“Your kids aren’t worried,” Gene said. “They’re in on it.”
“Are you serious?” Howard said, a scowl crossing his face.
“Nothing but,” Gene said. “I heard Marjorie talking to Jason the other night on the phone. He took the kids out to eat and hired movers to pack his apartment into a U-Haul on the day he moved back into your house.”
“While I was cleaning all day? Those jerks. I should go pull him out of that bed and give him a piece of my mind. Can you guard the door for me for five minutes before hospital security arrests me?” Howard asked.
Gene chuckled. “Or you could have revenge.”
Howard smiled. “You’ve got some ideas?”
“Several came to mind while I was watching him stress you out. Of course, you don’t want to forget Marjorie and the kids.”
“Never,” Howard said. “How could I forget them when they’ve been such great helps?”
