Beast?

Chapter 2:

After the woman that Kai didn't even know her name had done something that was impossible Kai was at a loss of words.

"Who, who are you?" the young adult asked.

"Cap. Nika Glacies" she said not turning back.

"Captain? as in a military captain? Why does the military have me in custody?" Kai had a lot of questions in his mind, but now was not the time to ask them as the beast was still moving.

The lion-like beast roared at his attacker and charged towards her. Nika made two more ice spears that were levitating next to her shoulders, just looking at them Kai could feel the negative temperature emitting from them.

The captain threw her hand forwards, launching the two spears at the same time going for the wings of the beast. The lion-like beast tucked its wings and jumped forward doing a spiral, to avoid the spears in a quite impressive way.

Seeing this Nika closed her right hand and put the other hand on top. She then separated her hand and while they were separating an ice blade was being created at the same time. The sword made for ice had a darker color as if it was made of black ice.

"This is crazy," Kai said looking at the scene in front of him. Nike charged at the beast to finish it off quickly but the beast was very smart and difficult to deal with, while this was happening Kai saw the message again.

[Quest: Defeat your first beast]

-Reward: ???

"What is this thing?" Kai asked.

"It was in your memories that you like something you call videogames and I thought It would be good for you to inherit my power like this, but it seems you're still not strong enough to keep talking to me. I wish you luck Kai" The voice faded while talking to Kai and now Kai's head was completely silent, only his thoughts could be heard.

"Hey! Voice!" Kai tried calling the voice but it was no longer there.

"He said I wasn't strong enough to even talk to him. Even after everything I had been through, I'm not strong? Then let's prove this bastard wrong"

Kai's attitude completely changed, but his little moment got interrupted by another roar from the beast but it wasn't the one Nika was fighting.

Another lion-like beast had entered the ship and was now standing in front of Kai. It roared at him, making him aware that it wasn't friendly. A notification-like sound went off in his head.

*Ding*

(Double or Nothing)- Kill both beasts and get double the reward.

Tic Toc: Get a move one, one of the beats is almost dead!

Kai looked at this and a smile appeared on his face.

"If I have learned anything from life and video games, double is always better," Kai said, picking up a metal pipe that broke off the wall.

"Come at me kitty!" Kai yelled at the beast with a smile on his face.

Nika looked back and saw the young adult about to face the beast, fear filled her eyes as she tried to go to him but the beats she was facing attacked her but failed as she barely blocked the attack.

"You're going to have to hang on your own for a bit Kai" Nika muttered to herself.

Kai was facing the new lion like beast and had the metal pipe held with his two hands. The notification sound went off again.

[Lion-Like Beast Detected] (Grade: Medium)

"Medium Grade? Does the grade mean how difficult or strong the beast is? Or does it mean it's rarer to find?" Kai had this question and he was about to find his answer.

This beast was larger physically and the bones that were sticking out were thicker and rougher on the edges.

Ace had a lot of experience fighting, and his body was proof he had a well-built body and was 6-foot-high but his only experience was street fighting, nothing martial arts related. This made the broken metal pipe a good weapon he was already used to.

"Ok let's do this" He said, running towards the beast.

He shifted his body and swung the pipe left, hitting the beast on its head. The head of the winged lion moved left with the pipe but it didn't seem to affect it much.

The beast turned its head and clawed at the black haired boy, but he managed to step back only allowing a surface wound to be on his arm. Kai took the opening created by the attack and tried to stab the beast with the pointy part of the broken pipe, the pipe entered the body of the beast but Kai couldn't remove it as the muscle on the lion tensed up.

"The bastard has a lot of strength" He said abandoning the pipe and rolled away from another attack. Seeing how that failed he tried a different approach, he ran to the side of the hall and the beast followed until they reached a corner.

Kai looked at the beast who was closing in, "Come on take the bait" The boy said in his head.

The beast jumped attempting to attack him, but in the last second he slid under the beast then kicked up as hard as he could, making the lion hit the wall cracking it in the process.

He quickly charged at the beast and grabbed the pipe he was using before and ripped it out of its body. The winged lion roared in pain and turned his gaze toward the one that had caused it, but then it roared again as Kai stabbed the blade on its wing.

It seemed to be the weaker part of the body, after that the beast stood up. Blood was dripping in the floor from the beast, Kai ripped another pipe from the hall of the ship and was ready for round three.

The beast pounced on him to quickly pinned him to the ground, digging its claws in his chest "Argh, you bastard!"

With his left arm he picked up the pipe and stabbed it in the neck of the beast, again and again until the beast was dead.
