Forgotten Rules

Xiaoyi woke up fully rested. Even the injured arm was fully healed.

She puts on her pants before leaving the tent.

"Hey, I got some info about the system!" She said as she left.

When she comes out of the tent she sees that the alert system she made last time was closer to the floor. She felt like an idiot for setting it up so high because the slimes could slide under. The ones that were tall enough to run into it would easily be able to notice it by how high up it was.

"I also have information that I wanted to tell you yesterday before I fell asleep. I also want to eat more than beans."

Weiyuan was stirring a fresh can of beans in the pot.

"You tell me your information first. After all, I saved your life last night." She said while taking a seat next to him.

He looked like he wanted to refuse, but something gave him the impression he wouldn't win. He poured the beans into two bowls and sat with his back against a tree.

"You can increase your stats without leveling up. I was carrying that heavy bag when it suddenly increased my strength."

"So it would be best to train, but I've never trained before. When I leveled up I put one point into strength so I could help you carry the bag. That would be good physical training but how would I train the other stats?" She questioned him.

"I assume by doing something that's hard for the respective stat?" He looked confused.

Why would she expect him to have the answers for something that's new to all of them?

"What did you learn about it?" He continued.

"Well I think after you level up you heal faster. Look, the burn I had on my arm is gone and it was just after one night."

She showed him the back of her arm to straighten her claim. Her skin was perfectly clear. There was no sign that she had ever been injured.

"Wow, that's really cool. You did say you wanted to carry the bag? I guess I'll be the one skipping ahead now."

When they are done packing, Weiyuan carried the bag till they are out of the woods and back on the road. He then put the bag on the ground and started skipping ahead.

Xiaoyi picked up the bag and immediately regretted her decision. Last time she could barely drag it 50 feet. However, now she probably could carry it those 50 feet. If she really pushed herself maybe 100 feet.

So she started walking. This bag had to weigh over 200 pounds. How did the old orc man carry it so easily and with one hand too? How was Weiyuan able to carry it so much yesterday?

After 85 feet she tripped over her own foot and came to a halt. Weiyuan, who skipped away, heard the fall and came back with a sad look in his eyes.

He grabbed the bag and put it on his shoulders and gently helped her up.

"Don't worry. I got this." He said proudly as he started walking.

The beginning was always the easy part. If he could feel like this the entire walk then they would never have to worry about him being too exhausted to fight.

Luckily for him they didn't have to go far. After only an hour they saw two orcs that were bringing back some deer. Both of the orcs had big green bulging muscles and stood around 8 feet tall.

"Hey, do you guys know Tharla?" Xiaoyi asked excitedly.

Both the orcs looked at each other before looking back at them.

"You must be human girl who stay main village few days ago. Main village half a day's trip that way. Distance grew recently. Me confused why." He said while pointing northwest.

Hearing that Weiyuan saw his hopes of finally being done was not true anymore he sluggishly started walking northwest.

"We help small human maybe we get meet chief."

The other orc immediately picked up the bag so the small man didn't have to worry about it then they started walking north. Weiyuan was very thankful for the opportunity to take a break.

They continued north for the rest of the day making it there before the sun set. Xiaoyi realized she didn't want to come back so soon anymore. The orcs were not leading her to Tharla's cabin, they were leading them to the town hall. The same place where the Chief was when she first met him.

"Don't be rude, we are going to see the chief." She whispered in a nervous voice to Weiyuan.

They both could feel the pressure as they entered the building. Weiyuan was not expecting it to be this light. From what Xiaoyi said it sounded like it would be suffocating.

'I guess she is still a kid she might tend to over exaggerate things.'

Once the second set of doors opened he knew she didn't over exaggerate.

"What brings you back so soon?"

Once again she felt the wind move as his deep voice spread throughout the room.

"I came to see Tharla on our way to our destination." She quickly replied.

"Tharla has spoken well of you so I can permit your entry, however what of the man beside you?"

"He is a friend who is guiding me back home."

She was fidgeting with her hands as she watched him stand up. This time the pressure didn't increase but decreased. She was happy that her and Weiyuan were cleared by the chief.

She watched as the chief got closer then saw Weiyuan forced to kneel by an invisible force.

Weiyuan felt the pressure increase 10 fold and shove him down. He looked to the left and saw Xiaoyi standing as if all was normal. When he tried looking straight he saw the feet of the approaching. Was he careless? Should he have been looking at the chief? He didn't want to do that as it may offend the chief. However, now he was forced down without even knowing why.

He saw the chief kneel in front of him. The chief leaned forward and placed his index finger and thumb on either side of Weiyuans head.

"Small man listen, she may not mean anything to me. However, she means something to one of my people. If anyone ever does something that harms my people whether it be emotional or physical they will feel my wrath. If she dies and the reason is unknown you better not watch your back. I'll approach from the front and cause you great despair. So protect her well."

"Yes sir."

The chief then got up, turned his back and sat down.

As he turned his back Weiyuan felt the weight lifted off of his shoulders allowing him to breathe. When the two fingers were on either side of his head he knew they could crush his skull as easily as he could pop a grape.

Xiaoyi thought the chief was going to kill him. In this situation there would be nothing she could do but watch. She is far too weak to stop him.

"You two may leave. Children of mine. Stay for a moment."

The orc that had the bag gave it back to Weiyuan. They then left the room both exhausted and thankful neither of them are dead.
