Ch6. Bandits
Big harvest!
Hahaha, I collected 160 stacks on overflowing after painstakingly hunting and fishing in the forest. But now, I got 108 just by attacking those horses.
Right now my Health point has reached 1550 and my total Mana is 1490. And I can feel my speed has increased once again after I collected 100 stacks on Blood Ancestry.
I heard something about 800 bandits on something valley. That would be my next target. If they targeted this caravan, then it might be best if I stick around them. Thus, I decided to hide and wait until they got ambushed by these bandits.
They continued the journey at midday. They spend the morning trying to find me. not noticing that all this time, I was chilling on the branch of a tree above them.
I followed them silently and slowly ..., teleport, wait, teleport, wait. Repeat. It was an interesting sight to see the women from that caravan taking a bath in the river. They were buck-naked with ample bosom like JAV actresses.
Damn my boner, calm down! If those men ended up dead, I'll take the girls. Calm the fuck down!
The scenery changed, from the previous lush green forest and now we entered desolate rocky hills. The caravan stopped when the sky has begun to darken. They set up a camp at a flatland, but then leave it behind. They continue forward after putting the hooves and wheel of the carriage with straw to muffle their movement. Seems like they were leaving these tents as a decoy, to trick the scouts think they haven't left yet.
I waited for them to leave and then dismantle the tents. Those were made of leather and linen cloth. It's quite precious for the current me. I took the brazier too they were made from crude bronze. I don't have any metal-based tools, maybe I'll mine some when I return.
After finished looting, I entered [Grand Feast] mode and flew towards them. It took less than a minute to catch up with them. The speed in this mode is no less than that of a galloping horse. It's quite useful. The duration and cooldown were the only problems.
The day has turned into the night. And I've traveled far enough from my base. I miss that place. Ah, this is so boring. Why I followed after them again? It's way better to craft some mundane things back in my base.
Hufhh ..., if only I'm not trying to get stronger, I won't be following this caravan waiting for those bandits to come. I don't care anymore, after I dealt with those bandits I'll return and enjoy my slow life as a craftsman.
They stopped on a hill. The carriage and horses were moving away after that. Leaving around 50 men and horses there to build some traps and palisade. I see ..., so they let them bait the bandits and buy some time for the women and the merchant to escape.
"Hmmm ..., should I follow those merchants? I can kill those men easily, and after that, I'd be able to enjoy those gravure-idol-like women."
Thinking about that I got something rising but it's not the shield hero.
No no no ..., stop thinking with your lower half, idiot! To gain more power is the priority right now. I watched as the merchants and women left with a bit of regret.
Well, anyway ..., let's wait and see what would they do fighting against these bandits.
Around three hours after that.
The earth is rumbling.
A huge number of men riding horses came, circling the hill with only a few men guarding a dummy carriage. It was the horse bandits. They were shouting some tribal warcry until they stopped and waited.
I salivate seeing those men in horses. I don't know why, but the prospect of killing them and getting stronger is more enticing than fucking those girls. Am I getting more bloodthirsty because of my ability? Nah, the temptation of power might be the cause.
The commander of the bandits gave an order for his men to charge forward. Only to be impeded by a cleverly hidden trap. Decimating them in one go, the caravan bodyguards were cheering as they felt the first victory in this bout.
"Those damned Zhao devils. If I, Hu Hui, allow anyone of you to die with an intact body, then I will retire immediately." Shouted the horse bandit ..., seems like their boss.
One of the bodyguards, the tallest of them took a bow and shot it at the bandit boss. It was a miss but still managed to kill one of the horsemen.
After that, the horn was blown. The horse bandits then race up their horses and started charging. They split into two groups to attack from all sides.
Seems like those horsemen learned a lesson, they carefully trod the mountain while watching out for traps. Spear and shield-wielding horsemen in the front, and horseback archers in the rear.
I'd say ..., although the bandit outnumbered these caravan men. Their leader is such an idiot for charging through this obvious trap without care. Kudos to the caravan men leader who thought of such an ingenious trap and plan.
After a few hard and desperate counterattacks from the caravan men, the bandits attempted to charge all in with their 500 remaining men. But then, the caravan side blows out a horn on their side. And they let loose the horses to the east side of the hill. These man-less horses then galloped straight into the bandits.
While the horse mindlessly charged into the bandits, the caravan men made an escape by running toward the west side.
Oh well ..., I suppose it's time for me to step in. The bandits have lost half of their men anyway. This would make it much easier.
I charged toward those bandits and sent my bat to feast upon them. I started the opening attack by using the combination of [Sanguine Claws] and [Bat Impact]. Each time my spells hit individuals it would gain a stack in Overflow, and with the first combination attack I gained 40 stacks! Which means I gathered 10 horsemen with the Sanguine Claws.
And that attack immediately send the men to the afterlife while the horse was panicking.
