborn and I detest you so much. I wish Damian didn't save you on that fateful day." She whispered beneath her breath with so much anger in her words.

"What's my offence again young miss?, You said I irritate you and I tried disappearing but you pulled me back to frustrate me." I replied her with a question already getting angry.

"Wham" a sharp sound landed on my right cheeks. My neck bent on one side as the sound of the slap left some fingerprints on my cheek. I folded my fists breathing hardly. My head was already hot like a bull ready to throw its horns on the offender. Anna posed a dramatic look before me feeling all so cute after laying her hands on me. I couldn't retaliate back atleast because of the favor Damian had done for I and my family.

"Now you can quietly get lost...." Anna said to me while I walked away.

Damian had secretly been watching the whole scene play out and he got very furious because he could remember telling every of his family member not to lay their hands on me. After I had left, Damian came out from his hiding place approaching Anna that was climbing up the stairs to her bedroom.

"You're going upstairs fufilled I guess. Happiness is written allover your face while on the other hand is another wailing at a corner." Damian said to her from behind speaking in parables.

"Uhm Damian! When did you reach here and what are you talking about?" She questioned him turning her head towards his direction.

Damian approached Anna grabbing her hand tightly as it couldn't escape his grip. She cried out in pain attracting Laurel's attention. Laurel left her room running downstairs to help her younger sister that was in trouble. Running down the stairs, she spotted Damian hurting Anna and she had to act fast before their parents find out.

"Damian what the heck do you think you're doing to Anna? Let her go immediately and let's pretend none of this happened here today." Laurel said to him from afar but Damian refused.

"Didn't I warn all of you living under this mansion not to hurt my personal servant? Why did you slap Julienne even when she did nothing to you?" Damian asked Anna as she wondered how he found out about it.

"You are acting immature because of that lower class huh?" Anna responded back at his question with another question.

Laurel approached them, throwing Damian's hand on the air. Anna hurriedly ran upstairs to avoid Damian's pounce because she have not forgotten his bearings when they were younger. Anna wasn't really part of the family but just an adopted daughter of the Robinson. Her late mother was Mrs Emilia's sister and she promised Anna's mother she would take her in as a part of their family. Anna lost her family when she was still a little baby and since then she has been living in the same roof with her cousins though one would hardly know she wasn't really family though extendedly related to the Robinson.

"You're crossing your limit Laurel and I don't habor it at all. You'll keep spoiling Anna and welcoming her nuisance. She's growing into a brat as days go by and it really annoys my soul so much. Just tell her to stop it already." Damian said to Laurel in a loud harsh tone while she looked at his cute face.

"She's our cousin and also an orphan that needs all the love she can get from us as the only family she has now. Please keep tolerating her and rather pour all your anger on me I'll take them." Laurel replied him while Damian shook his head walking away.

Laurel was able to control his anger at the moment but he was only being worried about my recent condition now. I was just at the servants quarters facing the wall of my bed lost in thoughts. It was astonishing at the way I wasn't even bothered about the slap I received from Anna but instead pondering on Uriel's words to me.
