The Empoyee

"How might you please me, Miss Parker?" "How would you want me, Mr. Holden?" I should stop. It was only a tease I had mindlessly put up, hoping to get a longer moment with him, listening to whatever I had to say, but apparently, he was a persistent young man, one who would get to the end of every matter started. "I'm only scared we don't speak of the same thing here" He followed. "Oh, I very much follow, Mr Holden" "Here's the thing Miss Parker" He began, figure tearing off the chair, approaching my form. I fretted at his incoming profile, eyes averted away, not daring to meet that striking gaze of his. Even in the calming space, I could feel the burn that rushed to my chest. He had soon pulled up beside my form, eyes peering on at my warded off profile. "I'd like to see how so well you think can please me" He called. "If you manage to have me forget how troublesome the morning has been, then I assure you, the position is all yours" Eyes had snapped up to him at once, gaze beholding the sincerity in those grey eyes. "Also.....He paused for a long minute, figure inching closer.....If you manage to have me aroused........ He drew even nearer, breath so close, it fanned against my neck. "Oh, Jane"

I beheld the forced smile on the face of the lady before me, eyes narrowed at my form proceeding out of Kristoffer's office.

"I didn't know you were in there"

"You must have met Mrs. Holden, then. A charming one she is" She uttered.

"Although you might beg to differ since she happened to walk in on you, screwing her son"

For a split second, I struggled not to give her the reaction she so yearned to get from me, but my lips had without warning parted open at the drop of her words, eyes left gaping on at her form.

"Oh I've happened to know for a while, now" That grin of hers that managed to cross that pretty face, was all but sheer terror, one in disguise of a sweet lady.

"You didn't think it would arouse suspicion with you always being in his office, when your department was a floor from his?"

"I ushered her in" She let out. "Just so she could see with her own eyes the lady who wouldn't have her legs shut"

The words of Adalynn bounced into my ears, eyes beholding a mix of all I dreaded to see.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Jane"

"One that would soon have you walking out of here with nothing but regrets"

"It's only a matter of time before your actions leave you jobless, and trust me, I'll be here to tell you that I warned you" She called.

"Now get to work!" She spat at once. "You're being paid for a reason"

***

The eyes of Susy snapped up to me upon my entrance.

Gaze rushing with delight, as she held out a cup before her.

"Banana pudding!" She squealed with glee, arms already stretched out.

But her hands pulled back, the instant my form moved past hers, the silence soon breaking in.

"Janet?" Her tone had dropped, figure tearing off her chair at once, while pulling up to

my side.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine" I turned at once, not daring to look at her, scared that at the meet of that gaze, all of the embarrassment, shame, and happenings of the past days, might only sum to me bursting into a long hour of tears.

Tears I wouldn't want her to witness.

Still, at the touch of her hands on my shoulders, that soft voice of hers to go with, I broke.

I was left with nothing but letting the tears englobe me, while her arms wrapped around my form.

"Janet" She whispered, hands patting my back softly.

"It's alright"

"Whatever it is, believe me, it will be fine" She followed.

"Will it though?" My voice wavered, eyes beholding hers.

"Ever since my first day here, all I've ever witnessed is nothing but things out to ruin me"

"Don't say that" She had called at once, arms soon pulling me closer to her body.

But how could a girl like Susy understand? What really was I venting for? What were the things that caused this pain?

Was it those harsh words that had poured out the lips of Adalynn, or could it be the storm-in of a lady, who so happened to be wife of the head of the company, coming to see me making out with her son.

Perhaps it was the fact that I was left battling the feelings that grew inside me. The feelings I chose not to spare much attention to.

Those feelings that found me drawn to that particular person.

What exactly was it.

Those little make-out sessions, I only wished to turn into something more.

He never spoke more if it, instead, it would only be me ending up in his arms.

Yet, last night, was everything. At least, it was for me.

It was enough comfort.

The only time we had engaged as man and woman, yet it got a hold of me, I so hoped not to forget.

"Is this about, Mr Holden"

My eyes had snapped to the eyes of Susy, figure soon pulling out of her hold.

"I've known for a while now, Janet" Her voice was low, eyes meeting mine.

"I mean, I'm not one to intrude, but I found myself itching to know after seeing him coming out of the restroom, a few minutes after you did" She followed.

"What restroom?" My eyes sought every answer, gaze shifting between hers.

"Back at the company's dinner" She followed.

"The same one that was thrown a few nights after my arrival here"

"Also, my thoughts were clarified the day I walked past his office and I happened to hear you" She followed.

"What?"

"It's alright, Janet" She called, holding my hands in hers.

"I don't think a lot of people know about it" She brought a smile to her lips.

Obviously, she was wrong. Cause, if she knew about it, then every other person must know about it.

The bursting open of the door had managed to snap me out my thoughts, with the figure of the same lady I had come across minutes ago, making her way in.

Mrs. Holden. My eyes beheld her form pull forward, taking a stop right in front of the desk before me.

"What is your name?" She demanded.

Yes, my own voice happened to lose its functioning at the moment. With eyes only staring back at the lady before me, I watched the grace she had managed to walk in with.

"What is your name?" Her tone was even stronger this time.

"Janet, ma'am" I stood to my feet, eyes watching her.

"Janet" She pronounced.

"You might receive an invitation to a party tonight..... She took a pause, fingers tapping at my desk..... But whosoever it's from, do not honor it" She finished.

"The party is being hosted by me, and I'm telling you now.....You're not invited" And with that, she was making her way out the office, leaving my eyes following her departing figure.

"Is that Mrs. Holden" The voice of Susy followed, eyes broadening at once.

"She is"

"Oh, I knew it by the air she happened to walk in here with"

"It emitted power" She whispered.

"Although...She pulled closer to me, hands resting on my shoulders.... Such power could be overlooked when you have to do just what you need to"

"Where I'm from, it's bad luck to reject an invitation" Her words were followed with a stroke of her fingers on my cheeks.

"So if I were you, if that invitation gets to me, I wouldn't dare turning it down, especially if it comes from my boss" She winked, eyes watching the grin that tugged at my lips.

"You know, Jane. Sometimes, we have to leave for the drama"

Screw the authorities!" She yelled, hands flashing the middle finger, while her form had shot off at once, skipping around the area, with the sound of her laughs pouring into the space.
