Interview 2

Ding!

The lift has reached the second floor, and Lily promptly exits, making her way to the interview room.

'2.1, 2.2, 2.3... Aha! 2.4, there you are,' she thinks with joy as she quickly found her interview room.

Standing in front of room 2.4, Lily suddenly feels extremely nervous.

"Take a deep breath... exhale. You can do this, Lily," she reassures herself, trying to calm her nerves.

Knock, knock.

Lily knocks on the door, waiting for a response from within.

"Please come in!" a voice calls from inside the room.

Creak.

"Hello," Lily greets.

The interview room turns out to be smaller than Lily anticipated. There's a small chair in the middle of the room, and only one person to interview her.

"Please, have a seat," Tres says, motioning for Lily to sit.

The interviewer for Lily's session is Mr. Tres, a man clad entirely in white, even his hair resembling snow.

'Wow, this guy looks like a snowman,' Lily thinks.

Before sitting, Lily hands over her documents and then takes a seat in the available chair.

Tres checks Lily's documents. "Well, Miss Lily? Could you introduce yourself first?" Tres asks.

Lily adjusts her posture, taking a deep breath. "My name is Lily, an orphan. I was raised in an orphanage since childhood. I began living independently at the age of 20. I am a graduate of the University of London with a major in Legal Administration Officer," Lily says smoothly.

"Explain why you're applying for a secretary position here," Tres inquires.

Lily answers Tres's question calmly and confidently. "I am applying for the secretary position here because I am intrigued by the vision and mission of Delima Putih, a company in the health and cosmetics sector. I possess skills and experience that align with the company's criteria, such as communication, administration, organization, and computer skills."

"Next, could you tell me why you left your previous job?" Tres asks, observing Lily's response.

Lily appears composed hearing Tres's question. "I left my previous job because I felt the need to explore new opportunities for the development of my skills and experience."

Tres nods approvingly, jotting down notes. "Now, how do you evaluate yourself as a secretary? What are your strengths and weaknesses?" Tres continues.

Lily takes a moment to think before responding. "I see myself as a professional, loyal, and responsible secretary. I always strive to complete my tasks efficiently and on time, maintaining confidentiality of company-related information. My strengths include adaptability to different situations and people, initiative, creativity in problem-solving, and the ability to work under pressure. My weaknesses are being occasionally too perfectionistic and self-critical, leading to dissatisfaction with my work results. I am also not very adept at socializing and mingling with others, as I prefer working independently."

Tres seems impressed with Lily's answer. "I see you have the potential to be a reliable secretary. However, I'm curious to know how you handle conflicts and challenges that may arise in the workplace. Can you provide an example of a situation you've experienced or imagine, and how you resolved it?" Tres asks with curiosity.

Recalling past experiences, Lily begins, "One example of a situation I encountered was when I worked as a secretary in a law firm. I was responsible for scheduling meetings and hearings for the lawyers, as well as creating important reports and documents. One day, I received a task to draft a power of attorney for one of our clients, which would be used to file a lawsuit in court. I prepared the power of attorney according to the instructions and data provided by the handling attorney. However, there was an error in the client's name and address on the document, rendering it invalid. This upset the client, who threatened to terminate our cooperation. Feeling guilty and responsible for the mistake, I promptly apologized to our client and our attorney, promising to rectify the power of attorney as soon as possible. I contacted the court to request a hearing postponement, informing my supervisor of the situation. I worked diligently to correct the document and resend it to our client and attorney. I monitored the case's progress, ensuring no further issues arose. Ultimately, our client was satisfied with my efforts, choosing to continue working with our company."

Tres nods approvingly. "I admire how you handled that challenging situation. You demonstrated professionalism and ethics in your work. Your analytical, communication, and negotiation skills are commendable. I believe you are a suitable candidate to be a secretary in our company. However, I have one last question for you. What do you expect from our company, and what do you offer to our company?" Tres asks in conclusion.

Lily smiles and responds enthusiastically, "I hope to find a conducive, collaborative, and dynamic working environment at Delima Putih that supports both my career and personal development. I also expect compensation and facilities aligned with my performance and contributions. I offer Delima Putih my commitment, dedication, and loyalty in my work. Additionally, I bring skills, knowledge, and experience that can contribute to Delima Putih's goals and vision. I am ready to learn new things and face the challenges ahead. I am confident I can be a valuable asset to Delima Putih."

Tres smiles and applauds Lily. "Thank you for your exceptional answers. I enjoyed talking with you. I believe you have great potential. I will forward the results of your interview to the HR department, and they will contact you shortly to inform you whether you are accepted into our company or not. Good luck to you. Again, thank you for your time," Tres says warmly.

Lily stands and expresses her gratitude to Tres. "Thank you for the opportunity given to me. I hope to work with you in this company. Goodbye," Lily says politely.

Exiting the interview room, Lily feels relieved and happy. She believes her interview went smoothly and successfully. She hopes to be accepted into Delima Putih as she is tired of being unemployed.
