The Boss Room

Althea and Rhald reached the boss room or what was left of it. Half the walls were gone. The dome ceiling has partly collapsed. Vane's fight with the hulking imp general wore on so long that they decimated wall upon wall and ended up in the open space of the boss room. Meanwhile, Lest was fighting another imp general in a nearby corridor.

Althea noticed that the imp mages were in a trance continuously healing the generals which explained why they were so hard to defeat. She and Rhald tried breaking their defense but the imp mages had erected a near S rank barrier spell to protect themselves. This was the moment Althea has been waiting for. She conjured a row of five magic circles each corresponding to the color of their element. It took her time, but Rhald kept the knights at bay from getting too close to her.

Althea then draws her bow and casts a single giant Light arrow. As she released bow, the arrow shot through the first magic circle turning red. This signifies that the arrow now has Fire element properties. Then the arrow passes through the green magic circle of Earth, the blue magic circle of Water, the Orange magic circle of Wind, and lastly, the white magic circle of Light. The giant arrow gains one more color as it enters through each magic circle. By the time the arrow has passed through all the magic circles, it is now an iridescent rainbow-colored projectile. It hit the mages' forcefield and cracks starts forming.

Finally, the arrow pierces through causing both the shield and the spell that made it to shatter. When spells break this violently and forcefully, it creates a magical feedback that causes broken magic to run amok and target its own spell caster. Thus, the magic from the broken shield spell retraced its origin and released its left over power. Violent magic coursed through imp mages' bodies in a display of purple lightning electrocuting them.

Rhald takes this opportunity to attack the remaining mages but Althea tells him to defeat the Imp Lord instead. She could tell that Rhald was the only one strong enough to fight the Imp Lord and win. She had to keep the remaining mages engaged but casting a 5-element spell, though impressive, is significantly challenging for a mere B rank. It drained her of much of her mana. She dug deep and casted her Light recovery spell. For 1minute, the spell gave her back 25 percent of the mana and health she had lost. This allowed her to use Thunder clap, which blew the eardrums of the imp mages.

Pushing through, she runs after the mages as they stumbled around. These were elite mages that also knew how to fight. Althea's Light daggers were foiled by their counter attacks and battle formation. She changed tactic by picking the mages off one at a time. She knew this required time which she didn't have. So, she resorted to high level spells that separated and disrupted their formations.

By using Earth chasm, she was able to disperse a section of floor which that a mage stepped into it. He fell into the floor below and laid unconscious. A female mage who got distracted received the next spell straight in the gut. A hole appeared in the place where her stomach used to be and crumpled down.

Two more mages left. The imp mage in red robes casted a quick-fire spell: Fire arrow. It grazed Althea in the leg. She limped forward while casting a minor Healing spell. The other mage wearing an ornate mage hat began her assault. Althea Manifests her Light shield and deflects the attack. Using Explosion, she blows up the shoulder of the hat wearing mage. Blood was now dripping heavily from the wound. Then, from behind them, four Light chains skewer the two bloodied imp mages. They gurgle blood as they sputter their last gasping breaths.

With only seconds left, Althea casts another Healing spell towards Rhald who was fighting the Imp Lord the whole time.

She collapses right next to the dead mages as the duration of the Light recovery spell runs out and she found herself depleted of both mana and health.

Without the mages Healing and buffing their enemies, the twins win their battles shortly after that. The group has already taken much damage.
