The Combination Of Solid And Liquid

"I was born ready," Tashina answered with confidence.

Chivia smirked and pushed the doors open.

A bright light peeked out from the doors and it was only after the door was closed behind them did Tashina adjust her eyes to her surroundings.

The room was a long, rectangular hall painted in cream, brown, and gold with different costly embellishments on the walls, tables, and a huge glass chandelier hung low from the ceiling to bring out the posh look.

At the center of the room, a lengthy marble table with multiple chairs by its edges stood tall and it looked more like a conference room than a dining room.

About ten or more maids stood by each side of the table with their heads bowed, some were serving the men on the table.

Tashina finally let her eyes roam the people who were seated and she spotted a familiar hair of blonde which she immediately recognized as Ren.

He was dressed in a formal, red and gold suit and his blonde hair was styled to perfection, a single toast hung loosely from his mouth as he sat completely still, his eyes darting between her and the one who was at the head of the table.

With all his glory, the Alpha sat at the head of the marble table, his Majesty's luxurious chair was elevated higher than the other chair to declare his royal status.

He was dressed in a black suit with a shining grey robe on his shoulders. His black long hair which was under his golden crown was left open and the loose strands fell into his broad shoulders.

His blue eyes were boring right into her and it remained there for what seemed like hours until someone broke the disturbing silence while clearing the throat.

"Let's go have a seat" Chivia guided Tashina to the table.

Chivia sat next to the Alpha and across her husband while Tashina settled on her left.

She could still feel the heavy gaze on her side but she cleared all emotions on her face and focused on something else.

The food on the table.

There were a variety of dishes on the table. It varied from baked pastries, bacon, eggs, jam, butter, fruits, and juice.

Although the food looked appetizing, Tashina couldn't find an inkling to eat. Her stomach threatening to wrench out bile any moment.

Her body was exhausted and she needed fluids to regain her lost energy.

Grudgingly, she sipped the orange juice with a small pout.

"You're supposed to sit beside me!" Ren let out a childish whine at his wife.

"Keep quiet and eat your breakfast, my love. It's only for today, you won't die" Chivia rolled her eyes at her husband's silliness.

Ren slumped down on his seat and stuffed huge lumps of bread into his mouth as he grumbled.

Tashina did feel bad for taking Chivia away from her husband but she knew without her next to her side, she wouldn't be able to sit in this room.

A maid came to Chivia's side and served her food on the plate in front of her.

Tashina sighed and took another sip of her juice.

The juice did taste nice but it did nothing to revive her energy back. She wondered where she could get blood from in this enormous castle.

Maybe she could kindly ask a maid for some of her blood.

A burst of snort-like laughter came from somewhere on the table and Tashina looked up to see Xavier masking his laugh with a cough.

She forgot he could read her mind. She now felt his presence in her mind.

"Are you okay?" Chivia asked.

"I'm... I'm fine" Xavier coughed and sent Tashina a playful look.

'You will not be drinking any of my maids' blood, my Lady' he said through the mind link with a snort.

Tashina rolled her eyes and scoffed.

She felt a presence next to her and she was shocked to see a bowl of steaming soup in front of her. She looked up at the maid that brought it for her.

"For me?" She asked as though in doubt if it was poisoned or not.

"Yes, ma'am," the maid said and walked away in a hurry.

Tashina let out a giddy smile and quickly took a spoon from her right. She took her first sip of the savory soup and a wide smile filled her lips.

The soup was made of raw flesh and bones of an animal, it had a lingering taste of blood with a distinct herbal aroma on it.

Tashina could already feel its magic working in her bones.

She was about to take another so when a chair was scraped on the floor and a set of footsteps was headed towards her direction.

She didn't have to look up to know who it was.

Xavier stood by her side with a fair distance away from her and took a loaf of bread from the basket. He used his hand to break it into small pieces and dipped them into her soup.

When he made sure the pieces of bread were soaked with the soup, he dusted his hands and went back to his seat.

Chivia smiled a little at his small act before taking a bite from her toast. Ren just gave him a bizarre look while the maids looked at one another in confusion.

Tashina took a piece of bread with her spoon and when the bread melted in her mouth, she felt ecstatic with the combination of both solid and liquid food.

She took a look at the Alpha who was eating from his plate without a single emotion on his face. She knew he was aware she was looking at him but he avoided her gaze.

'I need some time'

She remembered her demand of last night and was pleased to see him adhering to her wishes.

She took another bite from the soup with a small smile.

The door was yanked open suddenly and four pairs of eyes landed on the figure at the door.

She wore a flowing, black, and white stunning gown with a small white apron at the front. Her brown hair which had white streaks of old age was tied in a low bun.

Her wrinkly yet youthful oval-shaped face with a pair of deep brown eyes and thin lips complemented her long narrow nose.

If one didn't know better, they would have thought she was of royal blood and not the head of the maids.

Her brown eyes settled heavily on Tashina and with a stride of confidence, she walked up to her.

Tashina tilted her head and stared at the old lady with a keen curiosity.

"So you're the one who can't handle solid foods, huh?" she uttered out loud and looked at Tashina from the crown of her head to the tip of her toes.

"Yes," Tashina answered and scrutinized the old lady.

"Because of you, I had to crack up my old brain for an old soup recipe I hadn't prepared in ages" The lady leaned forward.

"Hope you like it?" She gave her a warm smile.

"I did, thank you very much, ma'am" Tashina found herself returning the smile.

"Please, call me Evalet as everyone does. If you need more, just let me know, dear" she pat her on the shoulder with a motherly smile.

"I'm Tashina" She said.

"Nice to meet you, my darling, and welcome to this castle,"

"Letti!!" Chivia stood up and embraced the old lady vivaciously.

"Oh, my dear Chivia. My ears have been in good shape for the last four months you left us" Evalet teased with a smirk.

"Oh, just admit you missed me!" Chivia scoffed.

"I missed you. Everyone did" Evalet smiled and winked at Ren.

"My Loving Letti, how art thou this fine morning?" Ren said with a bow.

"Shut up, Ren. There's no chocolate milkshake left for you" Evalet scowled and Ren pouted.

"Greetings Alpha Xavier" Evalet smiled and gave Xavier a peck on the cheek.

"Greetings, Evalet. I was starting to lose my appetite without you here," He gave her a peck ok the cheek.

"Don't flatter me" she laughed.

"He's always been everyone's favorite" Ren mumbled under his breath and took a sip from his juice.

"What are you doing standing over there? Can't you see her glass is empty?" Evalet snapped at one of the maids and she dejectedly went to fill Tashina's glass with juice.

"She is gorgeous, almost perfect for a Luna" Evalet whispered into Xavier's ear with a smirk and took one more glance at Tashina.

Evalet Luncar has been working in the North-Eastern Castle since she has been a child. She has served two kings successfully and has earned the title of the head of the maids through honor and hard work.

After losing her mate to a tragic accident, Evalet spent her lonely days taking care of the young Xavier and Ren and she filled her heart with the love of those young boys which made her still able to live long without a mate.

She is known to be stern, cold, and head towards the ones working under her and she reserves her warm smiles and hugs for the boys she raised as her own.

Evalet cast a loving smile at Tashina who was staring at her with deep thought.

Tashina was confused and dazzled with how warmly Evalet welcomed her. She thought no one except the royal family would be nice to her here but she was wrong.

She had a good feeling that Evalet was going to be a very important person in her life and she was eager to know more about her.

Chivia nudged her and she looked at her in question.

"Eat, your food is getting cold"

Tashina dug in and felt relieved to know how much effort was put into making the soup.
