Chapter 1b

~ TITI's POV.~

I looked at the both of them as they left the class. I was boiling with anger but I couldn't do anything. "Mark is my crush!" I said in my mind but demonstrated it out as i bit my lips. I have tried many ways to get him but all plans failed.

I am very rich and beautiful also classy than Nene but he still preferred to be around her.

I could still remember two days to Valentine's day. I tried to pretend I was in trouble. I locked myself in the class after closing hours. Every one has gone home only Mark was around because he is one of the prefects.

I began to cry and scream for help and Immediately he showed up. After finding out the problem, he got the keys and opened the door. I ran to hug him like I was really thankful.

"Thank you" I said and released my hands from his neck. He tried to smile.

On Val's day, I used the opportunity to invite him over for lunch which he accepted after much pleadings and persuasion. I was very happy. He followed me to my mansion. I introduced him to mom coz she was the only parent at home, Dad is a ' busy bee🐝'.

We talked and gisted with Mom and funke, my sister. I thought my web has caught him and that we were automatically friends. My joy was cut short when he saw me the next day and pretended like nothing happened between us.

I felt like dying. 'He's something else' . My friends were surprised at his behavior --- I had told them that we ate together on Val's day.

It was then I knew he was after Nene, the average class girl, ignoring a first class girl like me. "That's foolishness" I muttered.

~ NENE'S POV ~

We went to a place very quiet and cool. There my mind cooled down. I heaved a sigh.

"Thank you Mark" I said with a smile and we sat down on a bench.

"This school is pretty big" I said looking around

"Yeah" He replied . "So what got you thinking that you missed your steps and fell". He asked

I wished he never ask me that question. I sighed and looked at him then looked down. " It's a pretty long story Mark"

"I don't care if it's long or not. just tell me I'm all ears" He said.

"Okay. I had a friend. I mean my best friend ever. That was eight years ago. I met her six months after my father's death. life was so miserable for mother, Ekene and I. I had to stop schooling and hawk fruits and vegetables with my brother. I was just 8 then.

one fateful day , off I was robbed off all my sale. the money was supposed to take me back to school. I was so devastated that I wish to die quickly so I went to the top of a hill with a knife I used in cutting fruits .

As I was about to stab myself to death when a little girl of my age run and held my hands

"Who are you?" I asked angrily

"I'm Munachi. Why do you want to kill your self?" She asked taking the knife away.

"please let me die and stop suffering"

I pleaded but instead she hugged me tight.

"don't say that again" she pleaded

There is she gave me the assurance and decided to help me after explaining everything to her.

Immediately I stop talking

"is that all? Mark asked and i nodded "no"
