Chapter 13 ( Fighting demons)

Few minutes back

Her head was spinning; she could hear screaming and destruction but could not make out where they were coming from.

Her body was aching all over, and it felt like her skin was burning. She couldn't move her body no matter how much she tried; she was on her knees with her head pressed hard on the ground.

It was very hard to breathe, and in an instant, she was lifted off the ground and slammed hard to the ground once again. She cried in pain as the pain spread through her body.

Her eyes opened, and immediately she looked at the condition of the room. Through the window, she could see the battle that was happening between the staff and the children, and the damage that had been done.

But that wasn't the terrifying part; the terrifying part was the person in front of her, Mira; she didn't look like the Mira she knew; Mira looked like a fallen angel who had come to avenge its fall.

Her eye was completely black; dark veins covered her entire body in a way that Phoebe had never seen; one of her hands had completely turned to bone; there was no flesh on it, and her claws had elongated. In a very frightening manner,

But Mira appeared to be fighting a battle within; her brows were locked together as her eyes flashed from black to blue, and her grip on her hair was so tight that Phoebe thought she'd pull it out.

Phoebe couldn't stop shaking, especially now that she was in a vulnerable situation. Her heart nearly jumped out of her mouth when she saw the winner of the battle between Mira and her demon self,

Mira lifted her bony hand, and shortly the loud cry of Phoebe's agony was heard from miles away.

Phoebe's skin was peeling as if she had been put in a room burning with fire, and the more she struggled, the more the pain intensified. Phoebe could see the mocking smirk on Mira's face, and she didn't know what to feel at that moment: pain, regret, and anger—not at Mira but at herself.

Mira moved closer to Phoebe, pulling her by the hair and forcing her to face her; she couldn't look into Mira's eyes because of the heavy aura that had forced her to submit to her.

Mira held Phoebe's neck; her grip wasn't tight, but the pain that she felt was excruciating.

"Mira "Please....please forgive me."Phoebe cried out,

But Mira didn't give ear to her plea; in fact, the smirk on her face broadened, and Phoebe had never seen such evil in Mira's eyes before. Mira lifted her off the ground and threw her in the opposite direction.

Phoebe landed hard on the hard ground; she moaned in pain as she coughed up a mouthful of blood; she wasn't given a chance to recover when she felt Mira kick her so hard in the stomach; Phoebe groaned in pain as tears began to fall from her eye;

"Mira pleads.."

"Hush now, Phoebe dearest.. why do you weep?" Mira squatted to Phoebe's level, placing her normal finger on Phoebe's lips, and she then wiped off the tears that fell from her eyes.

Phoebe couldn't stop trembling in front of Mira; she had a harmless smile on her lips, but her eyes...her eyes looked like hell itself. Phoebe prayed in her heart for Summer to appear and rescue her from this sticky situation.

"Why are you trembling? I thought I was a weakling and you a mighty rock, so tell me what happened now." Mira held Phoebe by the jaw, impaling her claws deep into her flesh; blood oozed out of the wound as Mira's claws deepened into her flesh.

"How does it feel to be vulnerable? It seems like the grass is greener under me now, Phoebe, hahaha" Mira laugh hysterically at Phoebe.

"Please, Mira "I'm... I'm sorry." Phoebe pleaded with tears in her eyes, and for a moment Mira's eyes softened; she let go of Phoebe, and a battle for control began between Mira and her demons.

Phoebe suddenly felt freed from the force that held her down and the never-ending pain.

Phoebe was relieved that Mira was still in there somewhere and that she was fighting for control. Phoebe instantly stood up, her head spinning with the focus used, but she was still able to stand up on her feet.

She ran toward the secret hiding spot and brightened out the grimoire. She used the opportunity of Mira being distracted to flip through the pages of the book. Her heart was racing widely in her chest, and occasionally she looked towards Mira just to make sure that she was still occupied.

Finally, she found the spell that she was looking for. She began to cast the spell, but then Mira faced her once again. She recited the spell as fast as she could, but Mira was faster. Mira made all the objects float mid-air then sent them all flying. at Phoebe.

But before they could touch her, everything froze in place. Phoebe opened the eyes she had closed earlier; she realized that her spell had worked; she looked at Mira and realized that she, too, was frozen; her legs gave out as tears of relief fell from her eyes.

"Do not glory yet."

Phoebe's eyes widened in horror as the voice registered in her brain; she lifted her head to see Mira just inches away from her,

Phoebe grabbed the grimoire and ran away from Mira, but she didn't go far as she was held by the force from earlier.

"I had fun, Phoebe, but it's time for me to send you back to where you belong, hell," Mira said, taking small steps towards Phoebe.

Phoebe, who couldn't move her body, had her head lowered to the ground, her eyes reading the words of the book and her lips moving to its command.

Mira suddenly stopped on her track, her eyes narrowing at Phoebe. She raised her hand, ready to finish Phoebe, but she couldn't. Mira was constantly trying to put her demons back into their cage, but they were too strong; they kept on overpowering her, but she also kept fighting; she refused to let them use her body, and now was no different.

Phoebe was able to move her body again. She looked up at Mira and saw how she struggled for control. Her eyes were no longer black but red; she was mumbling something under her breath, and darkness began to fill the room once again. Phoebe saw Mira's pendant glow; her eyes widened in confusion and fear.

