Dorothy and Becky are walking down the streets at opposite ends where a cafe is in the middle where they serve both cats and people.
Dorothy enters the cafe. "Such an odd place." Confused.
Dorothy grabs a stray white cat while Serena is walking next to her.
Serena looks around as if she's not impressed with the town. "I can't believe I've been stationed here. Is there anything to do around here? Besides being a hick town?"
Becky is offended by the comment. "Well since we got a Witch problem, we might actually have fun!" Becky is excited.
Serena disapproved. "Let me settle in first. And by the look of this town, I got to get a lot of stuff in order to survive two weeks."
"Aren't you judging my hometown too harshly?"
"Not harsh enough." Serena retorts.
Becky looked frustrated then down to her chest. "And can you explain to me why they updated the cup size from C to B? Because C seemed to be a perfect size for a breast." Becky asked as they entered the cafe, standing behind Dorothy in a line. Serena goes up onto Becky's shoulders.
"Because the latest Magical Girl history reports that all Pink Magical Girls had been recorded to be around B or A cup size. So any previous C+ cup Pink Magical Girls had their rights revolt and been assigned to a different class."
"And how do they decide on that?" Becky asked.
"From their highest marks from the Academia. Simple." Serena answered.
"Oh!" Becky said. "But my goal is to be a Pink Magical Girl. For my brother's sake."
"Well we got one hell of a lot of work to do, in order for that to happen. You're not like..." Serena leaps onto Dorothy who isn't surprised but felt uncomfortable of Serena observing her body. "This girl here. She's perfect for a Pink Magical Girl, but you, I don't think you match the qualifications for such."
"Oh, come on! I have qualifications!" Becky barks at Serena.
"I will admit you have the figure of a Green Magical Girl. You're decent looking to make it into the Yellow Dorm. But I doubt you'll make it higher than that." Serena said to Becky.
"Alright, I wasn't expecting I would be accepted in the Yellow Dorm, but why does everyone think that I could be in a Green Dorm?" Becky asked.
"Because you seem fit, and athletic. Simple." Serena answered.
Dorothy turned as the stray cat seemed to find Serena interesting. "Sorry to intrude, but it seems that the cat here has taken a liking to yours."
Serena looks at the cat, and looks disgusted. "And literally, my first day here is having a complete stray hitting on me."
"He's not hitting, he seems like he likes you." Dorothy smiled while not understanding the modern term.
"Not kind of hitting." Becky smiled.
Both of them quickly notice each other, but to Becky, it's only Almire's niece while Dorothy is scared of seeing Becky up close.
"Hey! Aren't you that girl that Almira brought here?" Becky asked as she smiled.
Dorothy stuttered. "Um, yes. And aren't you that Magical Girl that causes damage to the vehicle?"
"What damage?!" Serena shouted at Becky. "And..." Serena was about to mention some important information, but the stray cat interrupted her.
"He really likes you." Becky grins as Serena is trying to hide on her shoulder. "As for the damage, I'm still paying for it. It's a long term investment."
"I see..." Dorothy slowly nods.
"So is this your cat?" Becky asked.
"Yes!" Dorothy lied. "But I don't have a name for him yet."
Becky leans to the side to see that Dorothy is next. She points.
Dorothy then realises that she is trying to come up with an order. "Do you have any herbal tea?"
"Yes, we do." The counter person nods. "And what kind of milk?"
Dorothy is confused as she looks at the cat. "Um... regular?" Confused.
"Alright madam." Checking up on the cashier's money. "$6.50"
Dorothy reached out to her purse then passed over the money, with change back, but for Dorothy, "Keep the change."
"Oh, thank you." The cashier is happy about Dorothy's generosity. "Now you can place your cat in the playground." She points at the playground for cats.
"Understood." Dorothy walked up to the playground then placed a collar around his neck.
Becky is up to order. "I'll have a nonfat latte with two turkey clubs. And do you have premium milk for Serena here?"
"I prefer warm milk and a private place to enjoy it." Serena ordered.
The cashier is shocked to see Serena.
"What?"
"Sorry, it's that you're either a Familiar or..."
"I'm a member of the MGGA!" Serena paw pressed to reveal her ID card.
"Sorry, Miss Serena. I'll get your order, but I can't promise privacy."
"Then I'll have a table to myself, please." Serena orders.
"That will be $14.30"
"Right away!" Becky looked through her wallet, but she seemed like she didn't have enough. She turned to Serena. "Do you have any money on you?"
"Only for Magical Girl business, otherwise, I'm in your care. Like a pet, but at least you have that talk back." Serena answered.
"Can you label this as an MG business?" Becky asked.
"Just pay the cashier." Serena ordered.
