Almost caught

Fu Jie was going to be arrested again, but suddenly, like an angel sent from heaven, there came a familiar deep voice that distracted the man.

"What are you doing over there?" Xiao Jingyi asked as he looked at the guard who was trying to catch the big fish called rich sister (Fu Jie) that was hiding inside this pond.

The guard straightened up his back and turned his head. He immediately bowed his head as he saw the person, "Elder Dayu."

Xiao Jingyi looked at the guard up and down before turning his eyes to the pond that was still moving with soft ripples on top.

"There was a report that he was seen here."

"Don't mind such things. A rat would never want to hide in a hawk's nest. " Xiao Jingyi spoke as he stepped closer to the guard, "Go search the mountains again. If he's here, there is no way he'll ever be able to step out."

The guard nodded as he bowed his head and left the place.

"You too." Xiao Jingyi spoke to the girl who was simply watching the pond with eager eyes.

The girl looked up at her master as she heard him. She bowed her head as she got ready to run away, but she turned her head one last time as she spoke, "The water isn't still... Master should be careful."

When the two had left, Xiao Jingyi glared at the pond as he spoke, "It isn't even deep. Stop acting and stand up!"

It was silent for a minute and in the next minute, Fu Jie popped up from the pond. The droplets of water from the pond were all splattered onto Xiao Jingyi's clothes.

Fu Jie smiled brightly as he looked at the man, "How did you know?"

Xiao Jingyi looked down at his wet clothes and then glanced back at the man who was completely drenched.

"Useless..." He commented before turning his back on Fu Jie and walking away.

It took Fu Jie a whole minute to react as he clumsily got out from the pond, all the while ruining all the poor lotus that were only trying to grow in peace.

"Wait for me!" Fu Jie called out to Xiao Jingyi who seemed to be ignoring him.

The man was walking fast and it seemed to be on purpose as if he were trying to get rid of Fu Jie but in reality, this was his normal speed of walking. He had long legs and he used them to their full extent.

Fu Jie followed the man around the building that looked much alike a house. In fact, after observing enough, Fu Jie was sure that it was a house. The only question that remained was: who was the owner of this house?

Fu Jie didn't see the door that slammed his face into a flat pancake. He cursed as he held his nose that had started bleeding. He looked up ahead only to find that Xiao Jingyi had closed the door on him.

"You!" Fu Jie was about to curse again but he remembered the man's demonic voice and scary face which automatically made him gulp back down the curse that had just started to form. He had a loose mouth but at least he wasn't suicidal enough to curse people who could very well kill him like an annoying mosquito.

He waited outside the door for a minute. He couldn't be too sure but it seemed like this man had helped him once again so for the first time in Fu Jie's life, he wanted to thank someone but if the person wasn't even patient enough to listen to his thanks?

"Don't blame me for being ungrateful." Fu Jie mumbled happily as he turned on his heels and got ready to run away.

He walked a few steps forward and heard the door opening behind him. The smile on his face grew wider as he turned his head to look back but his warm smile was greeted with a piece of cloth that came flying at him.

"You still stink!" The door was slammed shut again after Xiao Jingyi had embarrassed Fu Jie.

Fu Jie took a deep breath as he threw the cloth down and stomped on it angrily.

"You piece of horsesh*t! This Laozi would take revenge! I swear it on my life! Hide yourself well, you pig!" Fu Jie cursed to his heart's content and at this moment, the door opened again. Fu Jie gulped as he saw the scary face of the man. The curses that were forming were all gulped back down and seemed to choke him as his face lost all its color.

Xiao Jingyi threw something else at him before shutting the door once again.

Fu Jie took a minute to respond as the fear made his legs go weak. He kneeled down due to his jelly legs. He felt like he had almost seen the yellow river.

He sighed in relief as he picked up the clothes that he had stomped on. He dusted them and picked them up as he made his way to... He had no idea where he was going but he knew that it wasn't a great idea to go back and ask the man who had already done a great thing for him by not killing him.

He looked around at every corner, trying his best to avoid people at any cost.

There came another turn in front of him and he frowned as he felt as if this house was like a maze.

Where the hell is the exit?!

He was careful as he peeked his head out from the corner, looking at the empty corridor. He sighed in relief as he got ready to walk out but the sigh eventually choked him when he heard an unfamiliar voice speaking really close to his ear.

"What are you searching for, young man?"

Fu Jie felt like if he didn't die in anyone's hands, he would surely die from all the shock he received. He stumbled forward as he looked back at the face of the person who was smiling at him.

