In this strange world our civilization moved into, there was no sun or stars, just a constant bright red moon. So the government came up idea, and created multiple magic lanterns, which floated above the entire stronghold. When it was daytime, they would light up the entire lantern magically, and when it was night time, they would off them all.

We still had clocks and pocket watches, so it was easy to time the sunrise from our previous world. And when it was time for the sunrise, the lanterns would begin to glow slightly, brightening by each minute, just like a real sunrise.

And when it was evening time, the lanterns would begin to dim slowly, till it was night time, before it shuts out completely. And the lanterns were so powerful that when they were on, it was no different from the daytime in our previous world.

-

I woke up at the first light of the day, and did lite stretches and workouts, before brushing my teeth and taking my bath. By the time I was done, It was already 6:45am, and breakfast would be ready soon.

I decided to test out one of my spells, just be sure that I really was a inheritor... You never know. I inhaled deeply and left the air to accumulate in my lungs for a while, then exhaled slowly. I then rubbed my palms together fiercely, to get rid of my nervousness.

"Tier one weapon magic, ninja sword" I said in anticipation.

I suddenly felt slightly weakened, as a fist sized black fog materialized before me, and a katana's hilt emerged out from it vertically. The katana's hilt was black, with glowing white stripes on it.

I had learned from rumours back in the outskirts, that siphoned relic abilities were powered by the soul's force. And that each time you cast a spell, your soul force weakens, till it gets exhausted. Then you'd have to wait for it for strengthen before you can cast another spell. And the duration for a soul force to strengthen, depended solely on the individual's potential.

I could feel my heart leaping in joy, as I inhaled deeply again, then slowly exhaled shakily in excitement. I then clenched and unclenched my right fist multiple times, before slowly wrapping my fingers around the katana's hilt, and pulling it out from the fist sized black fog.

Pulling out the katana felt like my greatest achievement in life, as I could feel a strong connection with the sword. I completely pulled out the sheathed katana from the fist sized fog, which dispersed immediately, and stared at it with true love. The sheath still looked the same as it previously was, the only difference was the visible dark aura seeping out from it.

I admired it for a while, then slowly unsheathed it. A painful headache suddenly struck me, along with waves of information... Informations on a thousand years of training and fighting with a katana, all in a second. Then the headache vanished as suddenly as it came.

I was dumbfounded at how I had become a katana veteran, in just a second.

The katana blade was now pitch black, with glowing white runes symbols carved on to the blade. It was exuding thick dark aura, and was giving the vibes of 'don't mess with me'.

I damn loved it.

I flicked the blade around me skillfully, and slashed out like a ninja assassin. The headache didn't just come with waves of information, it also came with the experience. I felt like a deadly assassin trapped in the body of a kid.

'Just how did I even become a inheritor?' I muttered to myself in curiosity.

*Knock*

"Good morning, breakfast is ready" I heard a lite knock on my door, accompanied by Elena's voice.

"I'll be down in a sec" I replied, and unwilled the katana.

When Mr Frederick came home last night, he came up to my room, and handed me some clothes he had purchased for me. So I was currently putting on a thick black baggy pants, with a neat white sleeveless shirt. The clothes were made of topnotch materials, and I was now looking civilised for the first time in my life.

I walked into the bathroom, and stood before the full body mirror. Staring at the reflection of a lite skinned, white haired boy, who had sea blue slitted pupils, a small pointed nose, and soft lips. He had a sharp look, with his rough hair which was tied in a ponytail, and his slightly pointed ears.

I nodded to my reflection in approval, then exited the bathroom, and headed for the door.

Mr Frederick house was a four bedroom simple duplex. Though I haven't been on the outside, but the interior design was just perfect for a middle class family. The living room and dining room were downstairs, along with Mr Frederick storage room, and the general bathroom.

While four bedroom were upstairs, along with a smaller living room. Each of the bedroom had an inbuilt bathroom, and was moderate in size. While the smaller living room led to a balcony, which had a nice view of the area.

I jogged down the stairs which led down to the dinning room, and saw Mr Frederick sitting at one end of the wooden six seater dinning table.

"Good morning sir" I greeted, with my head lowered slightly.

"Boy, how are you doing?" Mr Frederick asked, and sipped from a tea cup he was holding.

"I'm good, thanks for the hospitality" I said, and sat on a chair on the opposite of where Elena was sitting.

"You're always welcomed... What's your name by the way?" Mr Frederick asked with a muffled tone, as he had stuffed his mouth with a honey bread.

"Alex, Alexander Bruno" I replied, and took a sip from the already prepared sweetened tea.

"Nice... So what are your plans?" Mr Frederick asked, while wiping his lips with a white handkerchief.

"I'd like to find a well paying job, and I'd also like move out when I get enough cash. I feel like I'm intruding" I replied, and bit down on a honey bread.

"That proves you were trained well. Elena will tour you around the city later, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask, okay?" Mr Frederick said, and stood up, "I'll be leaving now" he added, and waved at his daughter, then walked out.
