The sun had long set by the time Morgana and her companions reached the edges of the Great Divide. The mountains rose ahead of them like jagged teeth, their peaks shrouded in mist and shadow. The air was cold and still, the silence of the wilderness only broken by the distant calls of night creatures hidden in the underbrush.
Captain Rowan, who had been leading the way, pulled her horse to a stop and gestured ahead. "We've reached the edge of the Divide. From here, the terrain gets rough. There's an old pass about a day's ride from here, but we'll need to travel on foot once we reach it."
Morgana nodded, her eyes scanning the distant mountains. Somewhere beyond those peaks lay the ruins of Asphoros—the City of Dusk. The map they had obtained from Eryndor marked a path through the mountains, but it was clear that it wouldn't be an easy journey.
"We'll rest here for the night," Morgana said, glancing at Kirin and Lyana. "We'll need our strength for what's ahead."
