One Step Forward, Two Steps Back..

Stella:

"Zach, do you have any idea about the prophecy?"

"Stel we are here on some other business if you want to know about prophecies please call Ashton he will get the details from the library archives"

He was clearly irritated by my question but there was something in his mind as well.

"What's bothering you?"

"Tells get to my room we will discuss there",he said as we walked towards his room

"You noticed Mark flinch at the question right?"

"Yes and Javour said that even Rosa's look changed"

Javour nodded and continued, "Alpha over the years I have trained and taught many wolves and can clearly ready their expressions, especially the ones that are new like Rosa and Rhea and their expressions clearly stated they weren't pleased by the question. Even I felt Mark was uncomfortable by the question and there was a worried look on the luna's face. That's when the old alpha took up to answer the question and he being more experienced did a good job in hiding his expressions as well"

"Then its clear they are hiding something. I don't know if that's related to Amber or not but whatever it is we need to get to it. I will put someone for pack investigation once we leave. We don't have much time, our pack needs more training so Nic and you need to leave once we reach Iwar. The business is surely not for Nic, he is a disaster, I am rather impressed by Amber anyways I need to get back there and Javour you need to find all you get from the archives once your back. Do I make myself clear", said Mr. Alpha

"Yes alpha good night", I replied in a tired voice

"Good night alpha" Javour followed the suit and we both left for our rooms.

Zach:

The next and the last day at the White moon pack was rather quick.

While Javour and I trained with their worriers Stella conversed with the pack members. They were not a very open and friendly pack given to the circumstance they lived in. The white moon was a rather small pack with a lot of ancient history and secrets.

Though their alpha Mark and luna seemed pretty friendly and so goes with their beta, gamma, and their mates. It might be because of the change in a generation.The pack worriers were well trained and even the kids received training along with night schooling about werewolf history and their own.This made me proud of the white wolf pack they maintained the heritage. I planned in incorporating this into all the packs very soon.

The journey way back was rather silent each of us was tired from the trip.

The next day I reached office before any other employee to catch up on the work that was left I knew Nic wasn't comfortable when it comes to business but I didn't was to bother him as he had already been forced to not only managed the business but also be away from Stella.

Ashton informed me he would be back today so Nic will be going to Riverham to look over the pack along with Stella and soon Javour would be back on his way as well.

But as soon as I exited the elevator I was hit by the intoxicating smell of my mate but what was she doing here so early in the morning.

"Mate mate mate", Ray kept on chanting in my head

"But why is she here at 6 in the morning"

"Maybe she is trying to manage all the burden you have put on her. I pity my little mate" Ray said in a rather angry tone.

I knocked at her cabin's door,

No answer.I knocked again and it went unanswered

What if something happened to her?

Is she fine?

Did I put too much pressure on her?

Did someone force her to stay here?

All bad thoughts came running to my mind and with a lot of courage I turned her doorknob.I would her head on the table and her eyelids closed. She was fast asleep.

"Amber amber?"I shook her slightly

Amber:

"Amber amber?"

A soft voice came into my ears and then a warm touch

But my neck it pained as if every nerve in it was being pulled.Suddenly my eyelids opened and stretched my arms and found Zach standing in front of me.

"Shit", I muttered under my breath as I became aware of my surroundings.I remember I was trying to fit in some meeting and look for online courses and I brought my coffee but then I slept in the office itself.

Zach:

"Umm hey," she said innocently waving at me

"Hey, may I know what are you doing so early in the morning?"I said with a brow lifted

"Actually I was looking through the schedules like I.. I didn't know you will be back today and Nic you know he is .. umm maybe not comfortable yes comfortable is the word So as I was saying Nic isn't comfortable enough to sit through continuous meetings a day so I was adjusting the schedules and I think my eyes shut eventually and I slept here."

"You shouldn't be staying at the office so late. How would you have gone back ?"

"I would have walked," she said carelessly

"Amber it's not safe and why don't you get a car for god's sake?",I almost screamed at her and I could see the frustration in her eyes

"You see Mr. first you don't need to care about my safety I'm big enough to think about that and second you make sudden plans and vanish all in one day and come back the other day without even informing me and expect me to arrange your schedules. Oh let's just remind you one thing I don't have a college degree and therefore all I have learned and I'm doing is through experience but since you plan to put extra pressure on me I can't even get close to doing an online course to get a degree. And to add to it a car right well you may say I am not privileged enough and even if I did get one what do you think everyone has four people walking around them with files and laptops well I don't even own one. So I need to finish all the shit you spread sitting here in this cabin and even at the same time look for the course I can do sitting here itself. I may be privileged enough to have a brother like Zander but I am not a liability I don't want to be a burden on him..."

She finished her eyes were teary.I felt bad to put her through all this

"Amber I think you stressed yourself a lot," I said calmly

"Yes I did because of you" a sole tear escaped her eyes

"Hey hey don't cry. You have a degree or not don't matter your great at your job and I don't think anyone could do this better than you. And I am sorry I didn't inform you about my visits I should have that was careless of me. Please forgive me"

"Your forgiven, and I am sorry for scoping it all out on you," She said with a pout on her face

"That's ok. You look cute when your angry", she blushed at my comment

"And now I expect you to go back and take a day off rest. Ok?"

She nodded and was getting ready to leave.

"Amber"

"Yes"

"Umm you mind if I come and check on you in the evening"

"That's not necessary trust me I am fine"

"Please," I asked

"Umm ok"

"So don't cook. Pizza for dinner and we will also discuss about the course you wish to do ok?"

"Well pizza is fine and you need not worry about the course I have saved enough to complete a course"

"Then keep your savings for something else ma'am. I will be sponsoring your education as your CEO you need not worry about it"

"Are you sure? Like it might be a burden on you"

"It isn't, trust me. If you wish to study you will and in the best place. Now leave else I will be forced to cut off a part of your salary for disobeying me"

"Jerk" she muttered under her breath

"Well, then bye-bye.I will meet you later and your schedule for the day is on my computer and there is a file summing up the happenings while you were on your merry trip" she said sarcastically

"I told you no-one does the job better than you," I said smiling like an idiot as she left

She surely messes my mind up but at the same time I appreciate her skills. She has learned so much just by observing people and I wonder how much more she will flourish. She is indeed a true queen.
