Bai then stared across the water. His mind drifted back to a time long ago, to the halls of Golden Valley Academy for Boys, where the seeds of his rivalry with Lay Ming had been sown. He took a deep breath, the cool night air filling his lungs, and unravelled the tale.
"It was the 11th grade," Bai began, his eyes fixed on a distant point on the horizon.
Lai was surprised, not expecting him to actually tell her what truly happened between him and Lay Ming.

"Lay Ming transferred to Golden Valley Academy for Boys during the second term. He arrived like a tempest, disrupting the delicate balance among the students," Bai continued, clasping his hands together, "At first, it seemed like a simple case of a new student entering the scene. Still, Lay Ming carried an air of arrogance that set him apart."
Lai listened attentively, her eyes reflecting the moonlight as she encouraged Bai to continue.
