"What???"
I blurted out as I looked behind my shoulders. Meanwhile, the owner of that annoying car continued beeping on his darn horn.
"What now?"
I reiterated more forcefully this time.
"We are in the middle of something here. So, go around!"
I added afterward as I put my hands in the air and let out an exasperated sigh.
'HAAY!'
What I hated the most was when someone was trying to interrupt me while I was in the middle of a conversation.
At this point, I am pretty sure that if there was one paying attention to my appearance at all, he or she would probably see that my face was almost, already streaked with heavy black lines. At the same time, there was a high chance that a green vein could possibly be seen appearing at my neck.
Yet, despite those obvious signs of my utter vexation upon our current situation, the godforsaken driver did not even seem to have properly working eyes to see my increasing frustration.
'Come one, dude?! You should know how to read a room!'
Anyway, so there he was, staying on the same driving lane; car faced towards us.
"Drive around, arsehole!"
My voice raised an octave higher when I said that and that seemed to manage and pull the driver's senses back to reality. The other party indeed drove around just like what I told him.
"Huh! Could you believe that?! What a rude fellow to begin with. His audacity to interrupt me as I was speaking to someone."
I said my thoughts out loud but I was saying it more to myself.
I must admit, I got a little distracted because of it.
But then when I turned my attention back at the mortal girl that I was talking to, she has this disapproving look on her face as though she could not believe her eyes after seeing my little antic display there.
She probably could not believe how my character could shift so drastically like that; because when I first tried to talk to her, I obviously tried to make myself sound as kind as I could.
With her eyes wide open as big as saucer plates, she followed the car as it sped past through us.
'EHEM'
I deliberately cleared my throat to get her attention back to me.
"So, there you go. They're demons."
I said and resumed from where I left; trying to act as though the untimely interruption from a while ago did not happen in the first place.
However, when she saw me acting as if nothing happened, it seemed to snap the last thread of her patience.
"You know what? This is insane. None of these was making sense to me. I better go."
She made it clear for all eyes to see that she no longer wish to have anything to do with neither me nor the demons that I was talking about.
She turned her back on me and intended to leave. Yet before she could even getaway, I warned her.
"It is definitely out there and they are after you now."
She halted her steps when she heard me said that. But she did not turn around to meet me so instead I walked towards her.
"Remember what happened to you last night? I am pretty sure that it won't be the last time that you would encounter such incidents."
I heard her drew in a large mouthful of air. Probably an attempt to calm her nerves. I figured that this was precisely the same reason why she came back to check this place again right the very next day after she was attacked.
She was worried that they were going to get back to her and it goes without saying that her concern was not exactly unfounded. If anything, it was even spot on.
"The guy who attacked you last night was still out there; lurking in the shadows, probably watching us as we speak. There are so many people out there that was like him and they clearly won't allow you to live in peace again, not now that they learned of your ability to see through their disguise."
"I never live my life in peace though."
I heard her comment softly under her breath so I asked her to repeat it for me.
"Are you saying something?"
I feign ignorance and inquired to her, but she was quick to deny her own words.
"Nothing."
She said with a despondent tone as she shook her head slowly.
Based on her response, I figured that she only happened to speak her thoughts out loud but has no intention of talking about it so I no longer pursue the matter.