"What happens?"
"Bat!?"
"Behind you!?"
Amidst their confusion, I send more of my bats to kill them. Overall, these people are kinda weak. They don't have any protection against magic attacks so all of my damage entered them. These men have an average HP of around 100 to 200 if they were buffed out. While my Bat Impact, the first phase dealt 243 Magic Damage. So one hit kills for the men, but not with the horse. They have more health compared to these men.
The Bat Impact has 4 phases of attack. The first phase is the base damage, while the next phase times the damage and mana consumption by a factor of 1.8. It becomes a terrifying number in Phase 4 of the Bat Impact. If previously the first phase dealt only 243 damage, it would be around 440 at phase 2, 790 at phase 3, and 1,420 at phase 4!
Though, I couldn't use phase 4 because the Mana consumption is simply enormous. In phase 4, the mana needed for sending the bat to dive would be 466 Mana. Pretty much one-third of my max mana right now. While it is a sure kill move, but it was simply ineffective for fighting against a 200 HP enemy and pretty much cost inefficient. I'd rather spam the first and two phases of the Bat Impact.
I avoided a spear thrust while I was contemplating mana consumption and overall damage.
After he failed to attack me, his comrades started circling me, the stranger who suddenly appeared amidst their rank.
Blood Awe!
A rotating blood sphere exploded with me being the center. It sends the horses immobilized but the men have already lost their lives.
"Y-you ..., what are you? Don't ..., don't come!" a man who witnessed how his friend died asked with stuttering, stricken in horror.
"Hahaha ..."
I used the [Grand Feast] and I feel like a wolf inside a sheep pen. These humans were my prey.
I flew by flapping my filament wings to go deeper into the crowds and stunned them using Blood Awe. Though, the men immediately died when I used the Blood Awe.
The base damage was 270 for Blood Awe ..., and that is before added with the percentage of total magic power and total mana. Did I already say that these bandits have health points of around 100 to 200?
I charged on them while spamming my spells. My Max total mana pools have increased tremendously as I started gaining Stack on Overflow. Though, I used the spell on a specific interval so that I won't run out of mana before Mana Spring took effect. I never use my mana below one-third.
Thus the battle is filled with me hitting and running toward with them with my superior physique. Even my base form proves to be somewhat lethal. Add with some occasional spells that I throw.
"Ahhh help!"
If I killed 800 men plus their horses it would be 1.600 if I killed them all. By the end of the battle, I might get at least 10.000 extra Health Points.
I continued the killing. Some of the bandits who were far away from me ended up fleeing seeing how I massacred my way to the top.
Hey, don't run! I'm not done with you!
-—-
I sat down atop a rock with a rough breath. In front of me were mountains of corpses and carcasses. Oh, what are the differences you ask? The word corpse is for humans, and carcasses is for animals. I think. I might be wrong, but that's what I called it.
The surviving bandits were collecting weapons and armor from their fallen ex-comrades. Yes, there were still survivors from this one-sided massacre.
About 73 people put down their weapons and prostrate themselves in submission to me. I'm not that crazy to not spare a single one. If they surrender, then I'll accept it. Though, I won't let those who ran get away from my grasp.
But 73 people ..., should I kill 4 of them to make it a funny number? Nah, that would be unnecessary.
I took a water canteen from my inventory and drank a gulp of water. I killed a lot, used my mana a lot, and also lose some of my health points..., a lot too. But one thing that I feel severely lacking is my Stamina.
The others two parameters reached four digits range at the start of the battle. But my stamina was only 170 points. I felt so tired after five minutes of battling them. And there were still a lot of these bandits who were too courageous or too foolish to not run away from me.
I saw some achievements pop up when I started the massacre. Probably related to killing humans. Let's check them.
[You have successfully killed another human for the very first item! A reward has been added to your Inventory.]
[Congratulation! You have leveled up! Level 13 >>14!]
[Congratulation! You have leveled up! Level 14 >>15!]
...
[Congratulation! You have leveled up! Level 19 >>20!]
[You have reached the maximum level cap for Tier 1. Any experience point that the user gains would not be counted until you finish the Tier Ascension.]
[You have killed 100 humans! Gained a moniker "Mass Murderer".]
So there's something like a level cap ..., and what the hell is this moniker? Is this something like a title?
Daybreak has come ... and the sun illuminated the land. I don't even feel like having my villainous laughs right now. I don't regret what I did, they're villainous bandits who want to rob those caravans because they have what they want. I did nothing wrong.
Peh, it's not like I'm mentally fragile and need some weak reasoning like right or wrong. Taking the lives of other people is morally wrong, but I know that without strength in this savage world means death. I killed them, thus, I must bear the consequences of the killing.
Be it I must face the consequences later in this world while I am still alive, or perhaps in the afterlife after I died. Well, if I died for the second time, I hope that I can meet with Ramiel once again.
