Cough, cough… "Well, well… Very good. Grayson, you ungrateful traitor! Fine, let me teach you a lesson."
Before Wei Da Qiang's words even settled, an elderly voice cut through the air. "Hmph… Such arrogance. With me here, Wei Da Qiang, do you think your injured body can even manage a few moves against me?"
Grayson's brow furrowed. If he didn't show himself now, the girl and his future father-in-law were going to be in serious trouble.
With that thought, he burst through the window, with Wolf Treasure leaping off his shoulder and charging ahead.
"Who's there?!" Both Wei's family and Grayson's opponents turned toward him in shock.
Wei Fengxia stared at the newcomer, her face full of confusion. His gaze and demeanor looked just like her man, Grayson, but his frame was notably larger. It was a strange feeling.
Grayson stood coldly, glaring at Chen Dong's group. His blood surged, his sleeves flapping as though caught in a strong wind despite the still air.
On his shoulder, Wolf Treasure crouched, its eyes gleaming with a chilling light, letting out a long, menacing howl.
"Awoooo…"
Under Grayson's intense gaze, names glowing red appeared one by one. Aside from Chen Dong and a few East Gang officers, none of them were even a match for Wolf Treasure1.
To be fair, while Wolfy was technically a Level 0 wolf pup, its attributes surpassed Grayson's, a martial artist in the Bone Refining stage.
That didn't mean Wolfy could singlehandedly take on a martial artist, though. Grayson had tested this before—when he unleashed his full blood energy, his stats spiked dramatically. Simply put, visible data didn't always reflect true combat strength and served as more of a reference.
"Wolfy, stall those guys for me. If anyone dares to make a move, kill them outright. As for that old man, leave him to me." Grayson's face lit up with excitement. Since entering the Bone Refining stage, he'd never had the chance to fight someone of the same level. This was a rare opportunity.
For a martial artist, continuous training wasn't always the best way to grow stronger. It was through life-and-death combat that true progress was made.
The elder had been wary the moment Grayson appeared. Hearing his words, he raised his energy to its peak. "Young man, this is our gang's business. Are you sure you want to interfere?"
"Interfere? With you? Get real." Grayson's fiery temper flared without restraint. He was already irritated by his woman keeping secrets from him and her lack of trust. The old man before him became the perfect outlet since he couldn't take it out on Wei Fengxia.
Without further words, Grayson lunged forward like an arrow from a bow, his fist crashing down like a mountain.
The Breaking Army Fist, a force as heavy as a thousand pounds, capable of moving mountains and splitting armies.
Thankfully, the old man had been prepared. Seeing the attack, he leaned slightly forward and reached out to grab Grayson.
"Judo? A martial art from the East?" Grayson immediately recognized the technique. His grandfather had once demonstrated various combat styles from around the world, and judo was among the ones he'd admired.
Though surprised, Grayson didn't hesitate, exchanging fierce blows with the elder.
The old man's skills were sharp and precise, honed through decades of experience. Meanwhile, Grayson's youth gave him a relentless vigor and overflowing vitality. The two were evenly matched for a time.
Their battle was intense, but what truly horrified the Wei family was Wolfy.
The usually adorable and clumsy pup had transformed into a ruthless predator, displaying the cunning savagery of its wolf lineage.
Its fur glowed faintly, streaking like a blur of blue light through the East Gang's ranks.
What was chilling was that each time the blue flash passed, it left a corpse in its wake.
"Stop it! You pigs, block that beast!" Chen Dong roared in panic. He couldn't believe a mere animal was slaughtering his men.
But reality can be harsh and unforgiving.
Wolfy, as a mutated creature, boasted strength and speed both at the max level of 10.
For context, an ordinary human's stats capped at 5. Once stats exceeded this limit, their impact grew exponentially rather than linearly.
For example, while Wolfy's strength stat was double that of a normal human's limit, its power far exceeded what the numbers suggested.
This was why Grayson's strength, though only at 12, was so remarkable. Each additional point above the limit represented a massive leap in capability.
As Wolfy unleashed its full speed, it became nothing more than a faint blue blur in the eyes of the gang members—impossible to track with the naked eye.
Meanwhile, Grayson's excitement grew.
Every time Wolfy killed someone, a notification echoed in his mind.
"Wolfy has slain a hostile entity. Due to the elite mission conditions, enemy kills yield double experience. 2 XP gained."
In just one minute, Chen Dong's gang of 80 men lay in heaps, with only a few still twitching. The rest were dead.
"Wolfy has slain a hostile entity… Distance to next level: 12 XP."
"Stay back! Stay away!" Chen Dong screamed in terror, unable to comprehend how a tiny wolf could wreak such havoc.
At the same time, Grayson's battle with the elder reached its conclusion.
Although evenly matched at first, the elder's stamina waned.
As the saying goes, "youth beats age." At over sixty, the elder's blood energy depleted rapidly, while Grayson's strikes remained ferocious and unrelenting.
Seizing an opening, Grayson delivered a powerful kick to the elder's chest, then grabbed his legs and tore him apart with brute strength.
Crack!
A man, ripped in two.
The crowd gasped, collectively sucking in a breath. Many had seen limbs severed, but witnessing someone torn in half was an entirely different level of brutality.
With his rage momentarily sated, Grayson turned to Chen Dong, his voice icy. "Chen Dong… 'Big Brother Dong,' huh? What a joke. I used to think you were a real man. Turns out, you're just a lackey for East Brother."
I'm going to shorten Wolf Treasure to Wolfy
