Chapter 9: Escort mission

Marcus got into Lavendar town and could hear conversations about the world announcement that was just released, it seems people were having a lot of discussions about who it could be.

'Can't belive I'm talk of the town' he thought.

Marcus went to the Lavendar town guild and saw a long line and saw a long line to get quests.

'I forgot how many people try to get EXP from guild quests' he thought.

He walked past the line and skme people saw him thinking he was cutting.

"Hey, get back in line!"

"Your no different from us!"

"Yeah, you wanna get beat up?!"

He turned to them and sighed.

"I'm not gonna take a local quest, so you don't need to worry" he said before carrying on to the second counter.

"Local quest?" some of them asked.

'People need to start reading the information book' he thought before getting to the counter.

"Hello sir, what can I do for you today? " the clerk said.

"Hello, I'd like to do an escort quest to Velvet town if any are available" he said.

"Let me see" the clerk went to the back to search.

Marcus looked to his left and saw the clerk at the first counter who was flushed with work because of all the players wanting quests. 'Poor girl' he thought before looking away.

The clerk came back and put down three papers.

"Its your lucky day, there are a few available right now and they would really need the help of someone of your caliber" she said with a smile.

'She probably already knows I'm level 3' he thought.

"Alright" he said. He took the one in the quest in the middle without taking a thought, he already knew which quests would be available so it was a no brainer.

"Are you sure about that one, it's the most dangerous" She said with a sad looking face.

"It's the fastest one and I'm in a rush to get there" he said.

"Speed is not as important as your life" She said holding his hand.

"If I live I'll get to Velvet town stronger, if I die then that's all I amounted too" he said smiling.

All the girls in the guild blushed at how cool he sounded and all the guys got mad at how corny he sounded. Marcus didn't mean to sound like either, he was just saying whatever he could for her to let him leave.

He had picked the [Witch doctor Escort] quest.

The witch doctor jn question used the fastest route to get to velvet town that went straight through the [Southern forest] a heavily monster infested area in Eldergard.

The only reason Marcus is confident about doing this quest is because the [Southern forest] had level 3 normal rank monsters and had an Exp reward of 500 that was very tempting, he could earn a decent amount of Exp during and after the quest.

"Alright, but be careful" she said letting go of his hand.

He put the paper in his inventory, but before he could leave.

"Sir player please take this" She said giving him a bronze tag.

'I forgot about tags' he thought.

"You will need this to enter different towns easily" She said.

"Thanks" he said and took the tag. It vanished and appeared on his chest plate. 'Now I remember why I forgot, you don't need to physically take the tag on and off, it will automatically attack to your armor or clothing' he thought as he left.

He went to the West gate of Lavendar town and saw what looked like a beat up carriage that was completely black and was pulled by two horse sized boarsrather then horses. These boars were black in colour and had horns from either side of their head.

"Excuse me" he said knocking on the carriage door.

The whole carriage shook a little before the door opened and a woman with black hair, had pale white skin and dressed in a black dressed that showed off all her curvaceous assets walked out.

She looked at him with her pitch black eyes with a angry look.

"What?!" she asked angrily.

"I'm here for the Escort quest" he said holding the quest page.

"Really?!" she asked in surprise with a more innocent fashion then her previous angry look. "I see, I'm sorry for my little outburst, the locals aren't all that happy about me being here and it must of rubbed off on me" She said giggling and taking the page.

"Not a problem" he said.

"Please come in" She said.

He took steps in and saw the size of the carriage was larger then what it looked from outside. Outside it was a normal carriage, but inside it was a house.

"Nice place" he said.

"Thank you, you can do wonders with space magic" She said.

The door shut behind him and the carriage started moving.

"Have a seat, if any dangers appear it will stop and you do whatever it is you do" she said sitting down.

"Of course" he said sitting down.

After a few hours of riding nothing eventful happened.

"I'll up my Stamina the next time I get AP" he said drinking tea the Witch poured for him.

"We'll stop for rest soon" the Witch said with a smile.

"No problem" he said.

The carriage stopped and he stood up.

"I'll make sure it's clear outside" he said stepping outside.

He looked to the sky and saw the dark orange of the sun set and didn't notice any monsters nearby.

"It's clear" he said.

"Thanks" She said.

The Witch got out and walked to the boars.

"My sweet babies, you must be feeling tired and hungry from all your hardwork" she said giving them hugs.

The boars seemed to be making noises that showed their happiness from being praised.

She waved her hand and food appeared right in front of them. They began eating like that had never eaten before.

"They get quite hungry from the running" She said smiling.

"I noticed" he said.

"I'll get us some food ready shortly" She said goiing inside.

"I'll keep watch out here" he said.

He jumped on to the top of the carriage and stood watch. He had an better view of the surrounding area from here so it was better then the ground.

He heard russling from his left but felt something come from his right. Before it could hit him he unsheathed his sword and blocked it.

"That's the stuff" he said smiling.

He heard more monsters in the forest around them.

"They probably smelled the food" he said jumping down from the carriage. "We'll, doesn't matter, come at me!" he yelled as he threw [Stun bumbs]

[Blood bear<normal>stunned]

He charged towards the monsters and slew them one after the other.

An hour passed and Marcus was gasping for air at the side of the carriage.

"Fuck, that was harder then I anticipated, maybe I should have increased Stamina sooner" he said sipping some water.

"My player, please come in to rest" the witch said as the door opened.

He walked in and saw the witch holding a knife and fork over a plate of food.

"Time to eat" She said.

"Thank you" he said taking a knife and fork.

He looked at the steak in his plate and began digging in.

He almost put the piece in his mouth when he noticed how the witch was looking at him in anticipation.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Ignore me, just eat" She said as she began to eat.

"Alright" he said taking a bite and was surprised to see what he saw.

He looked at the witch baffled.

"You have a cooking skill?" he asked.

"Yes, I noticed you get tired quite easily so I thought I should give you a hand" She said.

"Is it high level?" he asked in anticipation.

"Sadly no, but I'm guessing if it was you would ask me to teach you?" she asked giggling.

"Of course, cooking skills are quite valuable" he said taking another bite.

'That's quite interesting, players aren't usually quick in the uptake, how does he even know what cooking skills are?' she thought to herself.

Marcus finished eating.

"I appreciate the stats" he said.

"Not a problem, your helping me, I might as well do something to assist" She said taking a sip of wine.

Marcus heard a howl outside and ran outside.

"Shit" he said unsheathijg his sword.

A wolf walked out of the forest, it had white fur and black spikes coming out of its skin.

"Why is there a level 5 here?" he asked himself.
