"How's the situation outside?"

Reynold asked as he stared at the midwife with the child in his hands.

"They've all left, and only a few guards are left along with general Zane"

Reynold looked at her in shock and asked her.. "General Zane is outside?!"

"Yes sir"

Reynold let out a shaky breath as he didn't know what to do, he can't let anyone see the child not even general Zane. he might be the king's trustful man but, no one can be trusted in these walls.

he sigh as he didn't know what to do, seeing him looking so defeated. the Midwife suggested

"May.. I help sir?!"

Reynold looked at her as he quite didn't understand what she meant... as she wore a wry smile on her face.

he sigh and listened to her

after a few moments, the midwife came out. General Zane was still there as well as the other guards. general Zane observed her when she came out.

she was having a basin in her hands filled with white clothes stained in blood.

she walked away from the door when General Zane stopped her.. "Wait"

the midwife stopped and turned to him.

"What are you holding?"

he asked as he stared down at the basin, the midwife smiled and told him.

"Am holding a basin my lord, it contains the royal blood of the queen, and thus must be burnt and not washed"

" Where are you going to burn it?"

" Outside the castle my lord"

general Zane sigh and looked at her as he stepped closer to her..." Then I'll escort you"

the midwife looked at him in shock, but before he could notice it, she quickly looked back to normal and smiled at him

"But why my lord?"

"The queen's stained sheets must be burned so as no black magic can be done to it, and you're going outside with it, what if you yourself are the one going to commit it?"

"That can't be done general Zane" Reynold came from the inside and went to them. he looked at the midwife and back to general Zane. " Because I'll be with her til she burn it all..so there's nothing for you to worry about"

General Zane looked at Reynold and back to the midwife. he sigh as Reynold was quite convincing to him and finally nodded at them. allowing them to leave.

both of them sigh in relief quietly before they bowed to the general and left with the basin filled with blood stained sheets in them... when suddenly, a baby's gurgle was heard.... but only for a short notice, if one wasn't concentrating enough, they would barely heard it... but Reynold and the midwife heard it loud and clear, but they didn't stop in their movements, hoping that non of the other guards heard what they did, but unfortunately..

"Stop!!"

general Zane said to them.

Reynold shut his eyes tight fearing they've already been caught.

the midwife turned before Reynold could and smiled at general Zane.

"Yes my lord"

general Zane looked at them suspiciously and went towards them.

"What are you holding in there?"

Reynold turned and told him.. "We've already answered you general Zane"

General Zane sigh and called some of the guards.

the guards hurriedly matched to them and bow their heads to the general

" Search them" he commanded.

Reynold's eyes went wide as he stared at the general, while the midwife, her heart was pounding hard, she looked at the stained sheets and back at Reynold. if they get caught now, all will be over.

The guards looked at Reynold, he too was in higher ranks as the general. when they moved to search the basin. Reynold yelled

"What do you think you're doing?!"

the guards halted and looked at Reynold

"This is the royal blood!! of the queen for that matter .. how dare you considered to touch it?! do you want your hands to be chopped off?! "

they all back away as the general looked at Reynold with suspicious eyes.

" General Zane what do you think you're doing?! "

another voice called out.They all turned towards the area where the voice was coming from, and to their quick responses, they all fell on their knees and bow to him, including general Zane.

Reynold looked at the king and bow slightly at him, the king stared back at him and then, at the basin.

he looked at the general and asked him once more.

"General Zane"

"Yes my king"

"What do you think you're doing? how dare you allow them. to touch the blood of my queen?"

general Zane bowed even lower before he said .. "I beg for your forgiveness my king but..." he turned and looked at the midwife.. "I thought I heard a voice of a baby's cry coming from the basin, that's why.."

"And why would their be a baby there? my prince is with his mother inside, what other baby could be heard in that basin?"

"please forgive us my king"

" Don't make me think low of you my good man."

he then looked at Reynold and told them.." You may leave"

Reynold bow to him as well as the midwife and they turned and left.

the king sigh and watched the two of them as they left with his child.

he ached to approach them and stop them, but he knew better than anyone that that would be the worst move to be committed at times like this. he sigh and looked at the general before he left and entered inside.

The general looked at the door where the king got into and sigh, he raised as he turned as well to look at the two people who disappeared in the dark with the basin filled sheets of bloodstains.

The two of them. waled and quicken their pace as they pace the residences of the other wives of the queen, they both knew well and better that they are far more scary that the dukes if they happen to hear of the child.

they walked through the residences and paths in shadows fearing to be seen and when they saw the massive gates leading outside of the Castle, they both sigh in relief and headed there.

"Halt!"

one of the guards said to them, he went to them, when he saw it was Reynold, his eyes went wide and bow his head to him

"My lord"

"What do you think you're doing stopping me?"

"Please forgive me my lord.."

Reynold sigh and left the castle through the gates with the midwife, Carrying the basin.