"W-who the hell are you...?" Fu Jie stuttered out

The woman in front of him smiled as she looked at him, "Master sent me. You should follow."

The woman turned her back and started walking, leaving a clueless Fu Jie behind.

It took Fu Jie a whole minute to process what the woman had just said as he immediately picked up the clothes that had fallen from his hands and followed after the woman.

He heard the woman chuckle but when he asked her why she was laughing, she only shook her head and didn't reply making him feel as if it was somehow related to him. This woman was certainly laughing at him!

"You should hide from the others," The woman finally spoke up without bothering to look at Fu Jie who was following her like a puppy.

"Hmm?"

"It's not good for you to go around shocking people with your appearance."

Fu Jie was confused as he heard this. He looked down at himself only to find that his clothes were stained with dirt, torn from some places, and were completely dripping water.

He could somehow understand what the woman was talking about.

He looked like a freaking water ghost!

Fu Jie nodded his head in embarrassment as he responded, "Understood."

The woman immediately stopped as she turned around and smiled, "We are here."

"Here?" Fu Jie looked at the door in front of him, "Where exactly is here?"

The woman chuckled as she spoke, "You should head inside and take a bath. Get changed in the clothes that master gave you."

Fu Jie nodded as he listened attentively to the woman. He was paying more attention to what this woman was saying than the attention he paid to his teachers who were teaching him physics.

"After you get dressed, I hope you run away and don't come back," The woman beamed making Fu Jie smile, all the while feeling as if he was somehow being dissed.

The woman nodded and left without wasting another minute on him. Fu Jie looked at her back till she disappeared from his sight.

He opened the door and was met with a bathroom or something more like a bath hall. There was a big tub of water that looked a lot like a swimming pool. This bathroom was pretty huge and almost reminded him of the swimming pool from his vacation house back in his real world.

He felt relief wash over him as he took a bath in the warm water that was so comfortable that he could fall asleep in it without even realizing and would only be able to wake up when he was drowning... On second thoughts, It was better if he didn't fall asleep in it.

He looked at the empty wall ahead as he soaked in the huge water tub. His mind was completely distracted.

He still found it a bit hard to believe that he was here. At this moment, he finally started to miss everything about his previous life that he used to hate. Even his step-brother whom he hated so much was being remembered by him at this moment. If he were to be sent back to his previous life, he would want to try being a better older brother. After all, his brother did nothing wrong so why was he uselessly hating him till now?

He suddenly felt a bit depressed as he realized that he had to go back and there was no way he was going back any time soon. It would be lucky if he was alive till then.

Just like the woman had told him, he took a bath, got dressed, and ran away. He didn't know where he was going but thankfully he wasn't in a forest anymore. He was walking on a street that was pretty crowded.

Xiao Jingyi seemed to have prepared for everything. Along with the clothes, he also gave him a mask that he was supposed to wear.

When he saw a poster hanging up on the street, Fu Jie felt a shiver run down his spine as he looked at the face that was drawn on the notice. It was him. He was now a wanted person with his face pasted everywhere.

It was good that he had a mask to hide away his face or he would have been in big trouble.

"You little piece of sh*t! Give it here!" Fu Jie heard cursing and he immediately reacted. He headed in the direction where the commotion was coming from where there were a lot more people crowded around in a circle.

Fu Jie pushed through the crowd as he tried his best to see the situation.

In the middle of the crowd, there were a few people who were fighting against each other.

"Are you f**king deaf?! Hand it over!" One of the men yelled out as he kicked a boy who looked to be around the age of sixteen. The boy was lying on the ground with bruises all over his body. His hands were covering his head in order to protect it from the kicks of these men who were beating him.

Fu Jie instantly realized that this wasn't a fight, it was a one-sided thrash where the older men were ganging up to beat this kid who seemed to be still wet behind the ears.

"Are you going to act like this?! Good! Let this Laozi beat you to death!" One of the men kicked him on his stomach and Fu Jie could hear the boy whimpering from the pain. It was quite shocking that he hadn't died yet.

Fu Jie looked at the kid and sighed, he felt pity for the fellow, but was he going to step in to help him? Of course not!

He can't even save himself so there was no way he was going to step up to save this boy.

Fu Jie turned on his feet and got ready to head out. It was better to stay out of such fights but when he tried to push through the crowd to exit, who would have expected that he would be rudely pushed back and that too, with such great strength that he stumbled into the center of the scene, falling on top of the boy and receiving the kick on his behalf...?
