Chapter 28: Girl talk

Alicia P.O.V

I had never seen my brother so excited he was jumping around like a monkey under a banana tree he didn't stop talking about the game and this monumental experience that was for him at one point I was so annoyed that I really was thinking about leaving him here well the impulse of doing such thing flew out of my mind every time I see his goofy smile sigh what a pain he won't stop talking about this all summer long I bet he will tell this story to my future kids one day when I thought we were going to leave Ace asked us if we wanted to go to the team locker room to get autographs and talk to the player, of course, Derrick was more than happy to do so his mouth open wide enough to fit a whole boiled egg was a proof of his mental state.. or to be precise his mental breakdown I could almost see the smoke coming out of his ears I was about to follow them when my mother grabbed my arm and said to Ace that we would be both waiting in the parking lot which earned her a bewildered look from me but I didn't say anything to rebuke her

After Ace gave me a knowing look he left with Derrick to the locker room area after Ace and Derrick entered the corridor leading to the locker room as soon as we lost sight of them my mother started looking at me weirdly ... oh no I saw this look once before great I won another round of sex talk with my mother I never thought I would be having this kind conversation a second time in my life I thought before she could say something that would embarrass me in front of strangers I bolt toward the exit as fast as the jam-packed hall of basketball fans was allowing me to, of course, my mother was closely tailing me I won't be able to escape from this 'girl talk' like she called it when I was 14 and learned about my first boyfriend

She at least waited until we were waiting beside Ace's car before starting her speech since Ace's family owned the team his parking spot was close to the Center and was semi-private so the parking lot was empty from now

-Mom I know what you want to talk about and please spare me I do not want to have this talk a second time

-Humph even if you say this I will still talk about it said my Mom

-Mom please this is embarrassing I'm an adult for god sake 

-But you are still my child even when you reach 40 years old you will still be my baby girl so stop whining you won't escape our girl talk

I started massaging my temple in an attempt to suppress the headache that I was about to have and oh god that didn't help me at all my mother started by telling me how protection was important that Ace should respect me and to never force things if I wasn't ready and then she again told me about protection which made me laugh because I could see she was clearly more scared about being a grandmother than anything else 

-Stop laughing it's not funny also you should ask Ace to get tested for sexually transmitted infection (STI)

-Mom I won't ask him to do that I said rolling my eyes at her

-Why do you know that a young man as handsome as him must have an active sexual life what if he caught something without knowing better be safe than sorry 

-Mom I'm his first girlfriend and he is still a virgin so forget it I won't mention this to him 

-Humph and you believe him you are so gullible I bet he told you that you also stole his first kiss and that he had never held a girl's hand before hahaha sarcastically said, my Mother

-He didn't have to say it since I already figured it out myself

-Naive a young man his age as rich, handsome, charismatic, and smart as he is, of course, he must had his share of one-night-stands. Girl don't believe everything a man says you must always do your own research so as to reach the right conclusion

-Mom, how old do you think Ace is?

-18-19 same as you... no?

-No far from it (giggles)

-So you have even more reason to doubt what he is saying being with a man older than you isn't always...

-Mom I'll stop you right there you got it all wrong he is not older but younger than me 3 years younger to be exact I said holding back the laugh that was threatening to come out of my mouth

-... Haha, that's a good one you almost got me there hahaha...

She stopped laughing when she realized I was not joking then she stopped moving she looked like a statue and since it was finally giving me a break I didn't make a sound in case she would come out of her stupor of course the loud voice of my brother had to reach my ears just as I was finally having a little break a much needed moment of silence before my mother starts asking questions, again

-Say bro can I get season tickets next year asked my brother to Ace

-Why not... you just need to buy them Ace responded

I could imagine his proud face after his little joke to my brother the good thing was that I could also imagine the irritation my brother was feeling right now the bad thing was my mother came back to herself hearing the voices of Derrick and my boyfriend

Ace P.O.V

I wasn't planning on visiting the team locker room but when I saw Derrick still so excited after the game I thought about giving him another unforgettable experience so I took him to see the players the head coach knew who I was but the rest of the team look at me with surprise when they learned who I was and Derrick had stars in his eye maybe it wasn't a great idea to let him know that sigh well ill deal with him later let him enjoy this moment a little longer before I stop all the disillusion he is having right now