"I..." Becky reveals her wallet to see a couple of dollars. "Don't have enough."
Serena looked down on her. "I'm not paying."
Dorothy overheard them then walked up to them and offered up some money. "Allow me, Miss." Dorothy pays them. "Keep the change."
"Thanks again." The cashier is happy.
Both Becky and Dorothy took a table together while Serena took over a single table.
"So since you're new in town, what do you think of Oztown?" Becky smiled at Dorothy, who's trying to keep a calm composer.
"I'm quite fond of it. Since I originally came from a small countryside." Dorothy answered. "Things have changed since I moved back here. And you?"
"I'm not originally from here. I'm from Alberta, Canada. Both Pete and I used to live in the forest side of Alberta." Becky reveals her home country.
Dorothy seemed to be confused by the idea of someone living from Alberta to Kansas. "How did you travel from a place so far?" Dorothy asked.
Becky seemed to be interested in the backstory.
"Well, being born in a small place, I'm used to small towns like this. But at least the small towns next to my hometown at least have some kind of fun." Becky is grabbing a bite. "As the forest was burned down, Pete and I just ran down south since everyone thought I was a Witch. So we couldn't go back or relocate anywhere in Alberta. The Magical Girl who helped us manage to get our paperwork done, and relocated here to Oztown." Becky looked out. "I actually liked it here, but Pete has done some jobs here and there. We even have to steal for food."
"That could explain your food budget." Dorothy commented.
"Yeah..." Becky ate her turkey club sandwich. "I was hoping to live somewhere in the city, but so many Witch attacks happen there, so the Magical Girl who helped us put our safety first, but putting us in a town with the least amount of Witch attacks or none at all. At least till last night." Becky's eyes are filled with stars due to the action she got involved with.
"Well, I tend to study Witches. I want to understand them." Dorothy said to Becky. "I find them interesting since I wonder what kind of Witches are out there."
"I doubt there's any good Witches out there, since a Witch burned down my forest home. And kill my parents." Becky looked out with disgust.
"Oh!" Dorothy seems ashamed of being a Witch.
"Lucky for me, the Red Magical Girl, Wild Flame was nearby. She's an expert on wildfire rescue. And she killed the Witch that burned down my forest home." Becky crushed her other turkey club out of anger. "But there's no body found. Even if it was burned, there should be a charred corpse. And when I graduate from the Magical Girl Academia, I'll head back home, and prove that everyone is wrong about me being a Witch but also I'll find that corpse if the last thing I do." Becky notices the book about Witches and Magical Girls. She grabbed the latter. "Why are you studying Magical Girls? I can understand Witches since you're studying them as a hobby, but Magical Girls?"
"It seems that Magical Girls is still new to me, since I live a reclusive life." Dorothy awkwardly looks away as she sees cats are playing around, including the stray she picked up. "So I want to separate the two."
"Eh?" Becky tilted her head. "You think Witches and Magical Girls are the same?" She slightly giggled. "I think you seem to confuse them due to the magic. Magical Girls have master Magic while Witches seem to abuse it."
"Abuse it?" Dorothy tilted her head. "I think Witches used more Magic of nature itself. Rather than, artificial magic that Magical Girls seem to use." Dorothy compared them. "Since it seems that they use nature around them, while Magical Girls seem to rely on their uniforms."
"That's what I mean about abusing Magic. The uniforms contain our abilities, and we get a power boost. It's like science and that confusing stuff. Having a small orb that can become more powerful. That's how I feel whenever I wear my uniform." Becky flexed which impressed Dorothy.
"I've never seen a girl with such toned out muscles before." Dorothy observes then softly smiles.
They drink their drinks.
"How's your drink?" Dorothy asked.
"Pretty good. Keep me focused, plus love the taste." Becky offers. "What a taste?"
"Alright then." Dorothy slowly grabbed the cup then took a sip. Confused, I can't seem to understand the taste. "It's quite unique."
"More than unique." Becky smiled as she drank Dorothy. "Quite plain, but serviceable. Quite boring, like a boring life."
"It's alright to have a boring life, as my father used to say."
They placed the cups down, then drank their own drinks.
Dorothy thinks to herself about this moment with Becky. "Even so, this is quite peaceful. I wish life could be this peaceful since technically, a Magical Girl and a Witch are having a drink together."
Drinking tea, then a thought came up. "Wait a minute!" In her mind, she's taking a spit take. "I'm literally new to town! How come she expects me to be a Witch?! Maybe I should ask?"
Awkwardly speak to Becky. "Becky, right?" Nods to reply. "Since I'm new here, do you expect me to be a Witch?" Awkwardly chuckled.
