Chapter 6: The Promise

"Wake up, students. You only have 15 minutes to prepare yourselves. Proceed to the ground floor after 15 minutes, breakfast is ready" said by the program manager in the speaker.

Dang it, I only slept for a couple of hours, I'm awake all night, trying to figure out what's going on. The only thing that comes to my mind is that it is either something happened in the future while I was gone or my own existence in this timeline itself is what caused major changes. We will never know.

I grabbed my hygiene kit and goes to the sink.

I saw Glady on the floor who's still asleep, guess she also lives in her own terms. Haha.

As I'm done preparing, I immediately goes to the room where Maia is.

I waited outside her room until she walks out.

"Good morning, how's your sleep?" I asked.

"It's fine, though I'm not used on sleeping early and waking up this early" she said.

"What the hell happened to you? You look like you didn't got any sleep at all" she added.

"Yeah, you're right. I'm still adjusting so I guess I haven't slept at all" I replied.

"Better get a lot of sleep later or else you'll be tired" she said.

"I've been planning on sleeping on the tent that I've bought later, I'll set it up near the river"

"Is that even allowed?" she asked.

"Of course it is, I already asked our teacher, he said that it is alright as long as we are still inside the vicinity of the place"

"I want to go with you, can I?"

"Sure, dear. Let's meet up after the activity I guess? Good luck, I won't be easy on you. Haha" I said sarcasticly.

Honestly I wouldn't even participate in those type of activity, maybe if I'm still a highschooler, but right now I'm a grown up adult who's trapped in a kid's body.

That's literally the worse thing that can happen.

Some may think that it is awesome since you can restart, but no, it is definitely boring.

"Shall we go to the ground floor? I'm a bit hungry" she said.

"Yeah, let's go, I'm also hungry"

As soon as we reached the ground floor, the cafeteria is very flooded. There is waiting line everywhere, the tables are almost occupied by every students.

How bad can it be? If only the project manager used a proper channeling and planning. They can even organize the flow of breakfast, not like this, this is really annoying.

We already grabbed our food and looked for an open space.

As I tried to look for an available spot, I saw a table in which there is only one person.

It is Glady!

Bingo!

I really can't believe that she gives an aura that lets other sutdents avoid her.

In my original timeline she has an affable attitude, though she really can't control her mouth and curse a lot, but she's still nice at the end of the day.

She's the only friend I have after all.

"Can we sit here? As you can see, the whole place is almost occupied, I don't want to blend in with those preposterous people" I said.

"Just sit already, Ringo"

Ringo? What the hell was that?

"Hi, I'm Maia, what's your name? I hope that we can get along" Maia said.

"Oh my non-existing god, did you just talked to me?" Glady replied with a sparkling eyes.

"Yes? Is there a problem?" Maia asked again.

"No, there's no problem. It is just so rare for the other girls to talk to me, they always say that I give a 'fuck off' vibe. I'm glad that you talking to me is very genuine. By the way, I'm Glady! Nice to meet you! Let's be friends" she said.

Wh-what? Is this really Glady? I've never seen her smile like this before. I never knew that she can be this talkative.

After we ate our breakfast, we all gathered with our group.

The team building activites will now commence.

As usual, I'm out of the picture, and so is Glady.

We are not really fond of this things after all.

Watching someone takes the lead and mess up right after is a gem for me, the look of my groupmates after we lost consecutively is very priceless. Haha.

Our group is currently at the bottom of the ranking, having one win and six losses.

"Hey, Ringo? Can I talk to you for a second?" Glady said.

"What is it? Is there something wrong?"

Glady proceeds to hand me something.

"What is this?" I asked.

"It is a pen, a pen in which can be traced through phones, it has an installed gps inside it. Just in case that one of us suddenly disappears and our phones will be confiscated, we can use this." Glady said.

"Woah, where did you even got such valuable item like this? This costs fortune." I asked.

"It was made by my uncle, he gave me three of them" she answered.

"Wait, Professor Reginald made this? Do you know how to access this thing? If Professor Reginald have one of this thing, maybe we can still trace him?"

"How the hell did I missed that? I got an IQ of 178 yet I still tend to forgot something so trivial? What the hell, Glady? Wake up!" she shouted.

"So? Does the professor really have that?" I asked again.

"Yes, he always carry 2 of them. Why the hell did I have forgotten about this? Without you pointing out, we will never get a clue" she said.

"So? How can we access this thing?" I asked.

"We need a computer, but there's no computer here, I can do it after this field trio ends" Glady answered.

"Let's exchange contacts, let's meet up after this tour" I added.

"Yeah, I agree, let's do that" she said.

After that conversation, we already goes to the ground floor to eat our dinner.

After we ate, I goes to Maia's room.

"Are you ready? We can go to the river now" I said.

"Oh so you're dead serious about that? Haha." she said.

As we were walking by, the path is lightened up by the moon.

"The moon is so beautiful right now, isn't it?" she said.

"Yes, yes it is"

When we arrived in the river, we also saw some students who are also going to camp here.

"I guess we're not alone here afterall, that's reassuring" Maia stated.

"How is that reassuring? I want some peace though" I said.

As we finished setting up the tent, we sat near the river.

"Look, Miel. There are a lot of stars tonight" she said.

"It looks beautiful!" she added.

"Do you believe in the parallel universe theory?" she suddenly asked, without context of course.

"Well, it is actually plausible since there are infinite amount of universes, it is really hard to assume that we are the only ones who has an advanced intellect" I said.

"You really changed a lot these past few days, to the point that it is really peculiar" she stated.

"Do you think we're still together in all of those universes?" she asked.

"Without a doubt, I'll always fall for you no matter what the consequences is. I will always do my best just to be with you" I said.

It is indeed true. I will do everything just to be with you, that is because I love you.

"Maia?"

"What is it?"

"Promise me that you'll never leave me, again"

"Again? What do you mean?"

"Just promise me"

"Yeah, I promise"

To every you in every timeline and universe, I promise that I will save you and we'll awalys be together.

But first, I need to save those I treated as a family.
