Research into Magic

It's been several weeks since he and Glynda talked to Mare about the burden of being a Huntsmen. Though it took a few days of reasoning with her, she eventually came to understand that she shouldn't rush into it and enjoy her childhood while she can. When she agreed, Logan offered to investigate the mission her parents went on to find out what happened to them. After getting the mission details from Mare, Logan asked her where her parents got the mission from and what rank they were. Mare and Glynda said they mainly got their missions from Haven Academy's mission board and were competent B rank Huntsmen.

.

Logan then asked if any more missions like this ended similarly. Mare didn't know and Glynda said one would need permission to check the mission records of another Kingdom for that information. When question why Logan admitted that a few missions he went on without Qrow watching him were far higher ranked than what was posted and those that were, came from Haven, personally picked by Headmaster Lionheart. C-ranked missions were better off ranked as A or even S ranked. Logan said it might have been something similar to what happened to him

.

Once Logan got enough information from Mare, Logan had her go to bed after promising to find out what happened to her parents. Though she had a heavy heart, Mare complied and headed off to do her nightly routine before bed. After Logan made sure she was in her bed, Logan sat back down with Glynda and told her his worries about Lionheart. Never outright saying Lionheart was purposely messing with the mission ranks as he knew his words carry far too much weight. In the end, Ozpin was told about Logan's worries and he managed to convince Mistral's council to investigate the mission board for either tampering or false information on missions. Though Mistral's council made sure to get some sort of payment out of it.

.

In the end, Leonardo Lionheart was forced to step down as Haven's Headmaster and he asked for a woman named Fen Silvervine to be instated as Headmaster. A dark-skinned woman with silver hair from the lower levels of Mistral city. Mistral's council did a complete background check and found nothing criminal about her and accepted it since the new semester of Haven was starting soon. With it all said and done, Logan got to work in the morning to find out what happened to Mare's parents.

.

It took over a week, but Logan managed to find their remains. And remains were all that he could find. Logan managed to find her father's sword and her mother's rifle then he cremated what was left of their bodies and put the ashes in an engraved silver urn he bought from his [System: Store]. Upon Logan's return, he handed what he found and the urn to Mare. Mare broke down and cried for several days before she finally came to terms at least enough to function in day-to-day life. Logan knew what it felt like to lose those close to you so he became the shoulder Mare could cry on and did his best to ease Mare back into a sense of normalcy.

.

Logan grunted in annoyance as he read through another tome from the Age of Gods that Salem managed to preserve. He had been reading through all she managed to find after he got a bad feeling a few days ago. One that both Salem and Glynda felt as well. To them, it felt as if the mana in the air surged for a brief moment before calming down. Tome after tome after tome, Logan couldn't help but feel that something would happen soon and that it involved magic.

.

Salem: "Logan?" Salem called out as she entered the underground room where she kept the magic tomes. 'Where are you?"

Logan: "Over here!" Logan responded as his head popped above a pile of tomes. "You need something." His eyes had heavy bags under them, showing how tired he was.

Salem: "Well for one, you need to rest. You've practically slept here for the last three days." Salem told him as she walked up to his side. "Two, the new school year is starting tomorrow and you haven't submitted any plans for your weekly classes. Three, I came down in the place of Glynda."

Logan: "Shite!" Logan shouted as he facepalmed himself.

Salem: "Head on up, I'll clean up here." Salem said as she giggled at Logan's fate.

Logan: "Thank-" Logan was saying as he stood but stumbled and fell, knocking several tomes fell on top of him.

.

Salem couldn't help but laugh at Logan's plight as he's usually quite nimble even when tired. As Logan sat up, a single tome fell off the top of a pile and smacked the top of his head. Rubbing his head Logan started to pick up the fallen tomes. As he did, a hand-scribbled note fell almost out of one of the tomes. Acting quickly, Logan snapped the tome closed and held it tight keeping the note where it was placed. Upon opening the tome where the note was, Logan couldn't help but read both the note and the page where the note was.

.

The page read:

'Though unconfirmed, it is theorized that Grimm are shadow atronachs given form through an extreme emotional flux in both animals and humans that can use magic. Through the emotional flux, a corrupt form of mana is produced that the Shadow Ether (Shadow world) absorbs and condenses into another form of energy that then forms the Grimm's body. This energy then leaves the Shadow Ether (Shadow World) as what we know as the Grimm Pools that litter the Land of Darkness, the Homeland of Grimm. Upon destruction of a Grimm, this energy is purified and returned to the world as Ether then turned into mana due to the elements.

