"Why are you worried? You too can become that strong. That's my ultimate goal, make you immortal so we never die." Vixen spoke with a hint of curiosity, she didn't understand why Lance would be scared.
"Wait! I can become immortal?" This got Lance thinking. Becoming immortal, who wouldn't want that? Even if, in trillions of years, the universe stopped existing, if he were a god, he could make a new universe.
"Yes, of course, you can. Why else would I say it." Vixen let out a little grunt, thinking to herself that Lance is nothing but a primitive monkey. She looked over at his stats, specifically his intelligence marked at two. 'Well, can't say he's too smart'.
"Hey! I am smart. You're the one treating me like a child. I bet you're younger than I am". Lance retorted at Vixen's thoughts. Due to them being connected, both their thoughts can transfer between each other. Lance heard Vixen's thoughts, as though they were his own.
"Sorry, I forgot for a second. Either way, I may be younger, but that doesn't mean I'm as dumb as you." Vixen puffed her cheeks up in anger at Lance as he laughed.
"Oh my god, what are you, just born yesterday?" Lance couldn't help himself. He finally found something to use against her.
"Grrrrr". Vixen angrily growls at Lance while glaring at him. "Let's just continue please." She took a deep breath and continued, "HP, or Health points, is how much life you have. Basically, if you get shot or punched, this lowers. Once it hits zero, that's the end. There are ways to prevent death once you reach zero, but those are very costly." Vixen talked fast, hurrying along her explanation in anger.
"So, if I have enough money, I'm immortal without having to be powerful?" This very much intrigued Lance. This meant he wouldn't have to worry about dying as much.
"Moving on!" Vixen wanted to get this over with. "Energy is used for magic skills, as well as technical skills. Both active and passive alike. The stronger the skill, the faster it's used up. Stamina on the other hand is for combat skills, as well as your overall ability to last in a fight. Use it all up, and you won't be able to move anymore. Making you an easy target."
"So, basically the same as 'Ever-Long Nights'? Should be easy to remember." Lance was now getting eager to leave the void and enter a planet to test all this stuff out.
"Not exactly, but close. either way, the last, but the longest part, Classes." Vixen knew this would be the longest-winded portion of the tutorial.
Vixen took a deep breath and let it out. She looks at Lance before beginning. "There are multiple classes to choose from, each with its own perks and weaknesses. Each class also branches off, and then those classes branch off, and those, and so on. To start, you can choose any class, and if you max it out, you can advance, or choose another class. As I said before, you can freely change classes, as long as you learned them to begin with. So, if you choose a Mage, But wanna switch to Squire, you need to be taught the class beforehand."
"Fairly easy. So I can learn all the classes, level them up, and change freely. Do the advancements stay as well?" Lance was truly paying attention this time.
Surprised, Vixen blinked while looking at Lance, she thought for sure that Lance would just ignore her. "Yes, Though whatever path you choose will be locked. Of the 5 Known classes, you can freely change between them. Though class advancements are final, choose what best suits you. Now, I won't go into advancements, but let's go into classes. Of the several places we can go, at most, you can learn 4 classes there." Vixen spoke more freely and with a smile across her face.
Lance began rubbing his chin in deep thought. "So, that means, I'm gonna be able to choose here, and we will go to a place that has that corresponding class?"
"Correct, though if you wanna learn the max 4, I can help select the location." Vixen is enjoying this as excitement could be heard in her voice. She was also enjoying the attention she was getting from Lance. She thought to herself that maybe this passenger/host relationship will benefit her.
"So, the 5 known classes are; Technician, Mage, Archer, Brawler, and Squire." Vixen lays out the class choices for Lance before explaining in more detail. "The Technician class is the building and manipulation of all forms of technology. They can build armor, even giant Mechs. Or create an army of AI robots." As she explained the Technician class, Vixen could see Lance completely engrossed in what she was describing. With a smile, she continued, "The mage class is all about magic, whether it be for destruction, healing, conjuring, or bringing back the dead. They are an all-around long-range, True damage."
"So, basically, those two can create an army to fight for me while I stay away from danger." All Lance can think about, is how to stay alive the longest. Having an army and staying away from the fight sounded like the best for survival, though he felt it would be considered cheating.
"Yes and no, those are much later in the levels and require certain advancements." Vixen continued with her explanation. Trying to get back on track, "The Archer class, like its namesake, is long-range. Their main focus is a single target and quickly eliminating them from a distance. The Brawler, much like the archer, is a single-target Tanker. Deals heavy damage to a solo person, while being able to take hits repeatedly."
"So both are single target DPS. If I'm surrounded, then I should kiss my arse goodbye." Lance couldn't see those classes being much use to him.
"Again, Yes and no. Later levels, they will be able to take on hoards of enemies." Vixen breathed in slowly, the last class in this tutorial and then they can finally leave the void. "Lastly, Squire. It can deal with enemies at close and medium range, as well as take a beating. Much later levels, they will be able to fight at long range as well, but not nearly as good as other classes." Vixen let out a long breath. "With that out of the way, how many classes do you want to learn, and which class do you wanna start with?"
Lance looked down while rubbing his chin and goes deep in thought. Of all the classes, Squire is the most well-rounded, but he likes the idea of a personal army. After a lot of deliberation, Lance finally came to his decision and told Vixen his choice, "I really wanna learn them all, but I should choose the squire as my main class. Better survivability odds that way."
"I couldn't agree more." Vixen was very pleased with his thought process and his final decision. As their lives are intertwined, she needs him to survive for as long as possible. "I found a location with the Squire, Technician, Mage, and Brawler classes. Is this acceptable?"
"Perfect, the classes I wanted anyways. Let's do this.... Partner." Lance shot her a wink while smiling brightly. With his new life about to get underway, Lance's excitement started to show through. Standing there, waiting for everything to begin, he smiled with anticipation.
"Oh boy." Vixen just shakes her head while smiling. "Initiating stasis program now. You will wake up in a moment. See you soon." Vixen waves and smiles back as she disappears. All the menus close with her departure.
'Okay, let's do this.' Lance prepares himself for this brand-new world. Just as he begins to rub his hands together, a sharp pain envelops his body. "AHHHHH!" He screams out in agony. and his vision fades.
*
Moments later, he awakes inside the stasis chamber. Fog enveloped the glass door of the pod, so much so that it made it impossible for Lance to see through. Some ice emanated from the edges of the glass, indicating to Lance just how cold it was inside the chamber.
HSSS!
The seal on the chamber opens and lets out the trapped gasses. Groggily, Lance pushes the door open and steps out. Unsteady on his feet, he stumbled and nearly collapses to the ground. His vision took a few minutes to adjust to the new light surrounding him. After a few seconds of fuzzy vision, he looked around the room and spotted all the high-tech gizmos and gadgets. Computers with holographic displays and all kinds of gadgets that seem too advanced for his mind.
"How are you feeling? How's the new body?" a woman off in the corner of the room turns around in her chair to face Lance. She's a slender woman, middle age, roughly 30 years old. She's wearing a lab coat that hangs down almost to the floor as she sits. She has long green hair tied in a ponytail, with dark brown eyes hiding behind her glasses. The most remarkable feature was her skin. Out of this world, Blue. Reminds Lance of the blue men group from home. "Welcome to planet Galorin. My name is Shelda, nice to meet you." Shelda put on a bright smile as she fixed her glasses.
'Blue humans? Now I've seen it all.' Lance mused to himself.
'Not quite buster, this is only the tip of the iceberg. Just wait'. Vixen's voice sounded in his head. He's beginning to wonder if he'll ever get used to it.