Honestly, she didn't know what Mira was up to but she knew that it won't be good. Many lives would be lost if she just sat down to anticipate what evil Mira's pendant contains. Phoebe grabbed her book and finally completed her spell.

Suddenly large vines began rising from the ground, covering the whole room and making it look like a jungle. The vines held Mira's hands, legs, and waist, lifting her away from the ground. Phoebe had a smile on her face, but suddenly all the plants began to die.

Mira instantly ran toward Phoebe; she raised her claws, ready to finish her off, but Phoebe quickly removed the dagger that she had hidden away from Mira and stabbed her through her leg.

Mira screamed as the dagger bunted her, anger boiling within her, but her strength quickly faded, and she collapsed to the ground, feeling weakened. It hurts, but at least Mira was able to gain control over her body. She didn't know why she weakened faster this time than the first time, but she couldn't think much as she fell into darkness.

Phoebe reached out to remove the dagger from Mira's leg but changed her mind, she finally breathed a sigh of relief seeing Mira unconscious, she leaned her head on the wall, regaining her strength, she has to unfreeze time before something worse happens, she looked around in realization of the amount of damage and destruction that had occurred, she hoped that she would be able to repair them,

She heard someone's movement behind the door; she picked up the grimoire and began to cast a spell. Immediately the door opened, she blasted the person.

"Phoebe, what the hell happened?" Summer's eyes widened as she saw the man-eating plants approaching her, their mouths wildly open, reviling their large, sharp teeth.

Summer instantly shifted into her Lycan form and dashed towards the plants, showing them who the real beast was. When she was done with the vegetables, she turned towards Phoebe, launching toward her in range. She shifted back into her human self in mid-air, and landed on Phoebe, tackling her on the floor, she extended her claws, bringing them close to Phoebe's wounded neck.

"What have you done?" Summer's eyes were on fire as she said those words through gritted teeth.

"I didn't do anything, you idiot, and take those talons away from my neck," Phoebe spat.

"You better stop acting smart, you little one. Tell me what you did, or else you won't like what I'll do to you." Summer threatened, and they both stared at each other for ten whole seconds before Phoebe backed down.

"I'll tell you, but first get off me; your size is deceiving."

"Okay, but first give me the grimoire, then I'll stand up,"

"Why should I give you my grimoire? What if you plan on killing me?" Phoebe narrowed her eyes,

"After you said I'm the stupid one, you know if I wanted I would have done that a long time ago," Summer rolled her eyes.

Phoebe bit her lower lip in contemplation; she knew it was the truth, but she barely survived an attack from the last person on earth that she thought could never kill a fly. She was a bit shaken, but she agreed,

"Fine, then get off of me," both girls said giving themselves enough space between them.

"Now start talking; I really want to hear the stupid thing you did out of anger." Summer motioned with her fingers, saying, "out of anger,"

"Yes, it's all my fault. I was so angry after our fight, and I took it all out on Mira. I said and did things I shouldn't have done or said, but before I knew it, Mira exploded. She lost her mind entirely, and... I know this sounds untrue, but I need your help, "Summer, we need to fix this before things get out of hand."

"I just left this room for ten minutes and all of this happened; I don't think you realize the extent of what you've done; do you know that you completely stopped time in our entire kingdom? Both you and Mira were talking about being afraid of execution because we killed, but now I'm damned sure that we will get killed for sure this time," Summer was losing her mind just thinking about the gravity of their crime.

"People lost their lives because of me; I've lost my friend because of my foolishness; I'm so stupid, this is all my fault." Phoebe broke down into tears; she sobbed hard in her palm as Summer watched.

"Summer was not in a better condition either. She was pulling her hair and racking her brain for a solution. She was both angry and sorry for her friend.

"Now is not the time to be emotional; this is the time to think. I know that you know that I can't do that on my own, so I need you to get your act together."

"Yes... that's right." so what's the plane?" Phoebe said, wiping away her tears,

"I told you I didn't have one, which is why I'm asking you to stop crying so we can combine our ideas, "Summer gave Phoebe a nonchalant look; upon hearing this, Phoebe's jaw nearly broke in two.

"Can't you unfreeze time?" Summer asked, pulling away from the wall with hope in her eyes.

"Don't you think I have already thought of that? I can, but it won't undo the damage that has already been done."

"Oh, yes, that's right," Summer sighed, leaning back against the wall.

"But I can go back a few minutes in time," Phoebe suggested, seeing the disappointed look on Summer's face.

"Are you mad?" "Haven't you watched movies? Those things never work," Summer refuted.

"Yes, it would," Phoebe urged.

"Wouldn't it be forbidden? Don't you know that there's always a consequence for every forbidden spell cast?"

"I know, but we don't have any other choice, and the only way to know for sure is to see, so please give the grimoire back to me; time is not on our side." Phoebe stretched out her hand for Summer.

"No, I won't."

"Summer, please stop being childish; let's just get this over with, you said it yourself, we don't have time," Phoebe begged.

Summer didn't want to, but seeing the guilt in her eyes, she just couldn't bear it, and Phoebe was also right, so she gave the grimoire back to Phoebe.

"So, what's next?" Summer asked

"We read,"
