Chapter 12 (Feel my rage)

"What is it about?"

"I'm not sure, but someone came to your house looking for the three of you; she said that it was an invitation from the king and that I should give this to you three immediately; is there a problem?" Mrs. Ani asked, narrowing her eyes at the girls,

Summer wondered if Mrs. Ani had a life other than not minding her own business, and why the hell was she so excited.

"Okay, thank you, Mrs. Ani," and with that, Mrs. Ani walked away.

"Let's go inside; we don't want anyone eavesdropping on our conversation."

Summer said that while holding both her friends' hands and dragging them toward their room, the girls didn't object to what she said; they just followed her like lost puppies.

Once they were in a room, Summer opened the envelope and started reading the content out loud.

"Dear Miss Summer, Mira, and Phoebe,

We are glad to invite you three to a trip the royal castle has organized; you three are among the privileged few who will participate in this trip.

Your school was privileged to be chosen as one of the schools that would lead the trip this year, and as final-year students, you three would be given a scholarship to one of the best universities in the kingdom.

You'd see some of your classmates who had been given the opportunity to join, as well as some new faces from other schools.

This is the first trip the royal castle has organized, and it is mandatory for all who would participate in it to attend. Failure to attend would be disrespecting the royal crown, which would lead to punishment.

The trip would commence the day after this letter is given to you, and by 9:00 a.m. sharp, your assigned bus would have left to meet with the rest, so you are expected to be at your school thirty minutes earlier.

We hope to see you three there. Have a good life.

from the king,

"To Summer, Mira, and Phoebe."

After reading this, a dip line formed on Summer's forehead, and Mira had a puzzled look on her face while Phoebe was thrilled by the news.

"This is awesome, Summer, why the ugly look on your face, this is all we wanted, a scholarship and a bonus from the king himself, "Phoebe could not stop squealing in delight,

"I don't know; this sounds too good to be true, and the latter, I don't know; it feels... fishy," Mira said, sounding unsure.

"Yeah, why would the king organize a school trip and only invite a few people from the school and also make it mandatory? This sounds untrue; maybe someone is playing a prank on us," Summer added.

"Argh! "Why are the both of you so negative? Can't you see that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we have studied hard, and this is our reward. Can't you see that?" Phoebe went towards Mira, placing her hand on her shoulder,

"Mira "You understand, this has been our dream for years; we can't just throw it all away because of a stupid feeling," Phoebe left Mira when her expression didn't change; she looked agitated at her friends, ruffling her hair, and said,

"Fine, if you can't see the opportunity right in front of you, fine; I'm not the one who would be punished by the kind anyway, and I just don't understand how difficult it is for you guys to just use your head instead of your dumb old heart; you guys are just being unnecessary emotional."

"Hey, stop shouting like a banshee; if you want to go, then go; stop trying to change our minds with your long speech; and for your information, you are the one being an emotional bitch, and by the way, I am using my head, so bitch just scram,"

Summer left both Mira and Phoebe in the room raging. She was tempered, but something felt off about her. Mira looked at Phoebe and saw how stunned she was. Phoebe herself didn't expect that outburst from Summer either; she didn't know if it was something she said or maybe she was just transferring her aggression to her. Phoebe didn't want to admit that she was at fault, and she didn't want to apologize to Summer of all people.

"Phoebe, you know you should apologize to Summer."

"And why should I do that, Mira? Didn't you hear what she said? I spoke about my opinion without calling anyone names, and she called me names, and you didn't say anything to defend me, and now you want me to apologize, never." "Mira, if you want to go after Summer like a lost puppy looking for its mother, then go; don't drag me into this."

"Well, let me tell you that you are already in this problem; everything revolves around you, and if you can't swallow your pride for the people with whom you grew up, I wonder who would ever do so."

"So you want to blow this opportunity because Summer said she's not going?"Mira, you don't have a backbone; you just go around sticking to what anyone says." Phoebe walked up to Mira, pushing her by the chest,

"You are just a weak lean who cannot stand up for herself, and you say it's all my fault; no, Mira, it's all your fault; if you had put your act together and been goddamn brave, all this wouldn't have fucked up; you say I'm prideful; yes, I agree that I am prideful, but who are you? Let me tell you this: you are just the third wheel that we have to always take along because you are a loser,"

Mira Suddenly lost it, she felt something in her awaking and before she knew it she had given Phoebe a tight slap across her face, cutting her short; rage was burning in Mira's eyes, as was Phoebe's.

"Enough, I am sick and tired of listening to your nonsense. I am going to go on that trip, and it's not because of you; no, it's because I want to. Summer was right, you are a bitch."

Mira walked away from Phoebe, heading towards the door, but Phoebe grabbed Mira by the arm, pulling her back to the spot she previously was. Phoebe's eyes had turned red in anger; her red eyes stared into Mira's blue ones. Mira didn't back down; she healed Phoebe's gaze. She didn't want Phoebe to have the idea that she was intimidated by her, because she wasn't.

"You!!,"

Phoebe's hold on Mira tightened; it was sure to leave a mark on Mira's arm.

Mira tried to remove her hand from Phoebe's death grip, but Phoebe was too strong,

"Tsk-tsk, you can't break free, Mira, break free from my grip, Mira, who the hell do you think you are Mira, "Phoebe's voice became louder as she spoke; she looked like a maniac as she said these words.

"You can't right, Mira, where is your courage now, you weak lean, do you think being a hybrid like us makes you powerful, or maybe that's why you think we're on the same level, Mira, we're not?"

"Enough!!!,"

Instantly a strong earthquake struck, shaking the entire orphanage and bringing down half of the orphanage and a nearby building; the wave caused the land to tremble, causing a few trees to fall, destroying many things and injuring many people; Phoebe was thrown across the room, leaving a large dent on the wall.