"Oh no!" Becky cleaned out her ear. The answer shocked Dorothy. "I'm not like those Blue Magical Girl hopefuls that always expect a new girl in class or town, because they're paranoid. They could be new Magical Girls that wanted to go to that school instead of their old one." She chuckled. "So I don't expect you. I expect Witches to be cunning and deceitful."
"Clearly she's not that bright when it comes to putting two to two together. Then again, I shouldn't talk, since maths is not my favourite subject. So I guess common sense?" Dorothy thinks to herself.
"I onced made an ass out of myself, when I first thought the new girl in class was a Witch, when I came down here. But it turns out that she was just moving back in." She laughed it off. "I never felt so embarrassed in my life during that moment. Have you felt embarrassed?"
Dorothy is thinking of any time. "Well..." Coming up with something, but look at the counter and stove from the kitchen. "I honestly couldn't figure it out on the stove. I was having a war in my mind and figuring out what to do with it."
"Ah! I can understand that!" Becky smiled while having a red face out of embarrassment. "I nearly burned down the hotel room when I first came here. Trying to make my brother lunch, but he ended up being late and got fired after my third attempt at lunch making."
"Being fired by being late?" Dorothy chuckled. "Where I'm from, you had to work really hard in order to get fired from work."
"Sadly that was the first job I got him fired from." Becky is embarrassed.
"How many times have you fired him?" Dorothy asked.
Becky raised up four fingers. "At least four jobs."
Dorothy looked around and confused about the amount of jobs he had. "From where I'm from, people tend to have one job and you're set."
"I think labour laws would counteract that. Since anyone can apply for a job, as long they got the right skills to do so." Becky smiled.
"But I believe as long as you're capable and willingly to do so, even through hard times, you can accomplish anything." Dorothy added.
Dorothy looks around and sees Almira, who's sitting at the bench, waving at her. She waves back while both of them acknowledge that this is an awkward moment between the three.
"Anyways, I see my auntie there. I'll be heading home. I got some summer schooling stuff to do." Dorothy stood up and left a tip.
"Alright then. See you around." Becky smiles while waving at her.
"Then shall we meet again." Dorothy bowed while she picked up the stray cat.
Leaving the cafe, Dorothy let the cat go. She walked up to Almira.
Both Almira and Dorothy are walking down the street.
"So what did you two talk about?"
Dorothy looked at her. "About Witches and Magical Girls. And about this one Magical Girl she seems to have mentioned."
Almira noticed. "Ah..." as if she knows who she's talking about. "Wild Flame?"
"That's the one! Do you know her from your travels?"
"Well I did. But she talks about that forest fire?" Almira asked with a stern tone.
"Yes. She lived in Alberta, Canada, before coming here. And a Witch causes a huge wildfire that burns down her home."
Almira looked forward with a cold expression. "The one thing she's right is that newborn Witches can cause wildfires, but there's no Witch located up north."
Dorothy stopped. "Come again?"
"The person she's looking for is already dead. Because my friend Margaret, she made sure she killed Wild Flame for killing her Apprentice." Almira stares back. "I had so many friends who were killed by the pyromaniac. Gave us Witches a proper Witch hunt in her words. Most Red Magical Girls tend to burn us all alive, or even give us a fair judgement." Walking back to her home with Dorothy. "One thing I'm honestly glad about Wolfe, is that she's no Red. Green would be a problem, but that's like fourth in line. But those no good Red assholes. I had killed more Reds than I ever had with the other four."
"You seem to have this bitter hatred for them." Dorothy is concerned.
"Because the Red Magical Girls were the main reason why our Witch Academy was burned down to the ground. I can still hear their screams."
Almira enters her house then Dorothy. Slamming the door then leans back on it.
"Wild Flame was the one who killed her parents. I find it ironic that a Witch saved you and now becomes one. Yet for Wolfe, a Magical Girl killed to make her go down that path. The only thing that Wild Flame was good, is sending her here and actually helping her out with the paperwork. Should have seen Peter when he first came to town."
Almira looked up to see younger Peter with hatred in his eyes.
"He seemed to understand, but couldn't break her little sister's heart. So he too played along with the charade."
Everything turned back to normal.
Dorothy looks out at the globe. "Does everyone know?"
"Some, including Peter and I, tend to believe it was Wild Flame. But due to Witches being evil, they believe it was a Witch. And the only Witch up there seemed to be up there, was the Skinwalker and Mary. Two old friends of mine, but I'm not introducing them to you when we leave here in a couple days."
"Oh? Where are we going?" Dorothy looks up.
Almira smirked, then pointed at the globe, Colorado. "To the Bad Apple. To train you for a bit." Cackled.
She started packing up for a quick trip. "Where are you going?" Dorothy asked.
"Gonna asked for advice. And how to be a teacher." Almira smiled as she grabbed her broom.