After he got the time of his life judging from the faces he made, I never thought there could be so many facial expression variations of the same emotions in his case joy when we got to my car I could see Alicia looking at me with a wry smile and her mother looking at me suspiciously I don't know what they talked about but seems like Ms. Augello didn't quite trust her daughter words on the subject

I was expecting a series of questions as soon as we got close to my car but Ms. Augello didn't let out a word it took me 5 minutes of driving before she finally said something to me maybe it was because she was searching for a way to formulate was she wanted to say or it was just because Derrick hadn't stopped talking since taking his seat

-So Ace why don't you and Alicia stay a little longer at the house tonight we could talk around a glass of wine what do you think? 

-If Alicia wants we can stay I would like for you to know me better but I am the one driving so I do not think that drinking would be I good idea well even if I wasn't the one driving I wouldn't drink because I don't drink Ms. Augello 

-And what do you like to do on weekends there are many clubs and bars here in New York but be careful at night there are all sorts of people here

-You don't have to worry Ms. Augello I won't bring Alicia to those kinds of places I prefer working on my cars or doing music on weekends but now I must add passing time with Alicia in as well oh talking about weekends Alicia next week my Uncle and my future Aunt will be coming to visit us and bring a surprise with them 

-Arrggh screw it I will never get the answer I want if this continues... Ace, how old are you?

-Hahaha so this is what it's all about I was wondering why those weird questions Alicia told you my age and you didn't believe her right? I just turned 15 on the 3rd of May

The revelation did not just shock the mother of Alicia but his brother as well, Derrick's eyes got so big I thought he was an owl for a moment which made Alicia burst out laughing until tears were at the corner of her eyes well I'm glad she's having fun with the situation

-I thought that Alicia was joking with me so it was also true when she said she was your first girlfriend and that you never kissed a girl before.

-What the fuck did you girls talk about ... wait I know omg now I'm embarrassed. Ms. Augello you don't have to worry we will be responsible but you don't have to worry about this we are not there yet in our relationship I think it is too soon and I will be waiting for her to be ready before ... you know

-Why would I be the one who isn't ready maybe it's you quipped Alicia a little offended by what I just said

-Please Babe I'm a man I was ready since the first time my little soldier got up by itself (giggles)

-Oh ewwwwww I just understand what you guys are talking about, can we not discuss this while I am here I think I will be sick if this continues intervene Derrick

This made the 3 of us laugh thanks to his intervention the awkward feeling that was starting to infiltrate the conversation dissipated like snow melting under the sun for the rest of the ride Ms. Augello continued asking questions about me and what I liked where I studied why do I like music so much what did I fell for her daughter I think that this allowed us to be a little closer than before when we drop Alicia mother and brother at their home she seemed happy with how things turned out the smile she was having on her face and the hand caressing my tight was enough proof that Alicia was in a good mood 

-When were you planning on telling me that your family will come visit us? asked Alicia

-I'm sorry love I forgot to tell you this I was planning on telling you last night before bed but we watched a movie and then you fell asleep so I'm telling you now but you don't have to stress about this my Uncle can be intimidating to strangers but he is a kind man who love his family so he will like you I'm sure but he probably already investigate you and your family even if I told him not to and Lena is probably already buying things for you as we speak she was the one who raised me her and Mammy it's sad that Mammy is too old to travel such a long distance she is probably as excited as Lena

-Omg this is so embarrassing you're telling me he knows everything about us already and who is Mammy you didn't tell me about her

-Well he must want to make sure you didn't know who I was before dating me you know a lot of people would do that for money .. don't worry I know you didn't know who my family was and even if you did that wouldn't have changed a thing for you but my Uncle sometimes is like... your mother, overprotective hahaha and Mammy is our head housemaid back at my home since we're talking about this would you be alright with a little travel with me we could take a little time before school start to visit my home I would like for you to see where I grew up and meet Mammy and the peoples I love, no pressure just think about it 

-No need to think about it of course I want to go will I be able to see pictures of you when you were young?

-Hahaha I see that's why you didn't even hesitate you want to dig my flaw to use it against me right?