The whole room was filled with darkness that soon began to spread throughout the building. It was so heavy and full of despair that in a few minutes the whole orphanage turned into a battlefield.

The children in the orphanage began to fight each other, and the staff also began fighting amongst each other; they were vandalizing properties, the strong soon began to feed on the humans that couldn't protect themselves.

Summer, who was taking a stroll outside the orphanage, felt the earthquake. She heard a loud sound, and when she turned to see where the sound came from, she saw nearby houses completely collapse, along with some trees.

Summer suddenly fell to her knees when she felt a wave of darkness scattering through the area, if not the entire kingdom. It was like an external force compelled her body to submit to it forcefully, and despite her not wanting to, she found herself doing it.

Summer was out of breath; she was trying her best to fight the force that held her, but she ended up harming herself.

"Summer felt pain in her chest; her lungs were burning. She managed to stand up on her feet but staggered a few times after a while. She was able to walk, but she still felt the pain in her chest."

She saw a huge tree falling toward her; she wanted to move away but she couldn't, and just when she thought that she would be squashed by the tree, someone pushed her away.

When she opened her eyes, she saw a very handsome man staring at her; he had green eyes, unlike Summer's; his eyes were a little lighter than hers, and he had long blond hair packed in a ponytail that highlighted his well-sculpted jawline and his lips, which were just inches away from hers.

Summer was still under the spell, but she was under a stronger one. His eyes,

" Red," he said as he touched Summer's red hair.

"What?"

Summer asked, raising an eyebrow, he just chuckled and then pulled away from her. Summer's heart skipped a beat upon seeing the sexy smirk on his lips.

"Sorry, I was just amazed seeing such red hair; is this your real hair color or is it...?"

"No!!!,"

Summer yelled, her eyes widening as she realized what she had just done, and she bit her lower lip cursing herself mentally with her face already red in embarrassment.

"I... I mean that... no, my hair is natural," Summer stuttered.

"I have never seen such red hair as yours, and with your face as red as that, you look more like an overripe tomato,"

Summer instantly snapped her head towards him, giving him a death glare upon hearing his words.

"Hahaha, I think your hair has turned redder because you're angry."

Summer just rolled her eyes at him. She managed to stand up, and thankfully she wasn't in much pain.

"Is this what I get after saving your life, red?"

"Thank you," Summer said to him. He just replied with a smile, but his smile fell when he saw Summer's arm which was covered with dark lines. Summer instantly noticed his line of sight and immediately rolled down her sleeves.

His eyes narrowed at Summer, his gaze became intense, and his once cheerful expression had become serious.

"Thanks once again," Summer said before leaving for the orphanage.

Summer was thinking and worrying about who the man from earlier was, but as she entered the orphanage, she realized that everyone and everything had been frozen.

From the flying bench in mid-air to the humans being fed on by vampires to the unsuccessful blow that had yet to be delivered, to the screaming staff attempting to break off the fight,

Summer was also frozen, but hers was with shock; she looked up at the sky and also realized that even the birds up in the sky were also frozen in place.

"What the fuck happened here?" Summer asked herself, but instantly realized whose handwork it was: Phoebe.

Summer rushed into the orphanage entrance, and even the people there were also frozen. Summer looked up at the wall clock and realized that time had stopped for almost seven minutes, which means that that guy was also supposed to be frozen. She also realized that she didn't feel the ground vibrate from the tree that fell.

Summer looked around looking for a familiar face, Rosie. She looked around but found nothing, and just when she had given up, she saw her. Inside one of an opened offices. Summer went in and was surprised to see Rossi under the table crying, her eyes were closed, her hair messy, hands were covering her ears as she kept saying incorrect something words.

"Please don't hurt me," she begged,

"Rosie, what happened?" Summer squatted to her level, bringing her in for a hug, Rosie was

"I don't know, I was playing with my friends when the ground shook and everyone went crazy, and then there was blood and noise, and... I'm scared," Rosie subbed hard in Summer's embrace.

"It will be okay, Rosie, but promise me something—don't leave this room no matter what happened," Summer said, wiping the tears from her eyes, then removing the phone headset that was hanging around her neck.

"Take this listing to some music, and by the time you know it, everything will be back to normal. You can also play any game you want; I have so many of them," Rossi nodded her head, and immediately Summer blocked her ears with the headphones. She stood up and left the room, and when she was out, she locked the door, putting the key inside her pocket.

She continued to walk further. Summer walked into the orphanage, her heart breaking with each step; there were dead bodies of humans and a few vampires and witches; half of the building had collapsed, and another was on fire; Summer could feel the thick darkness that filled the room.

"I just went out for a few minutes, and when I returned, I found this."Summer mumbled under her breath. She doesn't put much focus on them; her main priority is to find and confront her friends.

Summer finally arrived at the room's corridor but what stunned her the most was Mrs. Ani who was at the entrance to her room, with her ear to the door. it was like she was eavesdropping on whatever conversation Mira and Phoebe were having,

Summer just shook her head at

her, she wondered why she was even surprised at Mrs. Ani's behavior, as Summer was about to leave something caught her attention. It was a phone that was in Mrs. Ani's hands.

It was like Mrs. Ani was about to call someone. Summer took the phone out of her frozen hand, and the first thing she saw on her screen was a call that didn't go through, to a person called Evie.

Summer removed another phone from her pocket and copied the number; she wanted to put the phone back into Mrs.Ani's hands but she changed her mind.

Summer left from the side of Mrs. Ani to go to the room, as she opened the door to the room a thick amount of darkness came out of the room; the darkness was so thick that it was enough to kill an average human or a weak witch.

The moment Summer entered the room, Mrs. Ani's phone fell from her hand in shock.

Phoebe, what happened?
