Demon slayer....1

We have been traveling west for almost 1 week now. In the path we took, there were many challenges. Sunny and I are giving Nephis all of our soul shards, but I started to give Cassia some soul shards too so she can also get stronger. We have killed so many scavengers; it was turning stale. Now, after walking for so long, we are in a desert-like place full of huge bones with nothing alive.

Sunny looked at me and said, "I have been trying to search throughout the land, and I found nothing. It's like there are no more monsters, just bones and ashes throughout the land. It's like a death place. I am not feeling good about it." Well, why would we? This was the place that Bastard lived. From what I know, this place is a hunting ground of an Awakened Demon.

"Don't worry about it for now. From what I could tell, this may be a hunting ground of some powerful nightmare creature, but we will deal with it if he shows up." I can tell everyone got alerted and was on their toes after I said that. As we are going through this vast dead land full of ashes, I can feel something was following us.

Nephis also noticed it. "I think something is following us."

Sunny frowned. "Well, if something is following us in this dead land, it must not be good. I will try to watch our back then." Well, he does not need to, as I have already found our hunter. He was so big but so stealthy. I will let him follow us for now, so I said nothing, and we kept going.

Just like that, another day passed. We climbed on top of a giant bone structure of an ancient monster. I could not believe how big it was to be out of water. I don't even want to know how it has died. It just goes to show that Dark Sea was hiding horrors that are terror, or there may be even a titan. If I remember correctly, there were rumors that the Dark Sea was an alive monster. Well, I don't think that's too crazy. This sea can be the body of a titan; who knows?

The next day we woke up, and Cassia had a vision. "I had a vision; it was, I think, about the Demon that has been following us." Sunny freaked out hearing "Demon." "So you are telling me the thing that has been following us is a Demon? And was it a vision of the past or future?"

"It was of the past. In it, the Carapace Demon has a body made out of polished metal. It's tall as a house, and it's black with crimson streaks. It was digging under a great tree we saw in the distance, and there were lightning bolts falling, but it did nothing to the Demon. It stood and looked at one of the big lightning bolts start a big fire; this is why there is nothing but ash here."

I looked at them. "If that Demon has been digging under that great tree, and if it's him that has been following us, we should pay that creature a visit to his home and kill it, as it's hunting us for more than a day. It will be deadly to fall in his trap." Sunny was almost on the brink of falling down.

"Have you really gone crazy? It's a Demon; even with your powers, one mistake and we are dead. Can't we run away?" Nep and I shook our heads. I was glad Nep was here to get her slave boy straight, as she was with me most of the time.

"No, it's not that crazy if you use your brain. Yes, it's a Demon, and the risk of death is way higher, but it's an enemy we know; it's just another scavenger which has just evolved. So our chances of taking it down are higher. And do you really think it will just leave us if we run away from it?" I think Sunny was finally getting it; even if we run to the end of the world, there was a chance it will keep following us, as these creatures were not mindless, but they had a sense that had been corrupted and twisted.

"So you are telling we should go to that great tree, fight that Demon, and kill it? Yeah, very sane plan indeed; why not? Then we will be the sleepers who will get the title of Demon slayers. I like that. So when should we start?" I looked at the sky and sighed; it was not even about killing the Demon; he was just a fodder. If I bring out watchers and Watch Dog, we will bully it till that prideful sinister bastard will cry. But that tree was the main point of interest.

I don't know, or maybe I will never know how? But there is an unborn terror on that tree, and that tree that I was looking at in the distance is a corrupted tyrant, really dangerous mind type, and I almost died in my first nightmare from one. But I am doing it for the story, or I say getting Sunny to have Weaver's blood, a Deamon's blood, so he won't die. And he is an insurance that if I somehow mess up and die, he might save the world.

I looked at Sunny and asked, "Hey Sunny, if you were given the chance to save the world or yourself, what would you do?" I looked at him, and he was looking deep in thought after I asked him that question. I can see him struggling.

"Ah, why would you ask this question anyway? And I don't know. If it was some weeks ago, I would have answered I will save myself. But you know, I have a sister somewhere out there, and after your speech about protecting and stuff, I don't know." I can see he was struggling, but it was great progress he has made. If he was a Sunny from the novel at this point, the answer would have been to save his own ass. For now, so I smiled at him.

"What are you smiling about? I am not some bleeding heart knight like you, so don't expect much from me." I nodded at him and looked at Nep. She was looking at the tree in the distance where we will go for the hunt of the Demon, and Cassia is eating some bread like a squirrel.

"What about you, Cassia? What are you fighting for to get out of the Dream Realm?" I can see she was not expecting that question.

"You know, I have a family, and I really love them, and I miss them, so I want to go back to them. I am sure they already think I am dead, but thanks to you guys, I am still alive." She looked down. I can tell she is sad and thinks of herself as a burden, but she will be the key in the future, why we will be alive, and she is no less stronger than anyone, as carrying the weight of the future can be the heaviest thing.

I look at Nep, who was listening to us well. "What about you, Nep? Any goal? Why are you fighting for?" I think more than me, Sunny was interested.

"I hate the spell, and I will destroy it." Nep unhinged as always, but she is arrogant right now, but it will change soon. But it does not mean her goal will go away.

"What do you mean you will destroy the spell? How will you even do it? You are really are crazy." Sunny was in full disbelief. He was now looking Nep in a new light and just realized how she really is crazy.

"How is that crazy? It's our number one enemy, and I will just burn it all, and whoever stands in my way, it took everything away from us; it's our enemy." I shook my head. It's so far away from now; she first needs to survive, but she did shut up Sunny. I have to plan how we will take down a demon next day.
