"But playtime's over, pup." He sneered.』
I shifted in my bed, scrolling to the next page, or slide - in this context - immediately. 『The tip of his thumb and index finger created a perfect ring, while the other three fingers stood tall, like a crown. He placed the circle directly in front of his eye, the open space framing his golden iris like a lens.Through the small, rounded window, his eyes shone with an otherworldly glow.
The light caught the edges of his fingers, casting a soft shadow.』
"Hmm." I hummed out loud, pushing the alarm pup-up I had set to remind myself to not get too engrossed in whatever I was doing. 『"Technique Deployment."The Lord – Jayden Cromwell – mumbled with a victorious grin as Arthur frowned.
"Requiem of Eternal Rest."
Jayden chanted his Technique Deployment's name as everything turned white.
Was it a checkmate?』
I scrolled and scrolled, but the next chapter didn't load. Hmm. Is this what people refer to as a cliffhanger, huh? It is a good way to stimulate interest into a story. I placed the phone down, and looked at the familiar roof of my dorm. Tomorrow...it would be my last day here. The 3 years of respite were finally over. And despite being disappointed in the final confrontation, I can say it was still a worthy stay. The competition I had fostered for my own entertainment proved to be not entirely...inadequate. Most of all, I had enjoyed it. The push over my own cusp of capabilities was absent, but I enjoyed it regardless. Currently I was reading a story named 'Bleak Midwinter' from an app called Web-novel. It was a decent story, and the character - somewhat - reminded me of myself. Minus the odd paranoia. However; given the context it was quite understandable. I picked my phone and looked at the author's name. Reprobate. For some odd reason, it sounds very familiar. Like I have been around it a lot, but not at the same time. A paradox, for the lack of better words. I slipped my head back into the pillow. My mind kept shifting from the story where 'Arthur' is stuck in a rather unfavourable situation, to the mildly unpalatable reality of me graduating from Class A. It would be hypocritical of me to say I was disappointed, since I just said I had fun. But still, not getting what you had expected leaves a rather gaping hole in the pump situated in one's chest - heart. A rather dizzy sensation overlapped me. Like a haze settling in front of my eyes. What...I had only be reading for...6 hours! I don't understand how this might result in such a scenario, but instead of panicking, I laid straight and placed my arm over my eyes. Letting my body relax, I lazed my eyes. However, the discomfort shifted from my eyes to my whole body. I couldn't understand. The smell of food in all four corners of the room - left by the fellow Class A members - did less to alleviate the discomfort. Was I having a stroke? A heart attack? Panic attack? My physical health and current feedback is too normal to consider these attacks as a possibility. As I started writhing, I felt my phone chime. An email. I felt my eyes widen ever so slightly. ------------------------------From: Reprobate___Subject: Greetings.
Hello. Reprobate here. I am sure you are confused as to why, or even how am I contacting you. However; as the sole reader of my story, I wanted to confide in about something. Or rather, cause more trouble than good, haha!------------------------------
Sole reader? It's a good read though...hmm, that doesn't matter. What does he mean by trouble?------------------------------I am grateful to you for reading my story so far, and I would've loved if you continued reading. I appreciate the little thumbs-up emojis and minor grammatical corrections you provide, but it's time. Please repeat this.------------------------------
I was baffled. What does he mean? Repeat? Does he want me to say this...thing, out loud? My heart was palpitating. I am not sure why, but it feels like it wants me to say this.------------------------------The Immortal Lord of Heaven and Earth for Blessings.------------------------------I felt my body on auto-pilot. The world was spinning, or maybe I was walking counter-clockwise. Odd. Very odd. I felt my body yield. Is this what powerlessness mentioned by authors feel like?------------------------------The Sky Lord of Heaven and Earth for BlessingsThe Exalted Thearch of Heaven and Earth for Blessings
