Saving Lifes

When Adrian was leaving the arena, he began smelling something foul from outside. He had no idea what it was, but he had a memory of this smell from somewhere. This smell was the exact same from the village that he had visited which had been slaughtered.

Remembering this past experience, made his feet move much faster than they were before, he did not want to be witness to another massacre.

As soon as he came out of the arena, he was greeted by the sight of hell. The capital had been painted red with blood from both demons and humans. The previous lively and beautiful streets had become deadly silent with corpses scattered everywhere.

It would be no exaggeration to say that this was much worse than any battlefield, this might even be worse than what you would see in hell. Adrian had seen a massacre in the small village, but the sight in front of him now, made him want to throw up.

The eyes of Innes also showed shock, it was a wild beast, and it had never seen anything like this in its life.

"AAAAAAH!!!!"

They did not have a lot of time to take in the brutal sight of the streets before they heard the screaming of a woman. Adrian had no weapon, but he still chose to run straight to where the voice came from.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!"

The woman screamed again, this time Adrian had already arrived at the scene. What he saw, was a massive demon of 4 meters with red skin, wings, and horns. Before the demon, was a woman with no clothes on.

Adrian could quickly figure out what the goal of the demon was, but he did not know they wanted to rape human women. This just gave him another reason to hate and kill these monsters.

"Praying on innocent woman, have you no shame?" Adrian said this, as he thought it would sound kind of cool, but also to get the attention of the demon.

"Hmm, what do you want?" The demon just looked at Adrian with a sideglance, he felt no threat from Adrian.

"Hmm, nothing much ... I just want to kill you!" Adrian said as he released his killing intent.

This killing intent shocked the massive demon, he had not fought a human with this much killing intent before. What frightened it a little though, was not the killing intent, it was the calm smile on Adrian's face. This showed that Adrian had quite decent control of his mind and emotion.

No normal human would be able to stand in front of a demon, smiling calmly, much less a weaponless human. Hell, even a human warrior might run away in fear of death.

"You seem stronger than I initially thought!" The demon turned around, choosing to completely ignore the naked woman. "Either that or you are a complete idiot!" He said that, trying to provoke some anger.

The woman took this chance to run away, not caring about her being naked. Adrian saw this and was relieved that he could help. He was also not an idiot, as he knew he was far from strong enough to take this demon on, all he really wanted was for the woman to get away.

"Well, I really want to kill you, but I am missing my weapon at the moment, so you will have to wait!" Adrian said as he looked the demon straight in the eyes. "Bye!"

He pushed against the ground with his full might as he used 'Dash' to get away. He moved so fast that it looked like he was teleporting down the streets. The massive demon did not know what to do, as he knew he was not that fast, he was a demon focused on strength. Adrian knew this, so he was confident in getting away.

"Well, at least I still have the wo..." The demon then turned around as if wanting to continue from where he left off. "Taking away my joy?! I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!" The demon realized that the woman had run away when the demon was focused on Adrian.

Adrian clearly heard this yell as he was running, but he did not have a reaction, as his face was stone-cold at the moment. His mood was ruined, as no matter how far he ran, the streets were still blood red.

Two old men were standing on a building at the side of where Adrian had just been, looking down at the massive and angry demon. These two men were, of course, Gary and Joseph.

It seems he has a good moral compass, as well as being smart enough to not fight when he knows he is much weaker!" Joseph said to Gary as if knowing this is what Gary wanted to confirm in their previous exchange.

"Hmm, yeah, he seems to be a good kid!" Gary did not say any more than this, but if Joseph could see the eyes of Gary, he would know that Gary thought much more of the kid.

All Adrian could really think about when he was looking at these streets, was that he was hoping that Johanna was alive. That is truly his only worry at the moment.

He did not really look for her at the moment though, what he was doing at the moment, was to save the lives of survivors in the capital.

Going into ruined houses, fighting smaller demons to save other fighters. As he was doing all of this, he managed to find a spear, as well as make a huge group of survivors. Most of the survivors though were civilians with no fighting experience, but some of them were guards and adventurers.

They formed a big circle as they went through the bloody streets, where the fighters were placed around the circle, to protect the civilians from any attack. Many demons attacked the group while they were walking, trying to find a safe place. For every attack that came, a few of the warriors died, but more demons had died, than warriors.

When they finally arrived at the entrance to the capital, they all knew that there were no safe spots in the capital, all they could do would be find a forest to lay low in. The problem with that though was that at the entrance, many demons had gathered.

It seems as if the demons do not want the humans to leave and scatter, they want to massacre the whole capital in one move. This group that Adrian had put together, had to get out of this entrance though.

"Listen, everyone! We all know that we have to get out of the city for us to be the safest!"Adrian started speaking to everyone. "The only way to get out though is through that entrance!" Pausing while pointing at the entrance where the demons had gathered. "I am far from a good strategist, but I know we can break through!" Adrian said.

"As far as I can see, there are ten demons at the entrance, with only one of them being stronger than the others ... I have confidence in my strength, so I can most definitely take care of the stronger demon! What I need from you, is a few brave warriors, who can help me hold the other nine off, as this group escapes! Is there anyone willing to help me?" Adrian said to the group, hoping that he might inspire someone to help him.

"I know I am asking for a ..."

"I will do it!" Adrian tried to continue but was interrupted by a young warrior standing up, putting a fist to his chest. "I have confidence in myself too, I can most definitely take one of the weaker ones!"

"Me too!"

"Me three!"

"Me ...

This happened until ten warriors stood by Adrian's side. This made Adrian's heart feel warm, as this meant that all of these men would be his brothers. He would place his life in their hands, and they in his.

"Okay, now that we have settled the fighters, all the group has to do, is escape when the fighting starts! I hope you are ready!" Adrian said as he had a serious look in his eyes. The whole group just nodded at Adrian.

"Good, Then, let us get this over with!" Adrian said, as he started moving towards the entrance.
