The Empoyee

"How might you please me, Miss Parker?" "How would you want me, Mr. Holden?" I should stop. It was only a tease I had mindlessly put up, hoping to get a longer moment with him, listening to whatever I had to say, but apparently, he was a persistent young man, one who would get to the end of every matter started. "I'm only scared we don't speak of the same thing here" He followed. "Oh, I very much follow, Mr Holden" "Here's the thing Miss Parker" He began, figure tearing off the chair, approaching my form. I fretted at his incoming profile, eyes averted away, not daring to meet that striking gaze of his. Even in the calming space, I could feel the burn that rushed to my chest. He had soon pulled up beside my form, eyes peering on at my warded off profile. "I'd like to see how so well you think can please me" He called. "If you manage to have me forget how troublesome the morning has been, then I assure you, the position is all yours" Eyes had snapped up to him at once, gaze beholding the sincerity in those grey eyes. "Also.....He paused for a long minute, figure inching closer.....If you manage to have me aroused........ He drew even nearer, breath so close, it fanned against my neck. "Then you, Miss Janet Parker, will be the company's new marketer to be employed" *** He is a 24 year old heir to his father's company. She is a 28 year old lady, fired from her last job for burning the CEO with hot tea. A fiery one she is, not until she meets a man, who is just intent on breaking her.

My eyes shifted through the scrutinies before me, all watching, accessing, and awaiting my entry into the office.

If I hadn't the checked the calendar on my desk this morning, I could have mistaken today for Christmas.

But work never went on during Christmas days.

Perhaps it was Easter.

No, it wasn't.

And only then did I take sight of the large bouquet of flowers rolling in on a trolley, with a familiar figure tagging behind.

On his lips, spread a wide grin, with eyes centered my way, I watched him draw even nearer.

"Forgive me for taking too long" The voice of Diego filled the area, with every of his utterance accompanied with murmurs from the workers around, I just could see the joy those eyes held onto.

Why was he here?

Is that the most concerning issue at hand, Jane? Why does this man whom you barely have had a proper conversation with, have a bouquet of flowers spread across your feet!?

"I awoke this morning, and all I could think of was you, Janet" He followed.

My words had been lost since the moment I walked in here, but even more lost, at the sight of his figure drawing nearer, hands reaching for mine.

"Now, I only would be battling myself if I had acted otherwise, and ignored my spirit craving to have one moment yet again in your company"

And with that, the young man had gotten to his knees, arms spread out. His voice had managed to the ruckus that had spread around, with every eye focused his way.

No, more like awaiting me. Waiting for me to make a move that will pull about the hullabaloo, and spark the fly of words around.

"Accept these bouquets from me, J"

I couldn't tell if I was most concerned at the fact that his eyes were rushing with worries, not to forget the mix of excitement in that gaze, or at the fact that he called me 'J'

"Go on a date with me...Please"

And then followed the cheers, with a round of applause coming from people I barely had spotted around before, all chanting "Yes"

Whatever was going on?

My gaze shifted to the man knelt away, a slight grin on his lips, with eyes pleading for mine. Only now, did I wish I had stayed back at home, skipping work for the day, but that would be of no good to my position in a company I only began working at a months ago.

Diego still had that grin centered on his lips, with hands pulling out a rose from the bouquet behind him, I watched him hold it out for me to take, gaze never letting go of mine.

I hated roses.

With utter hatred, I did.

I was more the daffodil type, or chrysanthemums, or lilies, or any other thing that hadn't been the symbolized of blindness show of affection since the dawn of time.

The cheers could still be heard around, with the people around loving such unusual scene they had been so lucky to have stumbled in on.

And only then did the figure of Adalynn burst into the area, eyes widened at the ruckus that had formed.

"What is going on here!?"

The call of her voice had managed to put an halt to the clamor at once, with eyes turned her way, they all gave a path for her to pull forward onto where my figure was.

"Oh, Lord. Why does it have to be you, Janet!?"

Her voice was edged with a tone of frustration, disapproval, and utter concern.

I might be against her for every other thing she so happened to do, but at this moment, I was more than grateful for her timing.

She had saved me from what I would deem sheer torment, and only that, had me pulling a smile up at a lady that would have it out for me every single day.

"Miss Parker!" She snapped at once, eyes shooting daggers my way.

"Report to the director's office, now!"

She had soon spun to the form of Diego still knelt low to the ground, and with a much better expression held on her face, she helped him up his feet, a weak smile on her lips.

"Please, Sir. Let's take it all outside" She muttered in a low voice, pulling the gentleman away.
