Chapter 22

While the carriage is running, Luna enjoys her eyes on the scenery they pass by. The fields are lush green and the wind is very cool under the sunny blue sky.

"We are almost home, Luna," Sebastian uttered.

She noticed how Sebastian kept fidgeting. He seems nervous.

"Is it really alright with your family if I stay in your house?" She asked.

"Yes. Well, my mother and my adopted sister are in the capital right now. But my father and brother are still at home. I will introduce you to them."

"But Sir Sebastian, I remember when you first saw me with my bare face. I'm worried that your family will not take it well."

"Don't worry about that. I already sent them a letter in advance. They are expecting us. And stop calling me Sir Sebastian."

What is wrong with him? He was the one who set boundaries at first.

The carriage stopped in front of a huge gate. In front is a big three-story mansion. Straight from the fairy tale. She did not expect Sebastian's family to be very rich.

"Wow! Is this your home?"

The front lawn is very wide, planted with beautiful flowers. At the center is a fountain with an intricate structure.

Luna saw two men standing at the main door of the mansion. One is a middle-aged man around his late 30s or early 40s. He has ginger hair with good looks and is well-dressed. He must be Sebastian's father. Beside him is an old formally suited man with glasses. He must be an assistant or a butler.

"Wait here, Luna. I'll speak with my father first. Do not take off your cloak and cover your head with your hood."

Damn! It's hot and I'm sweating.

"Fine."

Sebastian took off from the carriage and greeted his father Rolan Randolf and their butler Isaac.

"I received your letter from the messenger yesterday. Why do you want to dismiss all the servants today? And who is that person you mentioned you will bring with you?" His father asked.

"She's in the carriage, father. I'll introduce her to you but where is brother?" He asked.

"He's in his office. He said he has no time for this."

"But father, did you really dismiss all the servants?"

"Yes. But tell me who is this person?"

"It's Georgina."

Rolan looked confused as he heard the familiar name. A name of someone he buried deep in his heart, his only daughter.

"What are you talking about?"

"My sister, Georgina. I found her. But father she has no memories of us and I can't bring to tell her about her true identity-"

"Sebastian!" Rolan screamed at his son in anger. "Are you out of your mind? Did you hit your head? Your sister is dead! How many times do I have to tell you that!"

"But father it is really her. Prince Grey and I found her in the Marduklan forest, living alone for more than three years."

Rolan puts his hand on his head which is starting to ache. He knows his son's suffering since his sister died. He blamed himself for her death and had nightmares about it but he did not expect him to be delusional.

"Your sister is dead and we talked about not mentioning her name in this house. Have you forgotten?"

"I know it's very hard to believe-"

"Enough!" Rolan shouted at his youngest son. He doesn't want to relieve all the pain of losing her beloved daughter and now his son who is losing his mind.

Sebastian exhales in frustration. He walked back to the carriage and called Luna to come down.

"Are you alright?" Luna asked when she peeked at Sebastian's gloomy face.

Sebastian held her hand and walked her toward his father.

Rolan and Isaac looked at the woman standing in front of them. She's wearing a cloak and her face is covered with her hood.

"Father, she is Luna. Luna, he is my father, Rolan Randolf." Sebastian introduced them.

Luna took off her hood and smiled at the man.

"It is nice to meet you, Marquess Randolf. I'm Sebastian's friend, Luna."

Randolph saw a very familiar face. A face he tried to forget. His daughter Georgina. Her voice is exactly her daughter's voice.

"Georg-" Rolan muttered in a trembling voice. His eyes were wide and his skin turned pale as he gazed at the young woman in front of him.

Luna saw the man's shocking reaction upon seeing her. She gazed at Sebastian with questioning eyes. She expected that he would inform his father about her similarity to his dead sister. But maybe he is still stunned upon seeing her in person. She suddenly felt sorry for Marquess Rolan. She regretted coming with Sebastian to their territory and having to remind this man about his dead daughter. Even the Butler is a bit surprised upon seeing her.

"Father, Luna would like to stay with us for the time being. Mr. Isaac, will you please take her luggage to the annex?"

"Y-yes, young master," Isaac answered in a stuttered voice but proceeded to the carriage to unload the luggage.

"How... how can this?" Rolan speaks in a hesitating voice.

He raised his hand and touched Luna's soft cheek.

Luna saw the man's emotion in his eyes. Shock then confused. But now, she can see pain and longing. Luna can't help but feel sorry. She walked forward and embraced the man.

Rolan sensed the familiar smell of her daughter as she embraced him.

A long time ago, Georgina begged him to stop her engagement with the prince. She was crying as she pleaded in front of him but he dismissed her. He decided to stop pampering her. She grew up a brat because they tolerated her a lot. This engagement is more important than her childish tantrum. The next morning she wore a pretty white dress and walked down the staircase. She didn't greet him but walked straight to the carriage. He did not bother as he thought she would get around once she understood the importance of this marriage to their family. Never in his mind that it would be the last time he would see her beloved daughter. Seeing traces of her blood on that cliff is like a thousand knives cutting into his heart. The pain of losing a child he cherished and loved more than his life. He was never the same after that day.

Tears fall from his eyes as he embraces Luna tightly in his arms. He missed her. He misses his daughter whom he tried to forget for the past three years.
