Chapter 54
"Weren't you scared?"
"Do I look like a little kid to you?" Amber, who was lying in Daniels's arms asked back
Daniel smiled because he didn't want to call her out, so he pretended not to know. Living among humans had made his girl forget that he could hear some of her thoughts and, also feel the changes in her emotions.
According to what Daniel was getting from her, she was scared when the men started picking from mong the girls, and she couldn't have held herself longer if her lie hadn't gone through.
Daniel knew the kind of woman he was dating, and to say that he was grateful to the moon goddess would be an understatement. She is a stunning woman who turned heads everywhere she went; and she always rubbed it in whenever they fought.
One of the reasons why she didn't want to have a child was because she didn't want her figure to be spoilt. "Do you love your body a lot?" Daniel suddenly asked
"Are you asking me to get pregnant right now?" And just like every day, she overreacted unnecessarily
"Hey, Miss, can we behave like humans,"
"For someone who isn't a human, you sure know how to use them as an excuse, wow Mr. beta." Amber knew how to twist Daniel's words.
"You are so impossible. If you didn't want me to touch you, then it worked. I just lost the mood," Alex said as he left the bed
Amber looked at him, and she felt hurt. She was only joking, but Daniel took it out of context. His statement about losing his appetite had gotten to her, and it hurt a lot. She knew how he hated her sneaky comments, but what she said wasn't in any way meant to offend him.
Whatever was going on with him had taken away his patience for her that night, and she didn't like him feeling down. She needed to apologize so she could at least feel better. He was her mate, and his feelings meant a lot to her.
She left the bed at her night, forgetting to add on a cover-up, and went to find him. When she returned home earlier from the restaurant, she had imagined everything that she wanted him to do to her, and whatever was happening now wasn't part of that.
Alex went to the rooftop to smoke and get some fresh air to cool down. He didn't like how he reacted with his mate, but he couldn't help it. After watching the video about the wolf, he began feeling some kind of way, but couldn't put a finger on the emotion. Whatever sick thing was going on, he hoped that they could get to the bottom of it before it escalated to a point of affecting the life that each one of them was living.
"ring, ring," Sounded his phone. He pulled it out from his pocket to check the time, and it was Cross.
"Cross," Daniel answered.
"....................."
"Give me two minutes, and I will be down with you." Daniel spoke into the phone as he made his way down. Just as he came out of the elevator on their floor, Amber got into another.
He, however, didn't see her and proceeded to enter the house to pick up his jacket. He wrote her a note when he didn't find her in the inside. Daniel guessed that she might have gone to the rooftop to find him. He always went up each time he needed time to think a little.
When she got to the rooftop, it was windy, but to her disappointment, his mate wasn't there. The distress made her feel worse, more than she was. His moodiness might not be because of her, but her sarcastic way of talking pushed his buttons.
She decided to give him a call, but there was no answer. It rang again and again, but Daniel didn't pick up. Amber started to conjure all possible occurrences in head mind as to why he wasn't picking up her call.
Daniel had seen her call but decided not to pick up. With Amber, it would take a lot before she let him go after the little fight they had. He believed that the note he had left would be enough to calm her down.
When he came out of the apartment building, he saw the black G wagon they mostly used at the entrance. He opened the door and went in.
Andy was on the wheel while Cross was in the co-drivers seat. "Beta," they both bowed in respect, and Daniel gave a slight nod.
"Cross, complete status?" He asked
Arnold aslo piscked Alex from his home. He was in the study room where he was speaking with Dawson when he received his assistant's call.
He left the office and went to Malia's room to say goodbye before leaving. It was funny how she had become a part of him in such a tiny person, but he loved the changes she made him feel.
He didn't want to leave her alone at night for fear of the unknown. When he got into her room, he saw her sleeping peacefully, but the cover was at her waist, and just like the previous night, her lights still on.
He went closer, bent over, and kissed her forehead. "I am going somewhere princess." He then sat on the bed and touched her belly "hey, buddies, daddy is going out for work, please be nice to mummy" He then kissed her again on the forehead, pulled the cover till her neck to cover her and adjusted the room temperature "Good night baby."
He then left the room and met Dawson when he came down. "Can you sleep in the guest room, please"
Alex didn't want to leave his family unattended because, with Malia's condition, he was scared. One could say he was unnecessarily cautious, but one couldn't blame him.
"It's ok, Alpha. I will keep your family safe. Have a good night." Replied Dawson as he followed Alex to the door. When Alex was outside the door, he turned and thanked Dawson, who only smiled in response.
