Chapter 13

King's entire face was still wormed with bulging reddish veins and his eyes were still red making him look quite menacing and yet, deep down he was as tranquil as still lake. Everything he had felt from the point he saw Ever since he saw Vin battle the pack, he felt something in him change.

He felt evolve, somehow. It was understandable. Seeing how changed Vin had become, deep within him, King felt he was being left behind. Why should Vin be the only one to evolve? As such he willed himself to evolve as well. That is why even at this moment as the intense feeling of rage had taken over, he had not let it blind him. His current rage feels much more under control, like a power he can easily tap into.

As such even with his current menacing look, King was very much terrifyingly in control. "Dark eyes, Brute, well done. Pick him up.". His voice deep and cold as he ordered his guards. He began to exude a menacing aura, yet it had a kind of regal feel to it. The moment he spoke, both guards felt a chill down their spines. It was a feeling they had never felt ever since they decided to serve King.

'Dark-eyes' turned to hide his face as he gritted his teeth. The sudden turn of events was completely out of expectations. Complying with the order they lifted Vin up, each holding his arms firmly on either side. Vin chuckled weakly, looking to his sides at both of king's guards.

King walked slowly towards his captive as the wormed veins on his face began to recede slow. His eerie red eyes slowly faded as his dim yellow eyes looked down at Vin. The look in his eyes, compared to earlier had changed drastically; Looking at Vin as nothing more than an insect he can squash underneath his foot an anytime he wished.

Maybe earlier as he watched him take on the wolves, a small part of him would have liked for Vin to swear his loyalty. To have someone like Vin by his side would have made climbing up in power much smoother, however now, that was no longer necessary to him.

"You find something amusing?" King asked as he continued to look down at Vin. The chuckle earlier had not escaped him. Driving his axe into the ground to the side, King held Vin by the face, forcibly lifting him up to his level. Being held up by the face did not stop Vin from chuckling weakly once again.

Under normal circumstances that should have angered King, and yet, he was very calm at the moment. He tilted his head to the side with a smile on his face as he let go of Vin.

Falling back on the ground began laughing as he looked towards the slimer goblin, "'Dark-eyes'? hahaha!" The more he thought about it the more he laughed, holding his stomach as he threw coughing fits. "I did not think there would be a name dumber than 'King', but here it is." Vin laughed as he dragged himself to stand back up.

Dark-eyes who was standing by the side was gritting his teeth so hard you could hear the grinding by the side. His entire body was shaking with rage, or was it from embarrassment?

Oh, if looks could kill.

Standing by the side King smirked, looking at the antics of Vin. Tilting his head slightly he spoke, "This king bestowed upon him his name. Do you think the name does not suit you?", he turned to look at Dark-eyes as he directed the question to his guard who by now was beginning to turn a lighter shade. When he heard King addressing him, he forcibly tried to calm himself down.

With gritted teeth he replied, "Not at all. It was given by my King." Without breaking his glare from Vin who continued to laugh while repeating the name Dark-eyes.

"Earlier, what did you call me?" Bringing his attention back to Vin, King questioned the fool that just kept laughing. It was not as if he had not heard what he had been called when he missed the opportunity to decapitate Vin earlier. He had merely brushed it aside.

It's just that the fool's constant ridicule had brought his attention back to it. Under normal circumstance, he felt he should just decapitate him and be done with it. However, this was not the first time he had heard the fool ridicule him concerning his name.

'Why? How come it was so easy to accept his name, to accept him, when he declared his name the first time?' King thought to himself as he looked at Vin.

"What's my name?" King inquired one more time as his dim yellow eyes began to glow.

Vim smiled without a care in the world and answered with a wide provocative grin, "Slashface!"

The temperature in the place suddenly dropped as the bright yellow glow in King's eyes suddenly turned bright red. "*Sigh*Now why would you go and say something like that?"

*Bang* Vin flew back a few meters landing on the ground and threw up a mouthful of blood. King began to walk slowly towards Vin all the while shaking his head. "What's my name?" King asked once more as he got closer to Vin.

Vin stubbornly picked himself up once more. He spat out some blood and looked at King. His provocative grin returning to his face like default. "Slashface."

With a sigh, he walked up to Vin and punched him twice in the face in quick succession, driving Vin back to the ground. Squatting down to Vin's level, he stared down at him with his glowing red eyes. "All you have to do is say my real name, and I'll end this quickly" King spoke as he lifted Vin, his voice much colder than before, as he once again bringing him closer to his face.

"Slas—" Before he had the chance to complete his words king drove his fist through his stomach.

"All you had to do was say my name." Driving his fist again into Vin's stomach, he spoke as his voice turned even colder as he continued, "But no, you just have to be you. You just have to be Vin, don't you?"

The more king spoke, the more punches he drove into his stomach. Standing a distance away, Dark-eyes was thoroughly enjoying the torture Vin was being put through. The extremely smile on his face threatening to tear his face in half.

King brought Vin closer once more to his face, examining him properly. Vin looked terrible. He definitely had more than a few broken bones. The clamp on his neck forcibly prevented the blood from being spat out, choking him in the process with trickles of his blood flowing almost constantly from his orifices.

King shook his head. His bright glowing red eyes diming down to a dull red color. King threw Vin to the ground as he threw fits of cough trying hard to catch his breath. King walked back to his axe and was about to pull it out when he saw a broken spear in the corner. Vin's spear.

He walked over to the spear and pulled it out. Such a light weapon. If he squeezed, he could easily destroy it completely.

Pathetic.

King then walked to the corpse of the white wolf and dug out the smaller broken spear. Looking at it he felt even more disgusted.

"What trash of a weapon, and yet you seem to prefer this weapon so much?" King walked back slowly to Vin as he looked down at him. He finally seemed to somewhat be able to catch his breath. Vin forced himself with much difficulty on one knee as he lifted his head up at king who stood above him.

King looked down at him. There was nothing more to say. He lifted both spears high up and drove it downwards intending to impale Vin in his neck.

The moment he was waiting for. The listless eyes of Vin suddenly snapped open.
