Before leaving, Cliff needed to evaluate the amount of essence stones he had left to reach demon class. Seated in his tent, now that Rakahn had already departed, he took advantage of the solitude to absorb the essence of two variant stones he had obtained in the last battle.

The reason Cliff hadn't requested the essence stones from the other constant demons was simple: they were useless to him for evolution. Only the variant essence stones were beneficial for this process. However, he could still absorb the constant stones to fill his mana core if needed.

For the first time, Cliff was preparing to absorb two essence stones simultaneously. Of course, he would use his [Drain] skill, but he wanted to experience the sensation this would bring. Holding the rhino demon's essence stone in one hand and the antelope's in the other, Cliff sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and prepared to enter a deep meditation.
