Chapter 2

Eirwin regard the woman sitting in front of him with mild interest, had she never met a dragon before? He found that rather impossible to believe considered the mixed world that they had lived in for past few decades.

"Indeed, are you surprised?" He asked as he analyzed her facial expressions, for a human, she didn't look like a daft one compared to some of the others who had been picked without his consent as potential candidates to be his personal.

"No, I've met many dragons over the years." Heather quickly explained, trying to contain the excitement that had begun to bubbling up inside of you.

"It's just.." She trailed off as she leaned closer to the other to get a closer look at his face. Eirwin instinctively pulled back when she did this, not exactly thrilled to have a stranger he didn't know all that well leaning so close into him.

"Your eyes, the temperature in this room, and the elegant and cool aura that comings off you leaves me to believe that you must be an ice dragon. One of the rarest on this face of earth from what I have heard." Heather explained, sitting back down in her chair after she was satisfied with her inspect of the other's face and fairly certain that she wasn't wrong in her assessment.

"Oh? You can tell that much just by those facts alone?" He asked a touch impressed. Most people didn't pick up on those facts when they came to have their interview with them. Most of them chalked up the chilliness in the room to them being nervous on edge because of the job they were applying for. Others blew off his aloof and cold attitude on the fact that he was a successful man who had a lot going on and didn't believe he had time to waste on those below him that didn't fit his needs.

"I think that anyone who has spent a lot of time studying dragons would be able to pick it up." Heather replied with a shrug of her shoulders as though what she had figured out wasn't that big of a deal.

"Would it surprise you then if I told you that out of the hundreds of applicants I have been sent over the past month that you're the first to figure that out?" Eirwin asked as he folded his hands on the desk and he continued to study here. Perhaps Alfred hadn't made a bad choice in his candidate this time around.

Heather was at a slight loss for words after hearing that there had been hundreds of applicants before her who had tried to get into this position more than she paid attention to the fact that she was the first one to figure out Eirwin was an ice dragon. That most likely meant that she shouldn't get her hopes up about the job.

"If I may be honest, I'm actually more concerned to hear that you have rejected so many candidates prior to me coming here to speak with you." Heather replied, her enthusiasm from before slightly dampened after hearing this. Eirwin was quiet for a moment after she said this.

"That's because this is a very particular job that I'm looking to hire someone for. They need the right personality and qualifications in order for me to consider them." Eirwin explained.

"Unlike other jobs, this one doesn't come with a rubric with qualifications and skills I'm looking for people to meet in order to give them the job. The only thing they need is to have the right personality to be able to work with me, willing to learn, and know what they are doing." He continued as Heather listened intently to what he said.

"How exactly though do you assess that?" She asked hoping to understand what that looked like so she might be able to show this majestic creature why she would be a good fit to work with him.

Part of her reasoning for this came from the fact that she really did need money, she couldn't afford to get rejected again if she wanted to stay in her current home. The other reason came from pure selfishness of wanting the chance to get to know more about one of the rarest dragons in the world from a more intimate up close and personal position. Chances like this only happened once in every million years after all.

"I observe you to get a feel for the type of person you are. As a dragon it isn't all that hard to be able to read people and know what they're like regardless of what kind of persona they put on." Eirwin replied.

"Right now, I would say that you're not doing too badly. Compared to most you seem to be much sharper and more aware of things that others aren't, that's a good quality to have which can help pick up on problems or issues that others might not notice."

"Does that mean I might have a chance at getting this job?" Heather asked not wanting to get her hopes up too much as she kept the fact that hundreds before her had failed. Even if she did have a better set of skills than others, that didn't meant she was automatically guaranteed to get the job.

"Perhaps." He replied as he tilted his head slightly.

"I would need to take more time to observe you and see what other interesting things there might be about you before I decide. I won't deny that I do get rathe annoyed that I'm not the one choosing potential candidates thus I do get rather sick of being disappointed."

"I don't think that you would be disappointed if you let me work with you. I'm good at picking up a lot of smaller things that other people don't notice and I don't need a lot of direction either one I know what I'm supposed to do." Heather replied, she wanted to highlight the positives that would come from working with her without seeming like she was trying too hard to sell herself.

"Plus, I'm sure it would be easier to work with someone who understands your a dragon and that there's certain things that need to be taken into consideration in order to keep that part of your identity hidden." She did have a good point with, though most of his business partners were aware that he was a dragon, though there was one part that he preferred to keep away from others. Would it be worth taking a risk on this woman though if she found out his secret? He couldn't tell yet if she was someone good with keeping secrets or not.
