Pewter Gym

"How come this building is so different than all the others in the city?" he asked.

Gary shrugged as he walked to the door, "Well most gym leaders focus on one Pokémon type, their gyms usually take aspects of that type in their design….. Hey what!, the door is locked!"

After a few more attempts Gary sighed and turned around, "Looks like the gym leader isn't at the gym. We'll just have to come back tomorrow, for now, let's go to the Pokémon Center and get some sleep."

"Actually I'm thinking of looking around"

"Okay just make sure that you don't get lost, if you do just ask people where the Pokémon Center is, everyone from here should know."

They walked back together but he split from the group when they arrived at the city.

'This city is very different from the one I'm used to but one thing remains the same, if I want to live here I need to get money. Usually, I could live from what I catch in the forest but until I learn more about the creatures in this world that is a big no, no.'

As he walked around Ethan observed the interactions between people. He could see that a large number of people walking on the streets were actually accompanied by Pokémon which was an unfamiliar sight to him. People kept staring at his armor and whispering about him, since he wanted to observe without standing out he decided to go to an abandoned alley and put his armor in his storage space. As he walked to what seemed to be a garbage dump he suddenly heard a weak voice from something inside.

"(Chop…. Chop... Machop)"

He quickly put the armor away and looked inside, he wasn't able to see anyone but he heard the voice again under the bags. Ethan moved some of the bags and found an oddly humanoid beast more dead than alive.

'Is this also a Pokémon? Gary said that Pokémon can only say its name over and over and well this guy keeps repeating the same thing.'

He used body enhancement to slowly take it out of the garbage dump, "let get you to the Pokémon center alright."

As he tried to help guide the Pokémon out of the alleyway but the Pokémon gently pushed him away. He was confused and could only look as the Pokémon went deeper into the alleyway.

'Father always said that if your assistance gets rejected then you shouldn't waste your time. Good luck buddy, wish you the best of luck.'

As he continued walking through the streets he found out that the currency of this world was called Pokédollars which were strands of paper. Ethan failed to see the value of paper, in his world they used gold, silver, and copper coins, he would prefer having those than paper.

Now that he knew what the currency was he needed to understand the value of it so he entered stores and got a rough estimate of what things were worth. He had unconsciously walked out of the busy city with the tall glass building and entered a more normal one. Here houses actually looked like houses and not like giant blocks.

'Though there are some differences to the living areas in my world, I have to admit that I feel more comfortable here.'

"Give it back!"

"Or what? Are you going to run home and tell mommy and daddy? Wait that's right you don't have a mom or a dad do you?"

"That's right, I heard that his dad and mom left them because they didn't love them."

Ethan turned around and saw two kids throwing around what looked like a fat human rock. The two kids were keeping it away from a small kid who was asking for it back.

"If you don't give it back then I'm going to tell my brother, you know that he has strong Pokémon?"

One of the kids laughed and waved the rock figure around in front of the little kid who was desperately jumping to get ahold of it.

"So you going to be a snitch, huh, you know what they say, snitches get stitches. No one likes a snitch and besides we are just playing, isn't this fun?"

Ethan began to become angrier and angrier, even though those kids looked younger than him there was no reason for acting like such jerks.

He used body enhancement and ran into the biggest kid.

Just as the bully was about to catch the rock man, he suddenly felt something hit him and before he knew it he had his face planted on the ground.

After pushing the kid out of the way Ethan caught the whatever it was and gave it to the small kid. He then walked to the bully who was starting to get up and kicked him in the butt hard. The kid yelled in pain and as he tried to get up again Ethan put his feet on the kid's head and pushed it back to the ground.

Ethan looked at the other bully who was just standing there dumbfounded, "If you guys want to play and have fun then I have some games. What do you say, wanna play?"

The kid turned around quickly and ran away, meanwhile the other was struggling to get up. Ethan lifted his foot and lifted the kid by the arm and squeezed it.

"If you ever bother him again then I will break your arms next time, understand?"

The kid nodded wildly and as soon as he let go the kid ran after the other one. When Ethan turned around to look at the small kid he was surprised to see him frightened.

'Damn it, though I did this because those guys were bothering me I still wanted to get some RP points. If he is frightened of me then I'm not sure I'll get them.

"Don't be frightened, I won't hurt you. I only wanted to scare them so that they don't bother you again. Can I know your name?"

The kid hesitated for a bit but he responded with a soft voice, "Tim….Timmy."

"Nice to meet you, Timmy, my name is Ethan. Do those kids usually bully you?"

Timmy began to tear up and he nodded, "They always take my things away."

He began walked closer and patted the kid's back, "Don't worry it won't happen again, if it does then I'm going to scare them again. Now let me take you home alright?"

The little kid nodded and Ethan began following him, "Listen Timmy those mean things that those kids said to you are not true, okay. I don't know your parents but my father told me once that all parents love their children."

During their walk, Timmy started telling him more about his story. Apparently, his dad left them to become a Pokémon trainer and hasn't returned to this day. His mother also left after and the only guardian he has now is his big brother. Since Timmy didn't want to bother his already busy brother he decided to keep quiet about the bullying that he and his siblings face sometimes.

After hearing the full story Ethan lightly patted Timmy's head "I see, you're lucky to have such a nice brother, you have to make sure to not give him trouble but that doesn't mean that you don't tell him about things like this. Look my mother died when she had my baby brother in her belly, so I never really got to know what being an older brother is but I know that I would hate it if my little brother got bullied and didn't tell me."

Timmy seemed to think about it and he nodded, "Okay I will next time.... That's my house."

Ethan nodded and patted Timmy's head on last time "Okay then take care alright, it's getting late so I have to go now."

The small kid smiled and waved at him, "Come visit us sometime."

He nodded and walked back to the Pokémon Center, where he was guided to the room that he would be sharing with Gary.

"Hey, Ethan how was your walk? I was getting worried about you since it was getting pretty late."

He shrugged and began to lay on the bed, 'Wow it's so soft and comfortable.'

"Hey, aren't you going to take a bath? Not to be rude but you stink."

"Is there someplace I can do that here?"

Gary pointed at another door in the room, "The bathroom is over there, oh and here, I didn't see you having any other clothes so."

He caught the pants and an orange shirt, "Thanks."

After painfully finding out how a shower works Ethan was finally able to shower and get ready to sleep.

"Starting tomorrow I can finally get start preparing to get some points."
