Chapter 55

"Alpha" Everyone stood up to show him respect

"It's ok. You can all sit. What is the status?" Alex addressed and then took the only empty seat at the head of the table.

The six of them were at the 02 and just like it has always been about being inside the 02, the room was tense. Everyone didn't know the gist of it all. Arnold had acted according to the Alpha's instructions about gathering at the 02 if the situation was dire.

"According to our investigation, the wolf isn't one of us. We carried out a role call for an hour straight and lucky for us, everyone responded with a picture and their locations too. We also confirmed their locations" Arnold started, then stopped to look at everyone but they were all silently looking at him.

"Then where did he come from?" asked old man Eliot

"Now that is where the whole confusion steps in. After confirming that everyone was fine, I asked Cross and Andy to find out the area in which the wolf was found and you will not believe that he was found around 75km from the city"

"Isn't that light town?" asked old man Eliot once again

"That is true" Confirmed Arnold.

"You to say that he has been in this city with us and no one knew nothing about it, not even the government?" Daniel inquired

It was nerve-wracking and also confusing to everyone in the room. Whatever was going on was bigger than they all thought.

"So, what did Cross and Andy find out in that area?" Alex spoke for the first time since Arnold had started.

Cross handed out some papers to everyone on the table "This is the map of the entire light town but the unique thing is that even on-site, there is nothing suspicious. It's either the town is in on this, or the mastermind is a smart son of man. Every house in this town is almost the same in structure and the people are also friendly. We even almost returned, thinking that there was nothing to watch out for. But thanks to Andy who had moved ahead. He saw an old jeep stopping in front of one dilapidated building but no one came out even after an hour and then it drove off"

"Interesting" Alex reckoned there was a deeper thing going on.

"They called me and I tried to find any camera around the building just so I could get into the building thanks to that, we found a total of ten cameras around that weird-looking building" Arnold continued

According to Andy and Cross who had dressed like any other local of Light town, there were no cameras around. They claimed to have used binoculars to zoom in on the structure through all sides but nothing looked suspicious until that one car came through.

"Should have been the wireless ones that can be hidden without a mount" Alex stated

"True. They did it in such a way that even a professional would detect a thing unless hacked into" Everything that had been discussed in the room so far could only point towards one thing; whoever was behind the whole thing was dangerous but also wealthy.

"Anything else after you hacked into the system? old man Eliot was beginning to hate the suspense.

"Nothing. And I am still confused. Who uses so many cameras on the outside just for deco" Arnold was still confused.

Alex turned to look at Daniel, who gave him a smirk and said "Are you thinking what I am thinking?"

Everyone turned to look at Daniel after he had made the statement and found him looking at Alex who later nodded his head.

"Arnold, pull up the blueprint of 02" Ordered Daniel

They were indeed a team to be reckoned with. After Arnold had done so, he was asked to project it onto the white wall. After the blueprint had been projected, Daniel started explaining their hypothesis.

"When you look at 02 from the outside, it only has three floors, and even with the best architects, no one can dissect what is inside without entering." Daniel stopped to look at everyone to ensure that they were following

"I think I understand now. There is an underground structure, just like the 02, right?" Confirmed old man Eliot

"This is getting scary by the minute" Observed Daniel. He loved the thrill that missions brought to him.

"Daniel, reach out to black before we decide anything"

Black was the man in charge of the structural design of the 02 and Alex's home. Alex trusted that he would be able to dissect the structure of the building that they needed access to.

It was already 4:00 am by the time Daniel returned home. He was as quiet as possible, for fear of waking Amber, whom he believed to be asleep. Daniel knew of how she struggled to sleep, each time she was worried about something.

When he got into the bedroom, he went directly into the closet to change into something more comfortable. He came out wearing a T.shirt and joggers, then slipped into the bed beside the love of his life.

Amber, who was deep a sleep felt calmer when Daniel lay beside her. She turned to him, and due to the earlier grievance in her heart, she wanted to feel wanted, so she pushed herself to lay on him and buried her head in his neck.

To Daniel, it felt like home each time he lay beside her. He couldn't remember the last time she climbed to lie on of him. "I am sorry, my love" He whispered in her ears as he pulled the cover on top of both of them.
