Resentful husband(2)

They walked downstairs, and John turned his head to look at Mark Cooper, who had rushed over in the middle of the night. "Would you like a drink?" John said gratefully.

Mark Cooper choked, "It's almost dawn in two hours, and I need to go back to sleep. You should get some rest too," he paused for a moment and continued, "Don't act like a resentful husband just because of a woman. If you need to let go, then let go."

John sat down on the sofa and pulled out a pack of cigarettes from the coffee table, smoking leisurely.

Watching him, Mark Cooper felt a sense of frustration. It was all because of Jane, that wicked woman. "I'll head home now."

On the eve of dawn, John sat alone in the large villa, smoking.

"Cough, cough..." Jane coughed incessantly in the hospital corridor, using a tissue to muffle the sound. Her aunt, Xia, stood beside her, looking worried. "Jane, are you okay?"

Before Xia could finish her words of concern, Jane interrupted with a smile. "I'm fine, Aunt Xia. How is Jack doing?"

"The doctor said he's not doing too well lately. He's too young to have so many worries. His heart is under too much stress, and the probability of heart disease has increased a lot," Xia spoke the truth, then regretted it. She shouldn't have told Jane. She had her own problems to deal with, and how could she take care of Jack?

"I'll take turns with Sadie to take care of Jack. You should go home and rest," she quickly added.

Jane forced a bitter smile. Jack was just over four years old, at an age when he should be carefree. All of his worries probably stemmed from her. He was afraid of her falling ill or dying, and he tried his best to make her delicious food, taking care of her thoughtfully. He was like a little man, not a little boy.

"Then please take care of him for me, Aunt Xia. When he wakes up, tell him I'm doing well, and that I'm on a business trip and won't be back for a while."

Xia was surprised. "Are you really going on a business trip?"

Jane nodded and said, "I have to go."

Aunt Xia frowned, her face full of concern. "Your health...," she said, coughing incessantly since they met, obviously her condition had worsened.

"I will take care of myself," Jane said softly.

She couldn't die before finding her biological son.

After saying goodbye to Aunt Xia, Jane went to the hospital downstairs and got into an inconspicuous Volkswagen car.

A few hours ago, when she was trapped in the attic and almost fainting from fear, her phone rang suddenly. It was George Hayes, telling her that they had some clues about Natalie Mitchel and asking if she wanted to go to A City to meet her in person.

This phone call was like a sharp axe that cut through the darkness, instantly dispelling the fear inside her, making her clear-headed. She immediately expressed her strong desire to go and also told George Hayes about being trapped in the attic. He then rescued her with Awu.

She couldn't rest assured about Jack and came to the hospital to visit him before leaving.

Now, the distant sky was turning pale, and a new day was approaching.

Awu handed her the breakfast she had just bought. "Eat first and take a nap. Boss and I will take turns driving on the highway for more than four hours."

Jane gratefully took the warm breakfast. "Thank you."

Awu scratched her own messy hair like a chicken coop and said embarrassedly, "Don't mention it. You eat and have a good rest."

After tossing and turning all night, she hadn't eaten much, and was really exhausted. Jane ate breakfast carefully and then took out a cough medicine from her bag and swallowed it. As soon as she closed her eyes, she fell into a deep sleep.

Awu glanced at the back seat and said, "Boss, Jane is so pitiful. We must help her find her son."
