JOB HUNTING

"I'm sorry, we're not hiring" the manager said as he walked away. "Thank you" i replied politely as I could even though i was sure he wasn't listening. That was the sixth time I had heard that annoying sentence. There was no need for me to look for a job. My family is well-to-do and I don't need to save up for college or anything but ever since I was fifteen, every summer i would work some job at the beach and get some amount of money. This summer I was at rehab and couldn't do that. I feel angry thinking about all the money that that was wasted or just didn't go into my purse. Yup, i love cash, but i wasn't a gold digger or anything like that. I am an independent woman capable of earning my own money. So, I decided to earn double the money back by working during the school year. I had already read the whole syllabus and didn't even need to go to class anymore so I might as well use all the time I'll use to time I would have used to study to make money. I would have just worked at the beach but summer is over. No job in the beach is lucrative this time of the year. Randy and Violet came along but didn't do much. They just looked followed me about and laughed at me anytime I got rejected.

"Just one more try and that would be it for the day" I said with determination. "You did that the last two times. I'm bored" Violet nagged. "I didn't ask you to tag along" I replied. "Yes, you did you were like please Violet come with me, I'm too shy to go on my own" Violet said while trying to imitate my voice. "First of all, I do not talk like that at all. And I asked Randy to come not you. Why are you here anyways?" I said. " 'Cause I'm your best friend. And friends are there through every high and low, through every storm and every struggle. And this is beginning of something new and I have to be there for you. And most importantly, I was bored" she said happily. "Gee, thanks" I said with a bored expression on her face. "We are here, at our last stop. And after this, don't forget I want ice cream" Randy said. "So if I didn't offer you ice cream you wouldn't come ?" I asked. "Do I really need to answer that?" Randy said with a raised eyebrow. "No, you don't I just go in and ask if they have any vacancy" I answered and got down from the car. This was a coffee shop and a bakery. I walked in with confidence and asked to meet the manager.

I came out of the coffee shop with a sad look on my face and now I'm was in an ice cream parlor and pastry shop. Turns out the coffee shop did have a vacancy. They wanted someone to work on a morning shift, everyday from 7am till 4pm.

I felt so bad. Anyways the coffee shop was a little bit far from home. I would have to walk all the way there by my self "Ails, Andy, Letty! What's up? Why are you looking so sad? Did you kill Andrew's goldfish again? Someone said we turned back and looked it was Walter. He and his wife were the owners of the ice cream parlor and pastry shop. They called it 'Janer's ice cream parlor and pastry shop', which was a horrible name according to me. " I didn't kill the goldfish. I took the bowl out to get some fresh sir because I felt Timmy was tired of staying indoors and then it tripped and feel and I went to get another bowl and by the the I came it had died. I replaced it anyway. Andrew didn't suspect a thing and doesn't still know till this day" I said feeling proud of myself. "So you killed the fish" Randy said with a raised eyebrow. I groaned and said "today has been a horrible day don't remind me of other horrible days". " Why? What happened?" Walter said as he took a chair and sat down. "Well, Aileen's looking for a job. And anywhere she goes they either have no vacancy or don't have the right time" Violet said. "He didn't ask you" Randy said and Violet rolled her eyes. "What if I tell you I can make your day better?" Walter said smirking. "What are you saying?" I said surprised. "I'm saying that I have a job offer for you. We need help here. There's no time boundary. Anytime you're free just come over. Janet has been feeling stressed since Juliet left and I think we need someone to help and your just right for the job", Walter said happily talking about his wife Janet and his daughter Juliet. Frankly, i was confused and said " if you need help why didn't you hire one? Why are you asking me?".He replied with a sad look on his face "Janet has trust issues. And is definitely not going to work with someone she doesn't trust. And she trusts you a lot. And I'll pay you fifteen dollars per hour". " Twenty", I argued. "Deal", he said with a smile on his face. " She gets a job, you get an employee, what do we get?" Violet said feigning anger. Walter answered and walked away "Nothing. And Aileen work starts on Monday". " I be here. Let's go guys." I said, then dropped then dropped some cash on the table and walked away happily. I had finally gotten a job.
