Chapter 56 -- Battle, Third Confrontations 

On the earth tower, a few seconds before the first twin died.

"Zane! John is not gonna survive that attack!" Chris shouted. Instead of the water gauntlet the twin which John didn't confront had changed to a water spear.

Zane also agreed with Chris, John might have survived if the twin had attacked with the gauntlet, however he couldn't survive being impaled by a spear. The twin obviously wouldn't make the mistake of missing the heart.

Zane quickly summoned his new bow from his ring and notched an arrow before pulling the string with all his strength. Just like when he tested the bow, Zane was able to pull the string to his physical limit with no signs of the bow breaking. 

THWANG!

The arrow flew out of the bow with incredible force, even Zane was amazed at the power of the bow. This was his first time pulling the string to it's max. Even though Adam had told him that the bow was unbreakable, he was still wary.

Zane was even more shocked when the system confirmed that he killed the twin, he had clearly seen his arrow go through the head of the twin but he couldn't believe it.

Only after system told him did he believe it. He had killed a rank four mage as well a grade two mana beast as a mortal, granted the spider case was dumb luck but luck was also a part of strength.

Zane suddenly felt himself get pushed, and because he wasn't prepared, he fell to the ground. Raising his head, he saw Chris waving towards the ground with a reassuring smile.

Zane could only sigh and stand up to watch the other fights.

David's fight :

Boom!

Peter covered his body with a thin layer of water before exploding all of it. It was the only way he could think of to escape Earth Punishment.

He could brute force his way out of the spell, however that would only hurt him more, the earth pillars where in his body after all.

Exploding water while it was still in contact with his body was painful, however it was way better than the alternative. Also because of the natural resistance to one's own mana and spells, Peter wasn't hurt.

The explosion destroyed the Earth Punishment spell and created a dust cloud. David knew the logical move right now would be to send attacks into the dust, however he didn't want to kill Peter.

A few seconds later, the injured figure of Peter emerged. He had two holes on his left leg, two on his right leg and two more on his right arm. Blood oozed from these gaping injuries.

"It's over Peter. Give up and i will let you live" David said, killing was never his thing.

"Atomic Water serpent" Peter mumbled while looking at his opponent with rage apparent in his eyes. He had obviously denied David's peace offer.

Raising his none injured hand, water started to form on his palm. The water quickly took the shape of a small snake as it slithered up Peter's hand to the shoulder before moving back to the palm.

Peter then threw the snake into the air above his head before it suddenly grew in size, in a matter of instants it became 20 meters long!.

Usually, David wouldn't let his opponent prepare a spell freely like this, however this time David couldn't attack. That was because he felt the amount of mana in the snake and was stupefied. 

Instead of wasting his time trying to disturb the spell he needed to think of a way to block!.

A two inch suit of earth armor appeared around David before he immediately went into the fetal position with this knees in his arms and his back facing Peter. 

Then a small dome made of highly compressed earth covered his body. He now looked like a turtle hiding in its shell. While the attack was yet to come, David supplied more and more mana into his 'shell'

"Cowardly earth tortoise" David mumbled the name of his spell, hoping it would be enough. He was certain that Peter used absolutely all his mana on that attack, he just had to survive and victory would be his.

However that was easier said than done, the mana entire reserves of a rank six mage held an unfathomable amount of energy.

Peter smirked at David's pathetic attempt before lowering his hand. The giant snake above him few to David and coiled itself around David's defensive spell.

BOOOOOOOM! 

The third confrontation between David and Peter marked the end of their battle, however the victor was still unknown.

Clara's fight:

Due to Clara switching to the earth element, the fight quickly became one sided. Although Clara's earth element was 50% weaker than her fire, earth was the perfect counter to wind.

Clara used the earth element to break through the bald scar man's wind defenses, then the fire element to deliver devastating attacks.

The man also tried switching to a more effective element but failed badly, he didn't have Clara's years of experience in using the earth element.

The fight continued in this way until the man was overpowered and fell into a passive position. It didn't take long for Clara to overwhelm and knock out her opponent.

The third confrontation between Clara and the bald scarred man ended with Clara claiming victory.

From the five people on Peter's team. One of the twins was dead, the bald scarred man was out cold and Peter himself was completely out of mana. 

That left only two people on Peter's team who could fight. The other remaining twin and the pink haired woman.

Adam's fight :

Still running.

John the Juggernaut's fight :

After the other twin was killed, things became easier for John. The remaining twin, noticing his brother's demise, became overcome by rage.

As expected, he couldn't fight in that state, and even if he could, he wasn't a match for John alone. John was a rank above him after all.

It didn't take long for the twin to get knocked out by John, who quickly covered him in an earth cocoon from the neck down before carrying him to the earth tower.

"How was your fight?" John asked Clara as he put down the twin's earth covered body.

"It was so so" Clara smiled with a wave of her hand.

"Ummm John a little help!" Chris shouted from atop the tower. 

"Ohh right" John said as he tapped his foot on the ground. The earth tower quickly descended once more and Zane and Adam were back on solid ground.

"Thanks for the assist back there" John said to Chris.

"It was nothing, it's like i didn't do anything at all" Chris replied with a shrug.

BOOOOOOOM!

It was at this point that Peter unleashed his final spell at David.

"What was that?" Chris asked as he glanced at the direction of the explosion. David and Peter's fight had taken them about three hundred meters away from the other fights.

Everyone knew the explosion came from David's fight, but due to tbe distance, they didn't know what had happened.

"It seems David's fight is over" Clara sighed. She could only hope David won. Even though he was stronger than Peter, anything could happen during a fight.

"That only leaves them" John gestured with his head towards the uhh.....fight, in the distance.

About 80 meters away, Adam was running in circles while dodging and blocking the pink haired lady's attacks.

Sweat could be seen coming from Adam's forehead, he couldn't keep this up for much longer.
