Chapter 2: Cassian Alaric

~Cassian! Aww, my babyyy!~

I heard those unintelligible words from my mother, who was swaying me around while keeping me close to her chest.

It's been three days since I woke up in that hospital as an infant and I slowly was figuring out everything that was happening to me.

I had reincarnated into this body, and am now on a different planet. It's a very futuristic and advanced planet but it looks like it still has an autocratic regime and system, making it a little weird.

'Cassian....'

After hearing that name many times, I was pretty much convinced that that was my name. And after staying with them for the past two days I finally had a little grasp on some words that they were speaking. Of course, I still couldn't understand full sentences but I was slowly getting there.

So after contemplating my circumstances and the way I was found, I came to the conclusion that after dying, my soul got drifted and put into this body somehow.

'How could that happen?', I thought to myself.

After studying for a long time, I'd heard some theories about the soul and how it could've been a very small, quantum entity, that simply disperses and merges with the universe after death. But somehow, my soul wasn't dispersed, instead, it was preserved alongside my memories and then transferred into a new vessel.

'...That's groundbreaking and terrifying technology,' I thought to myself. If this kind of knowledge was commonplace, death could be conquered and nobody would ever have had to die from anything.

'Well, now that I have been given a second chance, what should I do with it?', I thought.

My whole life was just me dedicating my time to studying or working. Even after finding out about my cancer, I was weirdly not able to relax and I would always want to do something.

Now that I was in a new body, in a new world with all kinds of cool, futuristic stuff, what am I supposed to do?

The answer was given to me by my mother as soon as I asked it in my head.

She raised her finger up in the sky and then a bright blue light shone from the tips of her fingers and then left it and illuminated the whole room while slowly flying in the room.

And then more small lights of different colors came from the same finger, filling the whole ceiling of the room with a beautiful scene of different vibrant and bright colors.

The scene was amazing and beautiful and my face was in a state of amazement from the colors and I gasped.

'How is this possible?'

~Oh? Do you like this magic? Do you want me to do more of it?~

The scene was so beautiful and heart-warming that I suddenly started laughing like a small kid.

My mother gave me a really sweet smile and made more of those small lights.

After enjoying the scene for some time, I started thinking about how this was possible, as, even if I lived in a futuristic advanced society, it just looked too unrealistic to be true. I wanted to know more about it.

... It almost looked like magic.

'Maybe this place isn't just a Futuristic world.'

While I was immersed in my own thoughts, looking at the great light show shown by my mom, a man entered the room through the door.

~Does he enjoy looking at the magic?~

~Yes, it's as if his small little cute brain is blown by seeing it.~

My mom giggled after the man who was supposedly my father asked her something.

My dad was also a very handsome individual. He had yellow blonde hair, which made his head shine, along with two green emerald-like eyes, which only accentuated his nice features. He was wearing a black vest underneath a white shirt, with green pants.

My mother was wearing a beautiful yellow dress, which made her look really nice.

Oh also, after hearing them communicate with each other for some time, I found out that maybe my mother's name is Lyra and my father's name is Zaiden.

I also have five siblings, two brothers, and three sisters. The brothers all gave me approving looks, while the sisters all gave me very sweet smiles and loving gazes.

'...quite a big family. I can't believe that I'm literally the youngest.'

~well, if he likes that, I'm sure he'll love this as well~

My father said something and then, he opened his hand, and water started forming in his palm. Soon, the water turned into a really big ball, and then it slowly separated into several smaller balls of water. Then the water turned into all kinds of different shapes and figures above me, all while my father's hand was open.

...he was controlling the water with his brain and making it into different shapes...

Then slowly the water figures started merging with the colorful lights.

Surreal was the only thing that I could think of. It was so beautiful that unknowingly, I started smiling in a very cheerful way.

After seeing my smile, my mom got a little teary-eyed from joy while my father smiled warmly.

'I wanna learn how to do this.'

Those were the thoughts that I had after looking at the scene and taking in its amazingness.

~He likes it a lot. Cassian, this is called Magic~

My mom said something to me, which I didn't understand, but I knew that she was telling me what it was.

Magic.

I decided that while I'm still not entirely clear as to how I wanna spend my second life, I definitely wanna learn Magic.

'Growl....'

A voice came from my stomach.

~Aww, Is my baby hungry?~

My mom said something and then held me closer while my father started leaving the room after saying goodbye to me (I think). Then, my mom started taking out her breast from her dress.

My cheeks started slightly getting redder.

'Ah shit! Here we go again.', I thought to myself as my mom brought my mouth closer to her nipple.

'... I should really learn this world's language faster so that I can read and write'

While I dedicated my life to working and studying, I still had some free time every once in a while, when I used to read web novels, light novels, and the like.

I had read several reincarnation and transmigration novels and so I had a little understanding of how magic works, and if they're any similar in this world, then books would be my biggest help in trying to understand magic better.
