Calamity

Chapter 1

In the middle of the night there was a group of six people, watching the dark sky and bright stars, hearing the waves crashing against the land, a very relaxing setting to be in. It would be perfect if it wasn't for the smell of blood coming from one of the six bodies. In the sand slightly beneath the others was a body of a young adult coughing blood, his black hair reaching to his shoulder, it was wet and covered in sand.

"You actually wanted to kill me, after everything I have done for us" he said laughing and coughing a bit of blood. His gray eyes were losing life.

Another young adult stood up, his wild and spiky hair was black with streaks of red, his eyes were shining red while he looked down. "Akashi, you only brought death and destruction, you were one of the best friends, but your terror ends here" the black haired boy said.

"Please Kai, I only did what Rita, Sarah, Darya, Suro and even you couldn't do'' Akashi said to Kai, still struggling to speak.

"It's over Akashi, you got too cocky with that special eye of yours" Kai said, to that sound Suro and the girls stood up and were looking down on Akashi, with each of their eyes shining a different color.

-Suro's yellow

-Rita's Silver

-Sarah's green

-Darya's blue

"I must be seeing things eyes don't glow" Akashi thought.

"It's ok, I forgive you guys, you just don't understand" Akashi said with his dying breath.

In that moment the sky lit up as if it turned to day in a second. A meteor was heading straight for the island, the rest panicked and tried to make a run for it, but the meteor crashed and the heat wave consumed the group as if their skin was burning off. Kai was in a dark, empty and cold room; the only thing he could see was a single white and black flame in the middle of the dark space.

The flame started to take a large Dog-like form, with piercing red eyes, on its back fire was still running through it, this creature was about 20 feet tall and all of the sudden the coldness of the space turned into explosive heat, making Kai sweat. The creature turned his head and was now looking straight towards him, flames started to rush towards Kai like wildfire eating everything on its path.

The next moment Kai opened his eyes and found himself in a white room on top of a bed with sheets that matched the walls. All he could see was a single window in the room, that was shining light. The black haired man stood up from the bed and walked to the window. All he could see was clouds. He was asking himself where he was, "Is this a hospital tower or something?"

Hospital Towers were the peak medical facilities in the world. Being the most advanced in every aspect of medical technology, there were even rumors that Astro Tower, which was the best among the five medical towers in the world, had discovered the cure to malignant tumors, in other words cancer. Yet it seems they were either fake rumors or they were hiding it to monopolize it.

While he was looking out the window he soon realized he wasn't in a tower he wouldn't be lucky enough.

"I'm in the air? An airship, I thought these things ceased to exist in the great war" He said.

The great war was a battle between all the continents of Denus, the continents fought among themselves for 3 consecutive years. All continents exhausted their nuclear weapons, almost destroying the world and forcing the citizens that couldn't fight into bunkers. Until a meeting between all the leaders of the world was called, to put a stop to the war and fabrications of nuclear weapons, to prevent harming the planet further.

After one year of cleaning up the mess of the war the citizens were able to return to the surface and began to rebuild everything destroyed in the war. Except for certain things the people thought useless and airships were one of them.

That's why he was wondering who owned this and why they built one. He turned as he heard a door opening behind him, a woman had entered with what looked to be two soldiers with guns on them. Guns were also rare now a day since the ruling faction of the world were trying to reduce every year weapons like firearms, only some factions had permission to using them one of them the military.

"Hello mister Hellbound, no need to get worked up you can relax" the women said to the young man signaling he should seat down.

"So you're 20 years old, correct?" she asked.

"Um, no, I'm 18 years old" he said. Everyone 18-year-olds were complete adults in Denus. "Interesting, do you remember what happened?" she asked another question.

Memories came flooding his mind all at once, it was too much information to process. Kai was grabbing his head since it was hurting, the next second he could hear a rough and strong voice whispering, "Kai" he then turned to the woman who was leaving the room.

"Wait! My friends!" This comment made the women stop.

She turned around and was about to say something when a big bang was heard, alarms were going off.

"All units to the east wing, beast has been detected, I repeated beast has been detected" A megaphone was used to transmit the message.

"Kai, you need to come with me now!" the woman said, grabbing his arm, almost dragging him.

"What is going on? What does it mean beast?" Kai kept asking questions.

"There's no time to answer" she said, still walking but that was interrupted when something crashed through the wall. The halls were quite big therefore what came through the wall could move freely in them.

The women and Kai were looking at the thing that crashed, it was covered in red and black feathers. Its body was like that of a lion but the size was almost double of a normal one. From his body bones could be seen sticking out giving the beast a terrifying look.

A red transparent thin rectangle appeared in front of him.

"What is this? A status window? Like a game" he said in his head.

He could hear a deep laugh in his head. "Is this your doing?" Kai asked the voice.

"Yes, it's more entertaining this way, plus it will help you" the voice said.

The beast locked eyes with Kai and was about to pounce on him but he was pushed to the side by the women and he saw a spear of ice materialize in front of her and shot out hitting the beast.
