Even behind the pain, he felt physical, Lucien's heart fluttered after hearing Blair say that she couldn't leave him. He felt a sudden relief that he couldn't even explain. All of a sudden, he had forgotten the pain when his wound reacted with the wine.
He would rather feel that sting caused by the alcohol on his wound than the burning and pumping pain when he just let his wound lay there. However, that was before Blair arrived. Blair certainly made significant changes to Lucien.
Blair took the book and read that open page. Worry spread over her face. Lucien wanted to say something to Blair to lessen her fears, but he couldn't find the best words for him to say.
"Sorry, I wasn't expecting it to affect you this way. I wasn't expecting it to be that bad." Blair flumped down the floor. Her shoulders looked so heavy as she slumped.