The God of Darkness, however, is the one credited for the creation of Grimm and the creation of the Grimm Pools. Upon conversing with the God, he deemed them to be his greatest masterpiece. But, either a slip of the tongue or something else, the God of Darkness muttered that he couldn't take all of the credit and that his brother gave him a hand in their creation. At first, I believed he was referring to the God of Light, but from experience talking with the God of light reviled that he abhors anything dark or evil. Could there be a third brother god that we don't know about or is there a reason the two Brother Gods have hidden the existence of a third brother god?

I never asked either Brother God of this due to fear that I would have my memory erased or be erased myself. The only reason I am even able to write this is due to the God of Darkness not even realizing that he said it or he believed I did not hear him as I was writing the information he gave down.'

.

Logan had a feeling that this tome was what he was looking for, but from a precautionary skim through of the tome reviled that it was mainly theories and the like. But Logan couldn't help but notice several pages had some sort of coded message in them. After marking them down a scrap piece of paper, Logan read the note.

.

The note read:

'To anyone that finds this tome of mine, I have found out that there was once a Third God. But for some reason, the other two made him or her disappear from any and all records. The only reason I know of this is due to one of the schools of magic not falling into either Light or Dark and ruins hidden deep in the sea and guarded by the strongest Grimm, Leviathans. I-'

.

The note cut off there as if the one writing it either died suddenly or vanished before he could finish the note. Soon, gears started to turn in Logan's head as possibilities started forming one after another. From the Brother Gods attempted interference with his system and them openly mentioning plans in front of him. Idea after idea came and went as Logan started to eliminate possibilities of what they could be planning.

.

Logan: "Salem, who was the author of this tome?" Logan asked Salem suddenly.

Salem: "I believe that tome's author was an apprentice mage by the name of Shun Drivair." Salem answered almost immediately after looking at the tome. "If you're wondering about the hidden encrypted code in it, I already solved it about 150 years ago, give or take a year or two. It gave coordination to a mountain range that I thoroughly explored and used what magic I had at the time to look for anything out of the ordinary. Besides a few caves hidden here and there, the mountain range was rich in resources but it was cleaned out when Atlas was being constructed. Now it's just a hollow mountain and a Grimm nest."

Logan: "There must be something more to this." Logan muttered before taking the tome with him. "I'll be borrowing this one!" Logan called out as he left Salem.

.

Logan threw the tome into his [Inventory] and made a mental note to look through it carefully later. Now, his main goal was to first find his wife and pamper her to heaven and back as he rather not sleep on the couch tonight. Maybe a full-body massage or two will lighten her mood, Logan thought as he impatiently waited for the elevator to open. As soon as it did, Logan raced out and immediately searched for his wife. When he found her, Logan nearly shat himself from the look on Glynda's face. Needless to say, Glynda was pampered by Logan for the next three days and did not have to lift a finger unless she need to do so.

.

Logan sighed as he started to plan his weekly classes out, figuring he'd go over proper fitness routines first to make sure all students were up to scratch first. Then he'll follow with close-quarters combat in areas where a weapon would be detrimental. The next few classes would be about movement marksmanship and camouflage. By the time Logan finished his planning, the entire school year was planned for with scheduled breaks when the homework starts to pile with for the students. As he planned his classes, one could see that Logan was also cooking dinner for both Glynda and himself using his ash as an extra set of arms.

.

What Logan didn't know was that as he cooked, Glynda hid around the corner of the doorway into the kitchen. A small smile graced her face as she listened in as Logan cooked and muttered to himself as he focused on his work. Glynda couldn't help but to quietly giggle at how much work Logan was doing just to make sure she wasn't mad at him. She never told Logan, but she like it when he was completely focused on a task. The look he got in his eye made him even more charming to Glynda. With a devious smirk, Glynda walked back to their bedroom planning to give Logan a 'treat' for all that he's done so far for her.

.

Logan groaned as he shifted awake after last night. Glynda decided to award him for all his hard work by draining him last night. To the point that Logan wasn't sure that he could walk without the assistance of his ash even after using his golden flames.

.

Logan: 'If she's not pregnant after that, then I fear what it's gonna take.' Logan thought grimly as he used his ash to moved his body into the bathroom.

.

While Logan could at least bathed himself, Glynda on the other hand just smiled in her sleep. Dreaming about two little kids running around her and Logan. An older boy with Logan's hair color and her eyes while the girl had Logan's eyes and her hair color. Both of them were running around an open field while Glynda and Logan were sitting on a porch deck swing. She is in bliss as her dream continued as Glynda slept.

.

Meanwhile, with Logan...

.

Logan: "I still can't feel my legs..." Logan laminated as he soaked in the bathtub. An occasional green light arched down his body.
