The Empoyee

"How might you please me, Miss Parker?" "How would you want me, Mr. Holden?" I should stop. It was only a tease I had mindlessly put up, hoping to get a longer moment with him, listening to whatever I had to say, but apparently, he was a persistent young man, one who would get to the end of every matter started. "I'm only scared we don't speak of the same thing here" He followed. "Oh, I very much follow, Mr Holden" "Here's the thing Miss Parker" He began, figure tearing off the chair, approaching my form. I fretted at his incoming profile, eyes averted away, not daring to meet that striking gaze of his. Even in the calming space, I could feel the burn that rushed to my chest. He had soon pulled up beside my form, eyes peering on at my warded off profile. "I'd like to see how so well you think can please me" He called. "If you manage to have me forget how troublesome the morning has been, then I assure you, the position is all yours" Eyes had snapped up to him at once, gaze beholding the sincerity in those grey eyes. "Also.....He paused for a long minute, figure inching closer.....If you manage to have me aroused........ He drew even nearer, breath so close, it fanned against my neck. "Why are you here?"

It took me everything not to break the gaze of the woman before me.

"I thought I had informed you not to step foot here, dear"

"Mr Holden invited me" My voice was low, eyes anywhere but hers.

"I'm only here for him" I called firmly.

The laugh that came tumbling out her lips, had me staring blankly at that profile, gaze beholding the amusement that had filled her eyes.

"You amaze me" She called in a low voice.

"Janet, is it?"

She scoffed at the nod of my head, eyes beholding the approaching form of Kristoffer.

"It's funny cause you're toying with your position in the company" Her voice poured so soft, yet, I could feel the threats that came with them.

"You're forgetting that I could have you out by the dawn of tomorrow" My gaze beheld those eyes, the weight of her words hitting, and then soon came the crack of the tension that had formed, with the figure of Kristoffer pulling up right before mine.

"Jane"

I let his eyes pull mine, gaze softening at his profile.

"You came" He pronounced, like it was something bewildering.

Of course, I came.

Specifically to see your mother rage.

Okay, to be honest, I came because I wanted to see him. I wanted to stare at that profile while those eyes beheld mine. Be close to him, while his voice bounced into my ears.

He looked even dapper, hair grown a few inches longer, still, that couldn't take the strength the profile of Mr Holden bore.

He was utterly fetching!

I caught the grin that tugged at his lips, with his form pulling even closer to mine, I dared not avert my gaze from his. I only stared on as he pulled closer, mindless of the figure of his mother right before us.

One could only imagine the rage while she watched him pull to me, and only then did a form from nowhere cloud my view, and right before my eyes, I watched Kristoffer lock lips with a girl I never had seen before.

A smile crossed her lips the moment she pulled back, with eyes holding onto his, I saw the life that filled the gaze of that lady.

"Maddison" His breath was low, eyes shifting from her, to the figure of his mother, and finally taking a rest on me.

In that moment, I was englobed with a range of emotions—Shock, confusion, hurt.

My chest burned. Burned with a feeling that ripped at my insides.

It shouldn't hurt this much. Why ever should it?

But I tell you, it hurt me much more than I'd like to admit.

And in a second, I watch the girl pull Kristoffer away, leading him to a corner where a number of figures could be made out.

Their voices bounced into the air, and with hands bearing wine cups, they all made merry, laughing and clinking glasses.

"Janet" I turned to the profile of Mrs Holden stood next to mine. With a soft expression held on her face, she drew even nearer, resting her hands on my shoulders.

"Do enjoy the night"

And with that she was walking away, hands waving at each person she came across.

I didn't wait to be told that I had overstayed my welcome, and at once, I spun around, taking the door with which I had walked in minutes ago, turning away from a night, that wasn't well in accommodating my emotions.
