Chapter - 89 [ Chimera! ]

The path was narrow but wide enough for them to walk comfortably. As they walked further away from where the other people were, they could feel that there was an eerie silence in the tomb.

"It's surprisingly quiet, isn't it..?" Aksed Ruby with an uneasy expression. Nodding his head, Adam explained.

"You are right. In fact, I can sense some monsters from our position. But, surprisingly so, they are avoiding us."

"Could the cause be you, Adam..?" Denying her assumption, he said, "I am hiding my strength. In their eyes, I am only at the level of a Advanced Mage."

As they were walking Ruby stopped on her tracks for a bit and expressed her doubt. "Then, perhaps it's as you said, that mysterious being with strength higher than Claxcez. And it's not attacking us, which means, it's very intelligent and controlling other monsters..?"

He nodded to her words. "That's right. That's what I think too. As for why.... We may have to ask it directly...."

On the side, Adriel looked amazed at the duo and exclaimed, "Oh! So you two are the kind who thinks a lot huh... Truth to be told, I've never even thought of such a question!"

Staring at her as if she was troublesome person, Adam said, "That's because you are all muscles not brain." Although it was a little rude to say this to a girl, she deserved it.

Facepalming himself, Adam shook his head with a wry smile and continued to the depths of the tomb.

"You know, I never been to the lower floors of a tomb before. So, I am a little excited!"

Ruby was excited. Although she participated in the academic tour in the tomb, they were not allowed to dwell into the depths of the tomb. Now, that she had freedom and safety, she was excited to learn more new things.

Thanks to Adam, they weren't lost. He was guiding them to the correct paths through which they can get to the destination.

Looking with his eyes of omniscience, he could see the whole tomb from top floor to last floor. Counting them all, he found that, this tomb had fifteen floors. Although the number of floors are small, the size of each floors gets bigger as they move to through each.

With his guidance, they reached the last floor without any hindrance whatsoever with only half a day. In front of them was a huge closed gate made of some kind of crystals. It looked like a mirror. On the door, there was some pictures which was unknown to the duo of girls.

"What is this..? Even though, I can't read it, or understand anything on it, just seeing that's making me feel restless and my whole body tremble!"

"What kind of monstrosity is that..?!"

Although the girls were terrified of it, It was a monster Adam was familiar with. He never seen it before, but his knowledge from the previous world helped him here.

It was a monster with the head and body of a lion, with feathered wings and snake headed tails. It was a chimera.

"It's a Chimera... I've never thought I would see one here..."

Although he could sense that there is an unknown kind of monster inside, for some reason, his eyes weren't able to see through it. This made him more cautious, as it's strength can't be taken fun of.

"You know what it is..? Although my father and the others have seen it, they never told us what is inside. If this is your first time here, how come..."

She didn't had to complete her words as Adam ignored her first and touched the door before responding, "I already told you, I am strong. I can do a lot of different things...."

He pushed the door, which it easily opened up to show a majestically, massive castle. Its entire size was at least larger than royal capital of Grania.

"Wow! Such a place exist..? And we didn't even knew!"

"And what is with this size..? It's.... The castle itself is actually larger than the royal capital..!"

The two girls were shocked by the scene. It was simply majestic. The whole castle was excluding an aura of majesty and power.

From his perspective, what he understood from the castle was that it was a copy of multi headed dragon. When looking closely, he could see three heads. There was also wings as well as something circular behind it. But it's tail was different from other dragons he seen.

They began climbing the steps slowly. As it was large, the steps were numerous as well. After reaching the top, Adam saw another door. But, what surprised the two girls was that there was something guarding the door.

As if sensing their arrival, the monstrosity, an animal with lion+dragon head and body and bat like wings as well snake headed tails opened its eyes.

"T-This is C-Chimera...!"

"What a M-Monster..!"

The two girls were intimidated by sheer size and image of the chimera. It was large as a small mountain. And the aura it was excluding was too terrifying for them to even stand properly.

"This is a Chimera. It's a Monster having a body with different parts of which are from different species."

For another moment, the chimera and Adam was staring at each other. The girls couldn't even gulp. The next moment however, the two's aura's clashed.

BOOM..!!!

"Ugh!!!?? What is this..!??"

"I can't... M-Move..!!!"

Due to the clash of two people who have already surpassed the normal Magic king level strength, the pressure, they were feeling were too much for them to handle, which forced them to kneel and bury their face on the ground.

Sensing their problem, he activated a barrier to protect them and asked in a loud voice, "So, are done testing me..?"

As if surprised by his words, the chimera's eyes widened a little as it removed it's pressure and stared at him in silence.

"Thank you for understanding. Although I am fine, that isn't the case for them."

Answering him by nodding it's head, the chimera opened its mouth and surprised the two girls by saying, "I am very surprised, human. I never thought, someone would actually see through my test so easily. You surpassed my expectations."

""It can talk..?!"" The girls asked in unison.

Ignoring them, Adam asked, "You have tested anyone who have reached this stage, didn't you..?"

Like him, ignoring the two shocked girls, the chimera continued, "You are wrong in that assumption. I have indeed been trying to test those who comes here. But, unfortunately no one have ever met the conditions to participate in that test. They always ran away which was caused by the fact, 'fear'. That is where you are the winner. You weren't scared but curious even though it may be dangerous. You wanted to see through what it was in the end. Not only that, you weren't affected by my strength."

"That is why, you are worthy to continue from this path. But the two females behind you can't be allowed to go in."

Understanding it's demands, he nodded and said, "Alright. But, I will say this only once." Saying, his eyes became cold and an aura that pressed the chimera to the ground was released from his body. "If something were to happen to them, forget about you, not even your master waiting for me inside, won't be able stop me from causing destruction! Do you understand what am I trying to say..?"

The chimera had only one thought. Impossible!

His aura was spread. It understood. This human, he were holding back previously. And, it felt something new. It was the same thing it preached before. Fear!

Not just a fear of death. But, it was as if it's entire thoughts and consciousness came to a halt. As soon as he finished speaking, he removed the pressure from it and waited. Shaking slightly, the chimera responded by saying, "I shall protect them, until your return..."

Nodding with a smile, he walked inside after waving towards the girls.
