Chapter 137: Tense Negotiations Episode I

[Hyperspace, En Route To Sneeve, 27 BBY, 2 AAF]

(3rd Person: POV)

Sitting at her desk chair in her personal quarters aboard the Orion-class cruiser she was currently on, which had been assigned to her before she board the vessel, Yennali held a datapad in her left hand.

Reviewing the information that was currently being displayed across its screen.

Information which pertained to her current mission.

Both as a Jedaii knight of the Jedaii Order, and as a lieutenant commander in the ADF Navy.

A rank Yennali had just recently been promoted to before being assigned her current mission.

Which was one of incredible importance.

Currently Yennali is on her way to the Kastolar Sector.

Who has shown interest in becoming a member state of the Galactic Systems Alliance.

Due to this fact a delegation of GSA senators were put together to be sent to the Kastolar Sector to see if they meet the requirements to join the GSA, and then negotiate the sectors entrance into the GSA if they do.

The delegation of GSA senators consisting of Mina Bonteri from Onderon, one of the two senators representing Dac in the GSA Senate Tundra Dowmeia, Lexi Dio from Uyter, and finally Yarua from Kashyyyk.

The reason that senator's Dio and Yarua were part of the GSA delegation to the Kastolar Sector being that their respective planets and systems became member states of the Galactic Systems Alliance during the previous year.

Now as to why Yennali is traveling with them it is because she was assigned to a team of Jedaii assembled fo protect the delegation of senators as they carried out their mission.

Since over the past two years tensions have increased between the Galactic Republic and the Galactic Systems Alliance.

Namely on the Republic's side.

Which the alliance is appalled by, considering it has done absolutely nothing to provoke the Galactic Republic.

Yet it seems the Republic doesn't see it that way.

Moving on.

After she finished reviewing the information about the mission on the datapad in her hands Yennali put it down stop her desk.

She then heard her stomach grumble and decided it was time to get some food in it.

So on that note she left her room and headed to the ships' commissary.

Then after filling up her test she began looking for a seat.

"Hey Yennali, over here."

Only to hear a familiar voice call out to her.

Turning in the voices direction Yennali saw the owner of it, Kento Marek, seated at a nearby table. A plate of food in front of him.

Along with all the other members of the Jedaii protection team that had been assigned to guard the Senate delegation on their mission to the Kastolar Sector.

Which were Komari Vosa, her recently knighted former Padawan Sia-Lan Wezz, and finally Nahdar Vebb and his former master Kit Fisto.

Heading over to the table as she as she saw Kento and the others, Yennali arrived and then promptly sat down beside her fellow Jedaii.

As well as fellow ADF officers.

Since just like Yennali all members of the delegation protection detail are both Jedaii and apart of the Galactic Systems Alliance Defense Forces.

"So young Yennali, how is everything going for you today?" Master Fisto asked her.

"It is going well." Yennali replied. Before digging into her food.

"That's good." Kento spoke.

"I concur." Nahdar added. "Especially since we are only a day away from the Kastolar Sector. Because once we enter it our mission will begin in earnest."

"Yeah, a super easy mission Nahdar." Sia-Lan spoke.

"Sia. Don't say such things." Yennali said. Sighing after she did.

Since Sia-Lan had just "raised a flag" as Van would say if he were present.

Honestly Yennali didn't understand what that particular phrase meant at first.

But after being around Van so long she knew it was meant to be used when someone triggered a jinx that turning something easy into something extremely hard.

Which Sia-Lan had likey just done.

'Though I could be wrong. Maybe nothing bad will happen.' Yennali thought.

"Yennali is right. Sia. Confidence is good, but hubris can lead to mistakes." Komari spoke to freshly knighted apprentice.

"Okay, okay, I get it. Geeze." Sia-Lan said.

Hearing this Yennali let her worried disappear.

'There's noo need to get so worked up. Everything will be fine as Sia-Lan said. This mission will be easy.' Yennali thought.

Not realizing she had just raised a flag herself.

[Kashyyyk Region, Kastolar Sector, Sneeve System, Sneeve]

Standing with her fellow Jedaii Yennali couldn't help but wear a wry smile on her face.

Since standing in front of her were several individuals she knew very well.

Jedi master Shark Ti.

Jedi master Tsui Choi.

Jedi master Depa Billaba.

Master Billabas' sister Jedi knight Sar Labooda.

The Galactic Republic Senator from Chalacta Yudrish Sedran.

Senator Aks Joe from Malastare.

Finally senator Bail Prestor Organa from Alderaan.

Looking between the two groups the senator from Sneeve, Jollin Resbin was at a loss for words.

That's not even taking into account the thick and awkward tension in the air.

Which thankfully was broken by master Kit Fisto.

"Well, what a coincidence this is." The Nautolan Jedaii master spoke.

Even though he knew it was anything but.

Because for a delegation from the Galactic Republic to arrive on Sneeve at the same day and time a delegation from the Galactic Systems Alliance Senste arrived to assess the Kastolar Sector for membership into the GSA was a message both side understood loud and clear.

Sensing things were about to become difficult Yennali sighed.

Making a mental note to try and never raise a flag ever again.

Since it looks like doing so sucked.
