I had to stay in the hospital last night for observation. Uncle Nolan and Aunt Brook, along with Major, stayed with me all night. Dad and Ma worried but didn’t want to leave my siblings alone. We didn’t know why.

The next day I awoke and cringed because of my ribs and nose. Uncle Nolan checked on me. /"Hey, Lu. How are you feeling?/"

/"As I got hit by a truck./" I winced.

/"Well, take it easy. I’ll get the doctor to check on you,/" he said as he left the room.

Aunt Brook looked at me. /"Oh, Hunny. You worried us./"

/"I know. I’m so sorry, Aunt Brook./"

/"Hun, there’s no reason to be sorry. Someone did this to you./"

/"But why? I mean, I remember going to the bathroom. The next thing I knew, someone hit me in the face, then kicked me. They said it was a warning to Ma and Dad. What did they mean it was a warning?/"

/"I don’t know./"
