Enrollment Day

Layn finds himself a seat in between many students. He found himself to be the only one without any friends, while others around him were talking to each other. Layn was just sitting there dumbly, waiting for the announcements to start.

"Alright everyone. I am the student council vice president, Aliana Agares."

A girl steps forward out of the 4 students standing there. She had black straight smooth hair, light red eyes which meant she was a pure blood, and wore normal spectacles that were not fancy in the slightest. Though it should be noted that most of the students in this High school were pure bloods. Very few were half blooded like Layn.

"First of all, I would like to congratulate you all for being able to enroll in this prestigious place, The Thievens Sins Highschool."

Students applause started to echo throughout the auditorium. Even Layn was joyfully clapping with others as he was anticipating something big and interesting to be conveyed.

"Sadly, tonight our president won't be able to accompany us on this beloved day. But that does not mean we won't continue our ceremony."

"ceremony?"

"what? Nobody told us about this?"

"a surprise?"

The auditorium started to fill with confusion and whispers. Layn was not that surprised, as he himself didn't knew what was supposed to happen here. But by judging the reactions of other students, this was not anticipated. He too thought that they were called in here to be selected into houses.

Aliana, the vice-president of the student council, smirked. Her slight smile could indicate something vicious behind it. Layn noticed this, and he got a feeling that something was off about this whole place. He started to be more cautious around his surrounding, and it seemed like he was the only one who noticed the vice president, as if, the smile was directed at him?

"please maintain silence, I have not yet completed my statement. So how about we begin, our sacrifice?"

"..."

"In order to attain a house, you all will undergo a test. You will have to show us your true nature and power, so we, the student council, and the teachers could approve the right ones."

The whispers started to get louder and louder, and soon questions were raised. Every student was in shock and did not contemplate if this was a joke or the real deal. Layn was on his feet, his eyes are wide open staring towards the vice-president on the stage. The other three students behind her were grinning and were standing motionless with their hands behind.

"what is the meaning of this!"

"we were never told of this!"

"is this some kind of a joke!?"

Many questions were raised and the voices started to get louder. Aliana had a smile on her face, and continued

"since there are 7 houses, all based on the sins, we cannot just throw any student to any house you see? So, we have decided to hold a test for our dear students."

"What kind of test!"

A student asked that question with a loud voice and others agreed with his question too. Layn didn't say anything. He was just dumbly watching everything, but he knew something was off. Layn slowly tried to swift away from the crowd, into an open place within the auditorium, while listening to Aliana

"The test is really simple. All you need to do is prepare a sacrifice and bring it back to this auditorium. Without a single sacrifice from the students, I am afraid we will not know which house you should be put into."

"What kind of sacrifice is this?!"

Once again the same student shouted while others agreed with him. Then Aliana's smile widens-

"A student's sacrifice."

"w... what?!"

"No way!"

"this is a joke!"

Layn was backing slowly and upon hearing these words, his back hit on something behind. It was-

"Layn lets get out of here right now"

"A... Anna?! What are you doing here?!"

After that the crowd of students denied this and said they are leaving the school, but then Aliana remarked-

"you cannot leave this school now. If you can't get a sacrifice, you will be used as the sacrifice. If you will try to escape, you will be sacrificed."

Everyone started to panic, looking at each other and not knowing what to do. One of the student shouts-

"this is bullshit! I am leaving."

The whole auditorium was in silence after hearing the student. Aliana smirks, while looking at that student walking towards the exit of auditorium. Layn was just in front of the exit, while Anna was behind Layn... and then-

"is this... bl... blood?"

Layn's shirt and face was stained in blood. The student who was trying to leave was on the ground, without his head. The whole floor was spilled with blood. Layn was in shock. The auditorium was awkwardly silent. And then after a few seconds-

"be sure to bring your sacrifices before noon. Alright then, see you all later"

Layn was pulled by Anna from behind and she took him out of the auditorium. He could hear the students inside shouting in terror, voices of students pleading for mercy. While Layn was being pulled away by Anna, he saw blood flowing from under the door, with the noises of students fighting.

After a while, Layn realized what just happened and-

"what the hell was that."

In a normal tone, Layn asks Anna this question. Anna was surprised that Layn was not panicking as much as she had expected.

"this, is the enrollment day."
